On the despicable way Hunter Biden (and his father) are treating his daughter Navy

If the media weren’t desperate to defend Uncle Joe at all costs, the Bidens’ effort to make Hunter’s four-year-old girl a non-person would be a national scandal

Yesterday, the New York Times ran a piece on Navy Roberts, the four-year-old whom Hunter Biden will not recognize as his daughter.

The article was surprisingly sympathetic to Navy, maybe because Hunter has behaved terribly to her almost since her conception. He took away her health insurance shortly after her birth, denied paternity until a DNA test made him admit it, and rejected her family’s effort to give her his last name.

Worst of all, Hunter has refused even to meet Navy – an act stunning in its cowardice and selfishness even by his standards. And his dad, the big guy, the President of the United States, apparently fully supports Hunter’s effort to make Navy a non-person.

As the article explained:

In strategy meetings in recent years, aides have been told that the Bidens have six, not seven, grandchildren, according to two people familiar with the discussions.

Biden himself said in April that he had “six grandchildren. And I’m crazy about them. And I speak to them every single day. Not a joke.”

Actually, Joseph Biden has seven grandchildren. He speaks to six of them every single day and pretends the seventh doesn’t exist.

You don’t need to be an advice columnist to understand the way the Bidens are treating Navy is indefensible. ALL of the Bidens.

However much Hunter Biden hates her mother, Navy is an innocent four-year-old girl. And if he insists on acting with the supreme selfishness that has characterized every part of his adult life, the rest of his family should stand up to him. That means including Navy Roberts in their lives even if Hunter objects.

At the least, it means acknowledging her existence.

What’s even more disgusting about this behavior is that – again, quoting the Times (article paywalled, unfortunately):

President Biden has worked over the past half-century to make his last name synonymous with family values and loyalty…. On a proclamation issued on Father’s Day, Mr. Biden said that his father had “taught me that, above all, family is the beginning, middle and end — a lesson I have passed down to my children and grandchildren.” He added that “family is life’s greatest blessing and responsibility.”

Yep, life’s greatest blessing!

Except when your crackhead son has a kid out of wedlock (somehow finding the time between his affair with his dead brother’s wife and sex with half the prostitutes in Los Angeles) and decides that he wants nothing to do with the kid. In that case, family’s just another four-letter word. Like rock. Or pipe. Or graft. Or bribe. Okay, those last two are five letters, but they’re all underlined in Hunter’s dictionary!

The Bidens would like to keep this sordid affair – like all Hunter’s sordid affairs – private. For the most part the national media have played along, which is why yesterday’s article in the Times came as such a surprise.

But this is not a private matter.

The unwillingness of deadbeat fathers to take responsibility for their children is not just an American tragedy – it is a social crisis. The children of single mothers are much more likely to grow up in poverty and commit crime. The federal government runs ads and has programs dedicated to encouraging responsible fatherhood.

A federally backed website called fatherhood.gov promotes parental involvement with a clever hashtag, #Dadication. There’s no website at motherhood.gov. There doesn’t need to be.

The fact that the son of the President of the United States has abrogated his parental responsibilities – and that the President has refused even to recognize his granddaughter’s existence – should be a major story. Not for political reasons, but because of its obvious importance to a social problem that drives inequality – and misery.

The White House should be asked about Navy Roberts every day.

Every single day. Until Hunter Biden and the rest of his family do the right thing.
