MAGA Is Ascendant And The Establishment Republican Party Needs To Die

Via The Blue State Conservative

Our piece isn’t about Disney. But I will use Disney as an example. It’s about what I’ll refer to as Conservative Inc. I don’t mean the Ben Shapiro, Charlie Kirk, version of conservatism. I’m using the term to refer to the big government, establishment Republicans. The guys that call themselves the Bulwark. The Never Trumpers who assure us they are the conscience of conservatism. The folks that called the Tea Party “wacko birds” and consider MAGA supporters to be a bunch of unhinged hooligans. When I use the term Conservative Inc., I mean the guys that go on cruises and pat themselves on the backs for talking down to the masses that expect more than tax cuts from conservatives. In short, it’s the people that have made a business out of calling themselves conservatives, while at the same time enabling leftists to run roughshod over our country.

First, for some background information. Way back in 1967, Florida established the Reedy Creek Improvement District for the Disney Corporation. It exempted Disney from a great deal of state and local government oversight and taxation. It was a crony capitalist deal if there ever was one.

Now fast forward to 2022. The Disney Corporation has decided to fight against Florida’s juvenile anti-sexual grooming bill. The company even piled on by announcing that it would be adding LGBTQ themes to its children’s programming.

Florida took the fight to the next level. It succeeded in passing the anti-grooming law, and then gut-punched Disney by revoking the Reedy Creek Improvement District.

And now, Conservative Inc. Republicans are having an attack of the vapors. Charles C.W. Cooke of National Review wrote:

This escalation represents an ugly and ill-conceived mistake, a blemish on DeSantis’s otherwise mostly excellent gubernatorial record.

Brad Palumbo of National Review and Hannah Cox of the Foundation for Economic Education wrote:

Ayn Rand once said, “The difference between a welfare state and a totalitarian state is a matter of time.”

The implication being that Florida is becoming a totalitarian state for going all “shock and awe” on Disney.

The consensus among Conservative Inc. seems to be that Florida got its anti-grooming bill passed, it should go back to business as usual. Let bygones be bygones. Don’t let this little spat get in the way of business. No spiking the ball – walk across the field and shake hands with the losing team and commend them for a good game. What complete crap.

Clearly, Conservative Inc. doesn’t understand what crony capitalism is. According to the Oxford Languages dictionary, crony capitalism is

an economic system characterized by close, mutually advantageous relationships between business leaders and government officials.

Disney forgot the “mutually advantageous” part of the arrangement. It broke the deal when it went to war with its “close relationship” partner. Disney Corporation breached the deal, so Florida canceled it altogether – as it should.

Further, to quote Ayn Rand in defense of a crony capitalist deal is intellectually dishonest to the extreme. Anyone who has read Atlas Shrugged knows that Rand believed that crony capitalism would end our society as we know it. But the book is over a thousand pages long, written at a twelfth-grade level. Maybe Brad and Hannah haven’t actually read it.

But my response to Charles, Brad, and Hannah is a bit different than Ayn Rand’s response would likely be. My reaction is: Are you freaking kidding me? A company with unique access to children, is advocating the sexual grooming of 5-year-olds! And these morally bankrupt fools are disturbed by Ron DeSantis’ actions? What Disney is doing is an outright attack on our children. I would advocate it being closed down and shuttered by any legal means available.

Bastions of the Bulwark, like Bill Kristol, are totally fine with judging Trump guilty of inciting insurrection for asking people to peacefully protest the election. By that rationale, Disney is guilty of inciting child abuse. And yet the advice from Conservative Inc. is to leave Disney alone. Don’t let a little thing like sexualizing children get in the way of business – oh, and sign up for one of their cruises so they can lecture us about what real conservatism is.

That pretty much sums up why the old guard of the Republican party is dying and MAGA is ascendant. They’re willing to choose business over morality. In their eyes, the souls of our children and countrymen are secondary to that pursuit. They are morally bankrupt.

Real Conservatives want more. We want our liberties protected. We want our values defended. And we want our leaders held accountable, whether they be political, governmental, business, religious, or social.

Isn’t that pretty close to the real definition of Fascism? If not, please explain the difference. And by real I mean the original, not the crap currently on Wiki about Fascism.

Another way of looking at it, What is a Corporatocracy?

Last Modified Date: April 28, 2022

A corporatocracy is a system of government in which a corporation, group of corporations or entities run by corporations control the direction and governance of a country, either directly or indirectly. Although there officially are no true corporatocracies in the world, many people often criticize governments for being de facto corporatocracies that are heavily influenced by corporations. Proving that a government actually is a corporatocracy likely would be difficult, however, so this concept is mainly discussed in the circles of critics, political analysts and conspiracy theorists.

Not wiki. First I heard the word was around 2007 and it was difficult finding a definition in dictionaries. I note the spelling edit.

Newer “concept” I suppose. I know nothing about wisegeek.

I agree with you that Trump’s personality shines through, but I think that’s a good thing. The guy who stole the election who is squatting in the WH can’t finish a single thought without wondering off on another lie-filled story we don’t need to hear and that’s inappropriate.
I don’t agree with everything Trump does. He sure needs to STFU about the “warp speed” clot shot that killed more than the Covid itself. That’s a big one. And what’s with the Oz endorsement? Apparently from the booing, people in PA aren’t exactly for the guy.

Trump is out of touch like most of the mega rich, he says a lot great stuff but in that one awkward moment he blows his own cover evetime. He did some good things, I will give him that, but he does keep some interesting people that he calls friends and that’s just to say the least.

His choice in friends reveals his lack of character judgement. Case in point, that lunatic Omarosa Manigault. She was part of his original White House gang but was walked off the property, then smeared Trump in revenge.
Given Trump’s poor judge of character, I wouldn’t trust his political endorsements, either.

There were 16 Conservative Inc. candidates running against Trump in 2016. Which one was your favorite? Trump proved them all to be the frauds they were. And if not one of the 16, then who? There no such thing as the “perfect” person. The only one there was died 2000 years ago. I’m not saying anything against you personally. Frankly I love your comments. Just not this one.

Unfortunately, all “leadership” in the US has apparently become epic fail.

Draining the swamp was one the biggest loads of malarkey I’ve heard, just one of loads by many others yet total malarkey the first time the rhetoric came out of Trump’s mouth.

Ben Carson was not a fraud, but it became obvious he did not have the strength of personality or the gravitas to take the nomination…however, I loved the way he took Obama apart to his face at a prayer breakfast.

Damn straight! Finer words have never been spoken. We should start a “No-Disney” pledge…promise you’ll buy none of their entertainment products, swag, cruises, hotels, events such as “Disney on Ice”, videos, streams, networks, movies, and that includes ALL their subsidiaries. Best thing right now for starters would be a list of all the associations and just stop spending your money with them.
And not only that, we should do this with ALL companies doing the woke thing. We don’t need it. We don’t want it. Do business with those who still have some common sense.

You are correct.

Generally, I sympathize with those who use the term “RINO”, but they are missing the point: RINOs are the beating heart and soul of Republicanism, and always have been.

They are why the party came into being in the 1850s, and why it still exists.

Yes sir, the Newt’s Contract with America.

I will say with 100% certainty , regardless who one’s “man” is, statism will not go away in the good ole USA.

Ayn Rand is quoted in the article. Here are others:
“A statist system—whether of a communist, fascist, Nazi, socialist or “welfare” type—is based on the . . . government’s unlimited power, which means: on the rule of brute force. The differences among statist systems are only a matter of time and degree; the principle is the same. Under statism, the government is not a policeman, but a legalized criminal that holds the power to use physical force in any manner and for any purpose it pleases against legally disarmed, defenseless victims.”

First I knew of Kauffman and lizard people was here on yesterday’s 05/07 radio broadcast. Don’t listen to it often. I do find the show much more interesting than the old stuck in the mud corporate , elitist , established , “popular” talking head radio commentators that continue to defend the swamp drainer. As Free talk Live points out, nothing new, anyone running on the Libertarian ticket stands a snowballs chance in hell of being elected to US Senate. NH could be a one and only place. So far Kauffman is still gathering necessary petitions in order to “qualify” as an “official” candidate. I’m thinking there are posters here who are familiar with him. By no means do I have faith in political USA. I don’t fit in. The ad is a hoot IMO.

Recall, Mr. Trump saying Thomas Massie was not suitable for the republicOn party. Massie did not eat at the Trump trough. More power to Massie. I wish he was aligned with another political party or ideally simply independent.

Let’s build a movement, not a man. That makes the movement much more powerful. Let’s also stop being anti and start being for something. MAGA is great in that regard.

MAGA is little more than a catch phrase for Trump’s showmanship cult of personality. He’s a privileged oligarch who never truly believed in or implemented the basics of political or financial conservatism while in office. Unfortunately, he’s the only major viable political personality capable of drawing a public crowd when it comes to opposing the godless Progressive leftists – and that’s a shame.
