Watch: Pennsylvania Snow Squall Causes Horrifying 50-Car-Pileup

Via ZeroHedge

Shocking footage is circulating on social media of a massive car crash Monday morning on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, after a crazy snow squall brought visibility for drivers down to near zero.

Local news CBS 21 News reports 50-60 cars and tractor-trailers crashed into each other on the two-lane stretch of highway near mile marker 116 on I-81 in Schuylkill County when visibility was cut to zero following quick bursts of heavy snow.

The incident was declared a mass casualty event at 1100 ET. Schuylkill County officials said three people were killed and about 20 others injured.

Videos posted on Twitter show horrifying scenes of the multi-vehicle crash unfolding.

It looked like some of those trucks were going way too fast for snow/fog.

I’m glad he survived, but the dumbfuck stood there forever, just hanging out while there were 18 wheelers all around piled up and on fire. I would’ve been outta that car and as far away from the road into the woods as possible.

Wow… Schuylkill County was a powerful flashback…was in a tail end charley event like this due to fog in-between Atlanta and Chattanooga in the late 80’s. I didn’t crash…but was late enough to the show to miss the main event.

I was born in Schuylkill county…lived there until I was 5…both sides of my all American Mick/Wop ‘melting pot’ family (long before the days of the separate ‘salad bar’ immigrants rushed in post 1965) blended together in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.

I loved both…ahhh different…melting pot feeding tube sides.

Went back there throughout my entire miss-spent yout in Jersey. Two completely different cultures in those two locations, plus rural vs. city…rural will always have advantages in the long run to me.

Hi GNL,

My wife and I had that last year July with delta. Lots of water , 1 quart per hour while awake and max strength mucinex. Zinc, quercetin, C 1000 mg 2x daily and D 5000 iu daily. Most symptoms were abated in <. 10 days, however we both still have excessive phlegm at back of throat / post nasal drip sometimes, but not the deep chest kind. Also still have slightly altered sense of smell, but thank God taster is ok.

Also steamy shower/bath and tap your chest to help break up and expectorate the crud from the lungs.

Not a doc, YMMV.

Have some perspective.
I’ve driven into these without warning.
It’s terrifying. Not all tragedy is idiocy.

(but most is)

It always amazes me (but doesn’t surprise me) that most drivers don’t slow down when visibility is bad due to heavy rain, snow, fog, dust storms, etc. Of course it can be tricky, because if you do slow down, or even pull over on the shoulder if the visibility is bad enough, which is what I do, you can still get hit from behind by the morons who just keep driving at their normal speed. When I do pull over on the shoulder I keep a sharp eye out in the rear-view mirror, and usually keep driving very slowly, so I can pull clear off the road if necessary to avoid being rear-ended.
