Best Places To Survive A Nuclear Apocalypse In The US

Via ZeroHedge

After President Biden’s nuclear “Armageddon” statements and reports, the federal government is purchasing $290 million in anti-radiation drugs for use in “nuclear emergencies,” the first question that comes to mind is where to shelter in the event of nuclear war.

To answer that question, the survivalist website Survivalfreedom.com outlines that some of the safest regions in a nuclear war “include the upper Midwest, Maine, West Texas, and multiple small pockets, usually in areas that don’t have large populations.” The most dangerous region is the East Coast because of the significant presence of military installations, defense companies, critical infrastructure, and major cities.

The survivalist website pointed to a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) map that outlines the most likely targets of Russian Intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs).

Here’s a more refined map of US nuclear targets.

They said, “based on research of numerous sources, this is the consensus on the least safe and most safe areas in the United States in the event of a nuclear attack.” The map below shows red zones are “least safe” while blue zones are “most safe.”

Regarding what major metro areas are the most susceptible to nuclear attack, Survivalfreedom said, “New York, NY; Washington D.C.; Dallas-Fort Worth; and Jacksonville, FL. These cities could be potential targets due to their large populations and strategic value.” Adding these cities could also be targets for a nuclear attack:

  • Miami, FL
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • San Francisco, CA
  • Philadelphia, PA
  • Pittsburgh, PA
  • Chicago, IL
  • Houston, TX
  • Phoenix, AZ
  • Honolulu, HI

As for the areas with the lowest priority targets, the survivalist website said, “Maine, Central Idaho, Oregon, and Northern California — adding these areas are likely to be largely untouched in a nuclear exchange due to their sparse populations and lack of strategic targets.”

Meanwhile, Glenn Greenwald pointed out the other day on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight that there are minimal talks to de-escalate or end the conflict in Ukraine.

And the world’s richest person recently warned the probability of nuclear war “is rising rapidly.”

The good news is millions of Americans left progressive cities for rural areas during the pandemic. For those people, perhaps it’s time to take your understanding of being self-sufficient up one more notch and learn to live off the grid as the future remains very uncertain as the next global conflict could erupt at any moment.

I’m watching/reading English subtitles for this now. I find the timing of the release of the data interesting, as well as the subject matter. I also want to see the mushroom cloud hovering there for 40 minutes, although I plan to skip through a lot of it.

It is a bit gay, but hey, it’s better than voting for fetter man.

I drove from Mackinac Island to Houghton for a gig one Summer day in the early 90’s. It was the longest stretch of road I ever drove without passing another vehicle- maybe half an hour or better.
I was starting to think that the world had come to an end and I was the last guy left.

That was a big, empty chunk of American woodland.

lol… Then you’ve never been in a real north. Between the Severn Sisters turn off and Dease lake there is but one service station and you can drive two hours in either direction and see nobody.

Funny thing is that service station is stocked to the gills with tiny tires you’d find on wheel barrels. I asked whats with all the tiny tires that many people pushing wheel barrels?? He chuckled and said they were like gold, city stupids pull these ridiculous trailers with these small tires. ANYBODY with half a brain knows that rough gravel roads will eat these things in less than a hundred miles. So he gets them go’n north and then go’n home… BIG GRIN…

I recently drove through about a 100 mile section of Wyoming that was almost entirely devoid of cars and people on a fairly main road. There are lots of empty spaces in Wyoming, MT, ND, SD.

And when you pass the boom gates on the main roads with the signs saying effectively if you pass these boom gates when they are down you are going to die, you know you are out in the middle of nowhere and the snow and the cold will kill you if you aren’t damn careful. Beautiful, beautiful country, but not to be trifled with.

Russia is not going full on nuke unless we somehow manage to convince them that it’s us or them. Our country is still rich in resources. They could EMP us and just sit back and wait for most of us to die. NATO has insane people running things, though. So I don’t put anything past them.

Scott Ritter tells how insane NATO is in this 20 minute interview. Key point, Stoltenberg said Russia cannot be allowed to win. Basically admitting they are currently winning.

“They could EMP us and just sit back and wait for most of us to die” Silly assumption. Early warning systems detect missiles on launch. Within a few minutes, computers begin to calculate the missiles possible targets, and counter-strike options are put into action. It is impossible to know weather the attack is intended to be an EMP or a strike on a ground target. A counter-strike would be launched long before the missile ever reached our airspace.

We have no idea what the Russians already have orbiting in space. The EMP could be a absolute surprise with no chance of retaliation. EMP would have to be over oceans also to get ships and subs (?). How deep in the water can an EMP penetrate anyway?

Personally, I would look at using EMP over every nation that is not an ally. Create a whole new third world.

Just my armchair general two cents.

Let me tell you what the plan is. It is not a secret, the NWO has been quite open about it for the past 70 years. The plan is to make you believe we are all going to die.
Most probably by nuclear war, but I am sure they have other contingencies.
When the majority of the world believes that they are facing certain death, and emergency meeting of world powers will convene, and they will come up with a plan for a one world government in which all countries surrender their sovereignty and agree to be subject of the One World Government.
This plan will have a strict time limit of only a few days for everyone to accept, or all out destruction will result. In short, they will make the world an offer they cannot refuse. Game, set, match.

The idea that there is some invisible line that once crossed means certain outcome is silly. There is a whole world of difference between using tactical nukes on an invading army, and launching ICBM’s on the cities of a nation that has the ability to retaliate. In the event that the war escalates and NATO actually puts its troops in Ukraine and tries to take the annexed regions, and things go badly for Russia, I believe they would use tactical nukes and or thermobaric weapons. That does not mean NATO would respond by launching on Moscow.

There is but a small amount of fusion material in these newer bombs, they do however make a parking lot of a wider radius (about 10 miles). Radiation will be at acceptable levels within weeks. 25 warheads would not make a dent in our landmass. A thousand would do the trick.

dog-Thermonuclear warheads are far more destructive on a larger area. The fusion ball in the nose is needed for it to detonate. There would be no long term radiation problem. If you can refute the info I have, bring it and change my mind. There was no long term radiation problem in Japan in 1945 and these weapons do not have more fusion material.

It takes about 5 years for the lions share of radiation from a single nuclear explosion to dissipate to levels where human habitation is possible without severe health consequences.
That is assuming the area, is only hit once, and is not downwind of other explosions. If you live in an area where there are military bases or other “valuable ” targets, you can expect to be targeted several times in order to ensure destruction despite missile defense.
In an event where each side decided to only launch half of their arsenals, it is estimated the west coast of the US would be impacted some 700 times. Some of those detonations would be air burst and cause little fallout while others would be ground burst or sub ground burst which could cause tons of dirt and dust to be blown into the atmosphere.
Of course, there is no scenario in which nuclear exchange would be limited to the US and Russia due to defense treaties which require allies on both sides to defend in the case of attack. This means UK, France, Italy, China, N.Korea, and possibly India and Pakistan, would all launch.
Within a half hour, the world would be effectively radiated, destroyed, and returned to the stone age. Anyone who survived would be very unlucky.

Whether or not there are any “safe” areas will depend on how many warheads are used, where they are targeted and the general weather patterns at the time. You can be many miles away from a target and still die if you are downwind from it. If there is a lot of rainfall at the time much of the fallout will be washed from the air quickly increasing survival for those distant from the detonations. If there is little or no precipitation the fallout will be able to drift a long long way….perhaps halfway round the globe or further….increasing the death toll. In a limited nuclear war your survival will depend on both luck and preparation. In a full scale nuclear war few will survive in the norther hemisphere and even parts of the southern hemisphere will see significant deaths.
