…or, rather, your day in front of Congress.
Yes, later today US Congress will gather to hear testimony on whether or not US government agencies have been keeping UFO sightings – or even wreckage – secret from the American people.
Among the witness line up will be David Grosch, the “whistleblower” who made headlines claiming that the US had retrieved wrecked alien spacecraft that “distorted time and space”.
However the UFO narrative is more than just one guy shouting at clouds, there’s a concerted effort to move UFO talk into the mainstream spotlight, well documented in a Forbes article published earlier today which gives a good timeline breaking down each “report” and “leak” that has shifted the UFO talk away from fringe “conspiracy theorists” and, well…on to the front cover of Forbes.
What’s noteworthy in all the press coverage is how dispassionately accepting it is.
The Guardian has their own timeline, published a couple of hours ago, which blithely recounts “how we got here”.
CNN’s notice on the congress discussing “unidentified aerial phenomena” reads like the announcement of a debate on parking permits or the minutes of a particularly dull PTA meeting.
Other publications are just as trusting if not rather more enthusiastic. Slate headlines “We’re About to Find Out What We Really Know About UFOs” and tells us in the sub-head that “Nothing will ever be the same again.”
Where is the mockery? Where is the anger at wasting public money and time? Where are the official “fact-checkers”?
Where is the almost immune-like rejection of the alternative we have come to expect from all corporate media?
It is absent. UFOs are already more acceptable than 9/11 truthers, Covid skeptics or climate change “deniers”. What a time to be alive.
Going back to that Forbes article, the author addresses how UFOs went “from taboo to Mainstream”. But what they are less clear on – in fact, what they do not mention at all – is why.
We say it all the time – but the the news doesn’t just happen. It is created, directed and controlled. If we’re all talking about UFOs, it’s because someone wants us to.
We published a more in-depth article about this last month, “Wait…are they REALLY going to do a UFO psy-op?”, which pondered why this narrative would be rolling out now, but couldn’t find a concrete explanation.
Well, maybe today we’ll get some answers.

I’ve always thought the UFO hoax was used as a cover for experimental military aircraft and I’ve seen no evidence to change my mind. I remember back in the late 80’s that people were reporting arrowhead shaped “alien spacecraft” flying around. Then the first Iraq war happened, and those “alien spacecraft” turned out to be the stealth bomber and fighter, both of which are shaped like an arrowhead.
The ‘black triangle’ is ours too. Quiet, can hover, silently move slow and take off instantly.

I once took a stroll through the museums on the National Mall with the kids and stopped to look at the remnants of old science projects. After a couple of minutes I realized the foundation of particle physics done in the early 20th Century was the foundation of particle beam weapons, television sets, and night vision goggles. I loved reading about science when I was a kid (a long time ago, but in this galaxy rather than one far away). One thing I came across as a youngster back in the 70s was the Drake equation. That’s the speculative equation that calculates the chances of finding intelligent, space-faring alien life elsewhere in the universe. By the way, since we’re (supposedly) intelligent and space-faring, the odds of it happening are even money – us.
The Drake equation goes through various phases – a star that could support an inhabitable planet, the chances that such a planet exists around that star, the odds of primitive life developing, etc. all the way up to intelligent civilizations that are space-faring. As I’m not a religious person and don’t believe in creation stories (my apologies to those here who do), I take such an equation seriously. The chances that other stable stars exist (red dwarfs theoretically are stable enough), that an inhabitable planet could be circling one, etc. are actually pretty reasonable considering the billions of galaxies and countless numbers of stars. Next up is life itself. I’m not a biologist, but my gut feeling is that primitive life may not be all that hard to come by elsewhere. There could be many planets or moons out there in the vastness of space with bacteria, fungi, etc. Heck, perhaps even fish or something else less advanced than humans.
My own thought is that intelligent life in civilizations is the part that’s hard to come by. Let’s say that an asteroid never hit the Earth 65 or so million years ago. We may not have developed, and the life on this planet may not have developed advanced intelligence. Or let’s say Homo Sapiens died out due to predators, natural disasters or intertribal wars (or all three). Then our advanced civilizations would never have developed. Or let’s say civilizations did develop, but never advanced beyond, say, ancient Rome or Greece. In other words, not technological. That’s why I think the hardest part is the space-faring civilization.
So what does that have to do with UFO’s? The odds that they are some extraterrestrial civilization that found us and didn’t blow our planet to bits to make way for a galactic bypass (nod to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) are quite low. Very low. Almost nonexistently low. Besides that, getting here even from another solar system in our own galaxy would either violate the known laws of physics or take such a long time that it would be a multi-generational endeavor, and those aliens would have been more likely to colonize our planet rather than just study it.

When I was 10 yo in the late 50s, my 14 yo sister’s science textbook informed me (and sis too, I suppose) about “The simple cell.” There was a cell membrane or wall depending on whether it was plant or animal. There was a nucleus about which little if anything was noted. There were a few dots and short squiggly lines called mitochondria, about which, again, little was said. It seemed to be no more complex than what the eye could note about a cracked egg. Dna/rna was near a decade away.
Doctoral thesis (WAG) today are written trying to explain the intricacies of the cell wall. Of how it can allow entry to nutrients and beneficial substances such as vitamins and minerals and oxygen etc, yet prohibit entry to harmful substances. How it can allow exit of spent substances.
How just the cell membrane alone works, is a mystery to the best scientists. That doesn’t stop them from guessing. Oops, I mean theorizing.
When the cell divides, the dna strands which are many many times longer than the diameter of the entire cell, separates itself with two of the four linking strands (ACTH) and joins itself with a new complimentary set (each half with it’s new partner) and folds itself into an untangled package doing its job until told (by what?) to do it again.
