It’s unclear exactly what made President Joe Biden so angry yesterday. We’ve seen him irate before, usually during campaign speeches, and with his ire typically directed at former President Donald Trump. But a speech Biden gave to 40th International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) International Convention in Chicago was different. He seemed genuinely enraged.
Is it possible that the president simply doesn’t like electricians? Maybe. And that could explain why he seemed to be in such a foul mood. But consider the subject matter he’s ranting about and try and figure out exactly at whom he’s directing his rage. Watch:
While it’s unclear exactly what the president is so pissed off about, it’s even less clear what he’s even talking about.
Initially it seems like Biden may be talking about some of the food lines that we experienced during the COVID pandemic, so let’s go with that assumption first. Let’s assume that for some reason, our commander-in-chief is hollering at a bunch of electrical workers about instances of Americans waiting in line for food at distribution centers two years ago.
There are so many ways to dismantle Biden’s argument. Those instances were relatively rare, and in virtually every case folks were receiving free food. Or as Joe might have said yesterday, FREE!
The COVID pandemic was one of the most unique and monumental challenges we’ve ever faced, not just in America but across the globe. And if this is indeed what Biden’s going on about – food lines relating to COVID – he might be the first person who’s taking a shot at Trump and Republicans for how food was handled during that time. Better late than never, eh Joe?
But it seems more likely that Biden’s diatribe was pointing at the current food shortages we’re seeing in areas around the country, and if this is the case, his lecture is downright bizarre.
With the possible exception of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, there’s no one who is more responsible for the current food crisis than Biden himself. Therefore, if you’re so agitated by the food shortages, Mr. President, go yell at that old coot in your mirror.
The supply chain crisis has played a large role in inflation and has impacted getting a multitude of goods to the market, including food. And let’s not forget who appointed Buttigieg to the Transportation Department: Biden. The Russia/Ukraine war has Biden’s fingerprints all over it, thanks to his complete botchery of Afghanistan and the signaling if his utter weakness, and that conflict has been perhaps the biggest driver of the global food shortage.
Most importantly, let’s remember who’s been president for the last 16 months. It’s been Sleepy Joe. And as much as he’d like to pass the buck on whatever is happening with whatever supply problems we’re having, it’s not going to work. Biden owns the current and upcoming food shortages, just like he owns high gas prices, a tanking stock market, and a looming recession. It’s all you Joe, and you might as well be pissed off at yourself. Everyone else is.
