A spectacular fire demolished M & E Seed and Grain Co. in Prosser and left one person with burns.
A smoldering pile of twisted metal and charred lumber was all that remained Thursday morning after firefighters battled the blaze in downtown Prosser all night.
A few firefighters remained at the scene to monitor the fire.

Hmm, I kind of remember seeing that. You’re a high trust individual. Is the current rate of fires/spill/happenstances out of line with the last 5-6 years, in your opinion?
It’s currently about 500% above the statistical norm.
I do have another idea of what’s behind it though.
After the ppast 2.5 years of deliberately murdering the economy operating any business- even if you’re one of the protected ones- has got to be a complete joke. Employees, regulations, mandates, etc have made it so onerous and complicated that even the most die-hard ideologue is going to have a difficult time keeping up the pretense. I believe a lot of these are self-inflicted by the ownership.
Simply find a way to burn it all down, take the insurance payout and then get the hell out while you still have your sanity.
No proof of course, just a hunch.
I just read a “factcheck” about food plant fires. Nothing to see, everything is normal……..
The factcheck was total BS. They included every minor dumpster fire at a plant for the years before 2021, but only counted major, burned to the ground type fires for after 2021.
Number of fires, about equal per year. Type of fires, totally different. But the clueless morons will just read, “no more processing plant fires than any other year”, and none will bother to check the “fact checkers”.
The only locally owned grocery store in our town burnt down to a pile of ash in November 2021, a week before Thanksgiving. I thought immediately that it might have been self inflicted, but the police report showed no foul play. Not sure I believe it.
I’ll buy that for a dollar.
