They added a Newman bar a few years ago, made a huge difference. Ryan Newman crashed pretty spectacularly many times so it was named after him. Then it saved his life. A racecar running into the windscreen while you’re upside down has to be pretty intense.
Just watched The Final Destination (the one at the car race). Looks like the circus is getting out of hand.
Honestly, that one was the nadir of the franchise. I saw it in theatres in 3-D and remember thinking how I wished I’d spent my money on a crack ho, because at least that would have been interesting.
Friends talked me into going to see FD 5, and I’m pleased to say it was the best sequel since part 2. It’s actually a prequel to the entire series. And it has two of the most gruesome kills out of them all (one of which still breaks me up). If you haven’t seen it, I recommend.
My wife likes the series. They ran a marathon yesterday. Yes, saw them all.

nmdv- They had a few F1 drivers at the last road course, Echo Park. It was hilarious. Then the F1 reporters were having a fun time with it as Kimi was in the the announcers booth at the next F1 race. Kimi Raikkonen and Jenson Button.
GP cars started exceeding 200 mph in the 30s (and with its wheels off the Auto Union is still one of the most aerodynamic GP cars ever made). In the 70s it was possible to build cars beyond the human ability to withstand the forces.
For decades now most of the technological development has gone into finding ways to get around rules trying to limit it.
From a purely sporting point of view the only sensible auto racing today is done in moderately priced spec cars, but that isn’t what makes the cash flow.
Professional sports aren’t. They are entertainment businesses, and business rules will be applied. Where the money is is where where the “sport” will go.

Kyle Larson took a hard hit in todays race. The 7th gen car did pretty good but I still like 6th better. Lots to hate about the functionality about the 7th gen. Glad to see Larson is ok….. Women Drivers…..
