In spontaneous remarks on the White House lawn this morning, President Joe Biden pointed his shaky gun control sights at the most popular self-defense cartridge in America.
Recalling a trip to a New York trauma center, Biden said:
“They said a .22-caliber bullet will lodge in the lung, and we can probably get it out—may be able to get it and save the life. A 9mm bullet blows the lung out of the body. So the idea of these high-caliber weapons is, uh, there’s simply no rational basis for it in terms of…self-protection, hunting.”
It’s not the first time Biden has condemned 9mm weapons. In 2019, Biden noted that Americans aren’t allowed to own machine guns or bazookas before asking, “Why should we allow people to have military-style weapons including pistols with 9mm bullets and can hold 10 or more rounds?”
As the New York Post notes, 9mm pistols dominate Americans’ holsters, nightstands and gun cabinets:
According to Shooting Industry magazine, 9mm pistols accounted for 56.8% of all handguns made in the US during 2019. In all, more than 15.1 million 9mm guns were produced in this country during the 2010s. The possibility of outlawing or otherwise regulating such weapons are likely to be a non-starter among conservatives and gun rights advocates.
Aside from the complete implausibility of enacting restrictions on 9mm weapons and ammunition, Biden’s scatterbrained commentary betrays his fundamental misunderstanding of the very nature of armed self-defense when faced with the threat of death or great bodily harm.
When using a pistol or any firearm to stop such a threat, it’s understood that one is using deadly force. It isn’t a game of “tag, you’re it.” The popular Active Self Protection YouTube channel has real-life examples of assailants reanimating after being struck multiple times by police ammunition—likely 9mm or larger .40-caliber—to say nothing of Biden’s kindler, gentler .22.
Which brings us to the next point: Biden singling out 9mm ammunition as supposedly “high-caliber” is laughable, given its place along the pistol caliber continuum—to say nothing of deer-hunting rifle ammunition with which he’s apparently at peace.
We’d love to know what nearby Secret Service agents were thinking as Biden said “high-caliber” 9mm ammunition “blows the lung out of the body” and therefore has “no rational basis” in self-defense. Will Biden order them to switch to a .22 so would-be assassins have better odds of making it out of surgery?
Finally, as absurd as Biden’s latest commentary was, it failed to outdo his preposterous 2013 advice that women should always arm themselves with 12-gauge shotguns rather than AR-15s—because AR-15s are supposedly “harder to aim” and “harder to use.” This classic video does a great job demolishing Biden’s premise:

According to what I have read, (not saying it’s true) the .22 is the deadliest round. How can that be? The waxy lube they put on them collects dirt and germs. Most of the rounds sit around collecting dust for a couple years before they get used I would guess.
So, if you get dinged by a .22, the damage will be minimal compared to other rounds, but your odds of croaking a few days later from an infection are pretty good.
“According to what I have read …the .22 is the deadliest round”
it is. more accurately, more people die of .22 gunshots than any other caliber, because more people are shot by .22 than any other caliber.
Every time a marxocrat opens it’s clueless mouth about firearms,
I get a belly laugh.
“Well, you know, my shotgun will do better for you than your AR-15, because you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door.”
Carry on, Joetatoe!
HAHAHAHA!
One of the best ever political parody songs was about that –
Thanks for ANOTHER belly laugh at that blithering fool’s expense.
Clown World is real!
Brilliant.
HAHAHAHHA!
Especially if you buy Komodo Dragon™ .22 shorts
Saw a guy blow an entire elephant in half once with just a .22 short. The danger is off the charts.
HAHAHAHHA!
Somewhere, some lib twat is copying this down as fact.
yes. they are.
But all your cronies at davos want to get rid of 50% of the world population, why are interfering with their wish’s?
because they want to get rid of that .50 quicker and more directly, at no risk to themselves.
.50 would be effective for several. In a line.
Why are those who are the least intelligent or knowledgable about weapons the most vociferous in their condemnation of them?
Dunning-Kreuger effect, I suppose?
I’ll bet Auntie Maxine Waters knows a thing or two though.
“You don’t need more than ten rounds to hunt deer.”
No, but you might need more than ten to stop four feral youts attacking you with hammers:
https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/last-of-four-attackers-in-bevo-mill-hammer-killing-gets-18-year-term/article_ec8dfc25-c226-56d1-a84c-ba41e8c0a5cb.html
Don’t most states limit you to three rounds when hunting?
Waterfowl, yes
Only migratory birds and that is a federal law.
“A 9mm bullet blows the lung out of the body”
(laugh)
I think 9mm is OK if that’s what you like.
My carry is 40 S&W, but my favorite is a Ruger Blackhawk in 44 Rem Mag.
I like 40 S&W too.
In Boundary County Idaho. a 44mag is a must.
Lots of people from Missouri. brandon
Says the rational politician.
Ever notice how emotional likes to point out its missing ~ self shot off ~ toes by invoking its opposite, “rational”?
After that, the hypocrisy of people with heavily armed security details surrounding them (whether bought by tax-mules, or not) chiding-telling people that don’t have security details that self-defense is irrational?
Speaking of another vector into the same ol same ol: “bullying” has been getting bullied for quite some time now, but not much championing of the benefits of bullies, nor the adverse (planned) consequences of “doing away with it.” “Safe spaces”…& “active shooters.”
At least two generations deep into on again off again psychoactive 9mm “meds” for parents & kids alike. Teacher prescribed Ritalin. Etc. That too was part of the plan. But mums the word by rational politicians on those magic bullets.
“After that, the hypocrisy of people with heavily armed security details surrounding them … chiding-telling people that don’t have security details that self-defense is irrational?”
it’s not hypocritical at all. see, in their minds, they’re humans with rights, and the rest of us aren’t. so yeah, they surround themselves with armed guards, and decry you doing the same, and that’s not hypocrisy, it’s just common sense.
the last couple of years people have been frantically arming up, knowing what’s coming. and now biden wants to ban their protection? this should cause the democrats to lose the next election 2 votes to 1.
Time to bring back corrosive primers, at the very least.
Huh?
FUCK THAT! The next day your whole damn gun is green.
Nah, I’ll take that Russian 7.62x54R surplus with the corrosive primer any day like old days for 19 cents per rd. Not like that now.
When I shoot Mosins with surplus corrosive primers, oops, Red Flag, Red Flag, I clean them immediately after shooting. Can’t let them sit around and evidently those old Russian/Slavic military guys did not either or the surplus firearms that use to come to the US would be rusted prices of junk. I run warm water from the breach out the muzzle several times, run dry swabs through and then clean with Hoppes just like with smokeless powder ammo and oil em down. I’ve got one Mosin with some visible pits in the barrel that still shoots a saucer size target at 75 yards and another with barrel smoother than a baby’s butt that does the same at 100 yds, open sights. Have to practice, but that’s how they shoot.
If people shoot recreationally very much with more modern smokeless powder calibers they certainly have more dough for the activity than I.
Oops, Governor Perry, not to confuse smokeless powder with corrosive primers, my bad.
I’m thinking US military surplus ammo was at one time primed with corrosive primers. Long gone off the shelves of course, except those that may still have a stash.
That being the case with widely used corrosive primers at one time, there had to have been a cleaning lubricant that alleviated corrosion from what I gather is “salts” as a result of primer discharge. I read about a product once called Ballistol that is said to be effective for all primer ammo , corrosive or non-corrosive. I’m thinking the lubricant has been around a very long time and perhaps what military used in the days of corrosive primers.
Got to be some military folks here that have more info.
Pretty much everything was corrosive until the early 50’s in the US. The exception was .30 Carbine which has always been non-corrosive. Corrosive primers will seize the War Baby up faster than a Democrat can steal. The French were gifted lots of M1 Carbines but insisted as is their wont, to use their own corrosive ammo. Many a Froggie died stupidly in Indochina from bad ammo with the Carbine same as GI’s would die stupidly because of bad ammo and unchromed bores 15-20 yers later with the M16. Assholes still try to sell French surplus Carbine ammo.
I found out the hard way with the Garand and some 1959 Ees-ra-ay-lee M2 Ball which was corrosive and turned the rifle’s bore green overnight. I shot a bunch of what turned out to be corrosive Chinese Ball for the AK. It turned green and was so bad I had to step on the op-rod to move it. The AK was all chrome lined and cleaned up nice and 30 years later runs like a champ.
I’ve not a lot of experience with corrosive primer ammo except in the bolt action Mosins , well worth the $99 I paid for each one some 10-12 years ago. And the surplus ammo was well worth 19 cents per round. Simply put, I cannot afford large caliber ammo for even occasional big bang shooting. The guns shoot with a big bang and I get along fine with the open sights even with aging eyes. They are recreational yet give nothing away in ballistic comparisons to .308/7.62×51.
There were some survival trainers around here some years ago that gave a demonstration on long range shooting with open sight Mosins. 500 yards may not seem much to the sniper experts while I can barely see open sight at 500 yards. They were hitting 15″ diameter targets every time with Russian surplus.
I’ve never seen a green gun/barrel so no experience there. It seems sgammo was selling some corrosive primer ammo for 7.62×39 from time to time but I’m thinking it was from one of the Slavic countries, Perhaps Czechoslovakia.
Back when there was an abundance of surplus Mosins I would look at them even in crates containing 10 or 20 rifles, crate sales. Though beat up a bit I never noticed any excessive corrosion. The barrels are always black as the ace of spades though. My 91/30 and 91/59 carbine are absolute immaculate compared to those. I like them and I like Russian, Bulgarian surplus ammo that is all but gone with exception one can still buy the leftover spam/tins for $330+. Not me. When mine is gone, it’s gone. Red Flag, Red Flag…screw Red Flag people!
You believe we’re going to actually have an election?
How quaint.
Sorry to be cynical, but the only way I’ll have any faith at all in the election is if the Conservatives win both houses and immediately impeach and remove Biden and The Bimbo.
Then they can set to work impeaching and removing Biden’s SCOTUS pick, and John Roberts, who denied the Texas v. Georgia election lawsuit, and put the Orange Asshole back into the Oval Office.
We’re not going to have an election. We’re never going to have an election again as long as our debt is owned by foreign powers and our media is also.
You’re fooling yourself amigo, the bastards sold us out…and it started with “top down” Supreme Court decisions.
“We’re not going to have an election”
sure we will. they’ll tell us there was an election and that biden received 160 million ballots this time.
Exactly this. And afterwards even people who suspect it was strange will go oddly silent, just like last time.
“people who suspect it was strange will go oddly silent”
because the time for talk will have passed, and the time for action will have come. and there’s no sense in advertising the action ahead of time.
Do you see January 6th as being “oddly silent?”
Lol were you under the impression Jan 6th was an organic event?
My question, who are the”conservatives”, those that just approved the dough to Ukraine? I would say , “ wake up” , yet that does not seem to work. Who are the “conservatives”?
The 57 who voted against it out of 435.
Wonder how they voted on the original covid stimulus stuff. I’m thinking Thomas Massie opposed it during Trump and one reason Trump said Thomas did not belong in the republican party.
It is impossible for the republicans to win enough seats in the senate to convict on any impeachment charges. Pretty good chance the senate stays at 50-50. With GA governor and Sec state running, the election will be much cleaner this go around. In ‘24, not so much, as they will not e on the ballot.
This is the kind of response you get when you have fools attempt to control a subject they know absolutely nothing about.
politicians, The Constitution, and governing?
And just like that we’re going to have another ammo shortage as people stock up. And millions of rounds go from warehouses where they can be easily seized in one fell swoop to tens of thousands of closets and gun cabinets nationwide. Let’s Go Brandon!!
Look for the government to have every dingbat agency buy up all of the guns and ammo that they can … after all, it was b h o who engaged in such a policy during his 8 years of terror upon We The People Of The United States. During that time, the government bought more than 2 billion rounds of ammo — all calibers — and guns, too …
Shortages? Big surprise …
Look for the government to have every dingbat agency buy up all of the guns and ammo that they can”
(shrug) that’s how I’d do it. pass an “emergency” act or something, print up the cash, buy all the ammo.
but it doesn’t matter, there’s well over several trillion cartridges out in the wild already ….
“Look for the government to have every dingbat agency buy up all of the guns and ammo that they can…”
Again?
I am willing to bet the Dr that told him that was Joe’s copilot when he drove 18-wheelers by Cornpop’s house honking.
As always-What a dumbass!
“They said a .22-caliber bullet will lodge in the lung, and we can probably get it out—may be able to get it and save the life. A 9mm bullet blows the lung out of the body.”
Mmmmm…not likely…my personal preference is .45 cal 230gr, but that’s me, and…
If I am actually at the point where I am shooting…I am fully intending to blow their lungs out of their body…
no no no. repeat after me: “stop the threat. stop the threat. stop the threat.” that’s what you say in court.
I prefer Buffalo Bore +P+ . 44 Magnum.
Joe would hate this:
I picked one up, but have yet to fire it.
I first bought a Ruger SR 9, about a year later bought the latest version of the PC 9 Carbine. The magazines are interchangeable. You can modify both with a different clip to use Glock magazines. I use the Ruger mags myself.
Enjoy them both. 30 rounds in the carbine, 17 in the pistol.
Magpul makes a 50 round drum magazine specifically for PCC’s that take Glock mags. Makes the Ruger with the full stock and ventilated forend look like a Soviet PPsh 41.
Back in the 80’s, Marlin built a carbine that was based on the 30 cal carbine. It came in 9mm & .45 cal. Mags were interchangeable with S&W 59 models. They were nice little rifles.
I think that was a marlin camp 9 and camp 45.
Nice gun.
Goes thru 500 rounds real quick.
I agree with Joe. I will not be replacing the 9mms lost in the lake this weekend.
Who is pushing this stuff? Who tells Dementia Joe what to say, what to think?
And this is just the tip of the noseberg.
“tip of the noseberg”
(laugh)
Remember the USS Liberty.
Well, hey he’s finally right! It IS irrational not to go with 10mm, or .45!
};^D
https://www.johnrlott.com/half-cocked-media-about-guns-is-wrong/
More Guns, Less Crime. Good book.
A .45 fired into space can tear a hole in the fabric of the universe causing the entire universe to be sucked into the tear, similar to a star being sucked into a black whole. People just don’t realize the threat handguns pose to the existence our entire galaxy.
Yup, I remember Nina fact-checking that awful day. Biden and the other survivor, Hunter, were just able to rekindle the Sun by emptying an entire 5 round magazine of .22 LR into our star’s lung. Great work as it saved Hell from having to buy Russian gas for heat.
Yep,the 1911 is one bad mother!
To our 9m.m. brothers and sisters, the .45 awaits you!
