Get out of any city before things get bad.
Be armed to the teeth and have a plan where to go one one tank of gas.
Put ONE phone in a faraday box before you bug out,
leave the rest behind. Only use that phone in a deadly emergency,
and not at your final destination. After you use it, destroy it.
Having a goodly amount of food, booze, tobacco, and small
arms ammunition is now money you can trade. Be prepared
mentally do do ANTHING to protect you and yours. Last and
most important, have a way to make any water potable.
In a few months from total societal meltdown, most people will
be dead from disease. A month if it happens in winter. Including
the police and military. No food deliveries and bad water= death.
Cities will be deadly.
Also consider talking to you local Sheriff about joining or forming a citizen posse to hold onto the hamlet in the event of supply chain disruptions and looting. If only to gauge that elected official’s commitment to civilized order.
Allies and community will be crucial.
Your bugout destination should be a place where
you have a lot of like-minded, trusted friends.
And a place with plenty of free roaming food. The firearms aren’t just
for protection. And remember, it takes a great deal of food
to keep even a small community properly fed. Read “Undaunted Courage”
about the Louis and Clark expedition. The amount of game they needed to
kill and butcher every day was eye opening even for this life long hunter.
They almost starved more than once. Especially in lush and wet Oregon.
Our side needs to figure out how to defeat the ‘non-lethal’ control weapons. Hearing protection, of course, but what kind. On the microwave side; would some kind of metal screen or mesh shield work?
Space blankets will mask you from thermal imaging mostly. I would think they’d be good in reflecting microwaves too, someone with more knowledge can probably confirm or refute that.
ZIG the other day mentioned getting some laser goggles might be a good thing… Have a few essentials tucked away in that prep bag, just in case… food for thought…
I have done a bit of E&E in the past and “space blankets”, if you really want to use them, must be used properly otherwise they are worse than useless.
A tip I will leave is – Your exposed surfaces should be at least at, preferably below, the temperature of the background you are using to provide your cover – and do not disturb any of the background you are using, and if possible (ie hiding behind a wall, in a garbage bin, etc) dont be in contact with it.
Also remain perfectly still for as long as required (paying attention that your leaking body temperature is not heating up your cover or the background you are using as cover).
There are manuals on escape and evasion and evading thermal imaging (and reflective IR seach lights) which will explain it in more detail, just be mindful that you can hide from thermal imaging and IR if you follow the correct procedures and use the correct teqniques.
Remember also that if someone is hunting you using an IR seachlight (invisible to the naked eye if pure IR or seen as very dim red if some visible spectrum leakage) you will not be able to gauge the light cover pattern, and using filters (such as goggles) will not help as they cant make IR appear in the visible range.
If you are looking for an IR search light or IR trip sensor led, what you can sometimes do, assuming you dont have any IR night vision equipment, is to use an old digital camera (which have por IR filters on the sensor), or a modern phone or camera with the IR filter removed, and seach with that (although you will have to work out how to shield the screen or your position will be compromised.
As I say, lots of written material on this worth seeking and absorbing (puns intended).
I think the goggles were in case of a laser attack and not for IR detection… but good tips, gonna have to get even re serious about E&E.
I’m thinking LRAD’s cause the soft tissue to vibrate and create heat. Defensively, getting behind a gel shield may help; All you inventors out there, get to work!

I suspect (but am not encouraging anyone) that cell towers are going to have to be a target. They could use your phone to locate you and the tower to microwave you like a potato. I don’t know if they have that capability built in, but it is possible.

All the compounds that are in the soil, when you saturate it with water and then pulse electricity between two poles, you will get a plasma pulse in between if the voltage is high enough.
That’s what we’re seeing when we see these pulses – the plasma pulse. It’s coming up out of the earth at different points, so 1, we can see the plasma pulse, but 2, it’s setting trees on fire from underneath, houses on fire. Especially houses are susceptible because they have a grounding rod in the earth, and when the pulse happens and the house happens to be in between the positive and negative poles of this pulse, the house acting as a lightening rod will attract a ‘finger’ of the pulse and that electricity will run up into the house and set the house on fire from within.
But when they use this weapon, it also will set the ground itself on fire underneath. It will burn trees from the inside out, and it will set sewer systems and electrical vaults where there may be transformers and things like that, it will set them on fire and set the transformers on fire as well.

With most modern weapons, the best defense is to find and neutralize the control equipment and/or operator. There are many ways you could do this, some of which do not require “weapons” to perform.

The good news is thermal imagers are affordable, play around with your personal stealth and learn some science, share with the forum. But remember, radiation is a two-way street, so protect your children’s eyes from active IR, retina goes pop.
I used to man an IR capable turret system. A wet blanket isn’t hiding you, if the camera is zooming. The image is shown to us as black and white and the lines are sharp. I used to watch shrews in the trees at a pretty good distance. You can really only see larger things at 2 clicks or so. The magnification is not near as good as visible light optics.
Personal gear is not that great. I got to see the attack helo IR cameras and they were worse than the ground mounts for trying to move and see things. It’s not easy to spot things while moving.
Electronic countermeasures were getting pretty sophisticated for vehicle mounts, also.

I’ve had fun playing with Flir handheld thermals at night. I’ve been at a good 100+ yards at 2AM and spotted a swarm of bees clinging to a bush. Ambient temps were 30s and the bees were a nice 60+. They stood out like a sequoia in the desert among the dark bushes and trees. Somewhere, I still have the screenshot I took.
These seem to be better suited for urban combat environments. These tools will be useless in a rural area, especially ones that are wooded. The heat seeking drones may be fooled easily. I have a silo at the farm across the road. I can perk up on top of that and shoot some of those things right out of the sky…maybe..I haven’t tested that yet.

I have a drone that can scout all the woods around me, without having to compromise exfil options with elevation. Water towers are not good places for snipers, but sometimes you can’t tell SOF nothing and they have to learn the hard way.
TMK, space blankets help mitigate thermal signature but they are better suited for semi-permanent locations. There are numerous ghillie suits that disperse your body heat over a larger area but those are rather expensive and very heavy; pretty much a no-go for summer in the south. One will likely need to build their own and test it with a thermal imager because the manufacturers are unlikely to sell to John Q public unless they are contractor / government.
Thermal imagers require line of sight so anything that breaks LoS will defeat thermal imagers, even a piece of clear glass. Likewise, trying to use a thermal imager through a closed window is an exercise in stupidity. Just Low crawling with a dollar store umbrella in front of them will hide someone from thermal cameras if they keep all line of sight broken. Even a small tarp will be beneficial in the forest.
Therein lay the problem with umbrellas etc… you have to know from which direction the imaging is coming from. Your umbrella would be useless if a small drone is deployed while you are blocking in the direction you think imaging is coming from. Plus an umbrella would kinda announce where you are unless you have a disguise for your umbrella too… this is getting deeper… 🙂

Yeah, my 20g with 3 inch shells just goes pop, no recoil. If 12g recoil is a problem for you, you need to join the US Army or Navy because real military things are just going to be too hard for you.
However concrete is highly reflective to IR. Don’t assume you are adequately hidden in your drain pipe shelter if close to the end and at an extreme angle to a bad guy’s sensors.
Leaves or plastic sheeting will block it. The newer SWIR scopes and some industrial gas leak inspection scopes will see through glass. I got to test one that was intended to spot IR lasers and it did a great job. At $45K, it was a steal.

This whole debacle has been a red pill moment for me. I always knew what you wrote above but put outta my mind for reasons I don’t really know right now. Leading me to think that there is probably a bank run on right now in Canada. And the Trudeau cabal is to blame.

I suspect that once cheque day comes at the end of the month, which is pretty soon, there is going to be a whole of folks in Canada doing exactly what I just done. Apologies if someone else mentioned this downstream, but as regards LRAD, I did a tiny amount of research to learn that store-bought ear plugs are effective against this. As an ex-motorcycle rider/racer, I quickly learned that you have to find the ones with the greatest dB attenuation. Yeah, I studied accoustics in Engineering.
Excellent for comfort, but subsonic frequency mass drivers are what roil the crowd’s bowels and get the stampede going.
Sorry, they’re not going to be using the LRADs in the audible range.

I had also read somewhere, but can’t confirm, that the resonant frequencies of various bodily organs are roughly known and can be specifically targeted with pulses from an LRAD.
Simply avoid the locations where the shit is going down. Don’t fucking be there…

Make your heart peace with Jesus the Christ.
Be able to quench your family’s thirst.
Be able to feed your family.
Be able to shelter your family.
Be able to protect your family defensively and offensively.
Be prepared to fight at night.
Be able to medically treat your family and understand long term sanitation needs.
Be prepared to heat your home independently depending on location.
Find likeminded prepared neighbors and friends you can trust, bond with, discuss all possibilities, have communication set up and mutual support agreements…depending on circumstances. Work that out ahead of time.
Have a plan B & C for the worse case if forced to leave your home.
ECONOMICS:
Get out of the banks as much as possible.
Get out of debt as much as possible.
Have as much cash as you can afford at home (It will work for a little while).
Have some pre 1964 silver American coins in your hands. After that with PMs it will depend on the individual’s means/wealth and PM knowledge.

I suspect you need to destroy the emitter. You might be able to shield from it, but destroying it is a better solution. If you knew your local dept had one, I suspect you would have to enforce a strict policy of reprisals against known dept members and their loved ones if it were used. “If it is used, you will lose 3 houses within 24 hours. Every time we see it used thereafter, we’ll add another house.”
More importantly, the best way to defend yourself is not to be where your enemy is.
Look at Afghans and how they invalidated our weapons. I saw Taliban have a meeting with a journalist. 3 dudes stood 50 feet apart from each other in a circle around the reporter, yelling answers and questions. They explained the US would not waste a Hellfire on 1 guy-it was too expensive to shoot at 1 as long as they stood apart.
Moving comms via dispatch runners wreaks havoc with the tech-heavy intel people. No cell phones, radios, wifi, or other potential comms devices. The USMC beat a big Pentagon wargame when they notionally used runners to carry dispatches, turning Big Army’s SIGINT toys into garbage. The USMC general playing OPFOR was accused of cheating and they had to stop and reset the game so Big Army could win.
