“Limited Value”

Guest Post by Eric Peters

We often hear law enforcement – as police used to be called, before America became a police state – refer to us as “civilians,” a term formerly used exclusively by soldiers to refer to the noncombatant population of an enemy country under occupation.

It is not surprising that law enforcement considers American citizens to be “civilians,” given the blurring of the line that once separated the civilian police from soldiery. Law enforcement dresses up (armors up) like soldiers – even to the extent of awarding themselves what are in fact civilians dressed like soldiers military ranks, such a “sergeant” and “colonel” and even four-star “general.”

It also ought not to be surprising that some of these law enforcers regard us “civilians” as being of “limited value.”

That is how a Seattle law-enforcer – Daniel Auderer – valued the life of a 23-year-old woman who was killed back in January of this year when another law enforcer, Kevin Dave, struck her with his vehicle while driving just shy of 50 MPH above the posted speed limit in “hot pursuit” of someone who had “used too much cocaine” and was supposedly  “freaking out.”

But video of the supposed “freaking out” shows no such thing. And so no need for Dave to be driving just shy of 50 MPH above the 25 MPH speed limit (74 MPH) and blowing through intersections, such as the one where 23-year-old Northeastern University graduate student Jaahnavi Kandula’s life was ended by the front end of Dave’s vehicle.

“I fucked up,” Dave is heard saying on video after he ran over Kandula, who was killed while attempting to cross the intersection on foot. She had no idea Dave’s car was going to end her life because she could not hear Dave’s car coming. Dave claimed he had his siren on. It was later determined he merely “chirped” it.

This was the last sound Kandula didn’t hear.

But Dave was not charged – because law enforcers can do with impunity what would get a “civilian” arrested on the spot. Such as driving just shy of 50 MPH over the posted speed limit in view of a law enforcer.

Do that – without a badge – and you will almost certainly be going to jail. Even if all you did was drive just shy of 50 MPH over the posted speed limit.

Even if you didn’t run anyone over.

You would be pulled out of your car at gunpoint, probably – and hurled to ground and cuffed roughly.

In some states, it is considered reckless driving – a serious misdemeanor just shy of a felony all-by-itself – merely to exceed whatever the posted speed limit is by more than 20 miles-per-hour. In Virginia, it is “reckless driving” to drive faster than 80 MPH anywhere – including on highways with a 70 MPH speed limit.

“Civilians” can be arrested on the spot and have their vehicle impounded. It is a Big Deal.

But when a law enforcer does 74 in a 25 – and kills a “civilian” – it is just collateral damage. And someone else foots the bill.

The city of Seattle – that is, the “civilian” taxpayers of the city of Seattle – should “just write a check” to Kandula’s family, Auderer says. For “eleven thousand dollars.” Enough to cover her funeral expenses. That is the “limited value” Auderer placed on Kandula’s life. He can be heard on his own body cam video mocking her death.

“She was just 26 anyway.”

Actually, she was 23.

But never mind. She was a “civilian” and so what does it matter?

She was in the way.

According to Auderer, who reportedly has shown worse than mere contempt for “civilians” who happen to get in the way on a number of prior occasions, Dave’s driving 74 in a 25 without his siren blaring to warn people who might get in his way wasn’t “reckless,” because he was a “trained” driver. Try telling that to a law enforcer when he pulls you over for driving just shy of 50 MPH over the posted speed limit.

Or even ten.

For “civilians,” there is zero tolerance. No matter how “trained” you might be. No matter how “under control” your driving was.

There is never any justification for any of us ever driving any faster than whatever the speed limit happens to be. Or for not wearing a seatbelt. The law is the law. Unless, of course, you are a law enforcer. Then you are a law unto yourself. You are allowed to do the one thing “civilians” are never allowed to do. Tthat being to exercise judgment.

Including poor judgment.

We aren’t allowed to decide for ourselves whether it’s reasonable to drive even a little faster than whatever the speed limit is, even if the speed limit is set so absurdly low that everyone drives at least a little faster – because everyone knows it’s safe to do so.

We are not considered sensible enough to “run” a red light – even when it never turns green and it’s clear there’s no oncoming traffic. We must do exactly what the law says. And if we don’t, we can expect to have the law enforced upon us by such as Kevin Dave and Daniel Auderer, who regard us as “civilians” of “limited value.”

Meanwhile, when a law enforcer is killed by a “civilian” – or by his own reckless driving – it is an occasion for a North Korean-style Dear Leader funeral, with parades of battle-dressed law enforcers and bagpipes for the “fallen.”

It shows us the relative value of things.

Considering who is training the police – and the relationship between normal people, the government, and the police – I’m surprised they don’t call us ‘Palestinians,’ because that is how they are increasingly treating us.

I was deeply bothered by that comment. This is how people think now, that we’re all expendable. There’s no value of human life.

One of my pet peeves, when a cop calls someone a civilian. If I hear it in person, they get a speech from me reminding them that they too are a civilian and they’re not patrolling in Afghanistan. We are their neighbors…….

They are LITERALLY government property/slaves; and people that didn’t go that route are looked down upon. Totally bass ackwards, then again, it clearly demonstrates how mentally damaged they are and how much they really hate themselves to mindlessly obey ‘orders’ thinking it grants them a pass on moral culpability.

How will they differentiate the civilians from the insurgents?

LEO are a quazi military force, who consider themselves at war with the civilians they are hired to serve. Most have a superiority complex and psychopathic tendencies, and are ex military that did not get their fill of violence and killing in the military. Most receive a high from violence and seek to provoke it whenever it is possible in order to use excessive force.
Giving them qualified immunity bolsters their feelings of invincibility and they truly believe they can get away with anything up to and including murder.
Law Enforcement may be a necessary evil, but we must be extremely careful of the people we hire to do it. The old saying goes that anyone who seeks positions of power will probably do not deserve to have it and will misuse it.

They hire based on aggression potential, not because they are really smart. Like politics, positions of power attract the wrong kind of people.

The sad truth is, psychopaths are not always only in positions of government, some are freelancers who prey upon the public, and for that reason, law enforcement of some kind is necessary.
Life is always a paradox where for every action their are equal and opposite reactions. There is no perfect solutions in life, only ones that have the least negative consequence.

Law Enforcement may be a necessary evil

Evil is never necessary.
“Law enforcement” is only ‘necessary’ because most people are too lazy to protect themselves.
They have made a Faustian Bargain, and this is the price.

And what about the vulnerable who cannot protect themselves? Life is a Faustian Bargain, there is no such thing as absolute right and wrong. Life is a paradox, in which good begets bad, and vice versa.
Good times produce weak men, and bad times, and bad times produce strong men, and good times.
It is a cycle, we are doomed to repeat over and over again.

The vulnerable are protected by their clan, or their tribe.
Not sent off to nursing homes or daycare centers.
They are not, nor have they ever been, protected by the state.
The SCOTUS has ruled multiple times that protection is not the duty of law enforcement.
Only an idiot would continue to think that it was.
And you are correct.
In this cycle, many of the vulnerable (and stupid) will die.
And when strong men return, they will end it by caring for the vulnerable of their clan or tribe.

Fuck the vulnerable if they’re calling for tyrany through unconstitutional military style police that follow no laws but their own. Our country did fine for nearly 200 years without militarized instututions of policing for profit. Who watches the watchers? Who holds the badges to account. Certainly not their own kind, or the politicians who invented there badges of socalled authority!

I live in a rural area (conservative of course) and have had several interactions (oddly not at my behest) with police in my area. They’ve always been respectful and courteous to me including when I was swatted. Every officer I’ve ever interacted with from my younger days has been professional. Albeit, I’ve never had to interact with them in cities. But yes, there are idiots among them like in any profession. Did I mention what an idiot Dr. did to me?

I agree, police uniforms have gotten ridiculously militarized. At least in the cities, haven’t seen that around here.

Several years ago I did get a “reckless driving” ticket in VA for doing 80 some in a 70. I was hauling stuff in my standard PU and was getting a run to go up the next mountain (as I was getting tired of downshifting). There was a guy in the slow lane that was passing me at the time so I think the cop actually radared that person, although I was speeding too. Anyway, cost me several hundred to get it reduced.

Cops be professional or noce has nothing to do with it. It is the institution and reason for it that matters. They’re aren’t there for the free American to be free. On the contrary they’re there to insure we aren’t! They’re an unconstitutional standing army for the state and federal servants that have usurped all power and wealth from the rest of us. Even most Sheriffs have become no different than the city police sadly.

“There is never any justification for any of us ever driving any faster than whatever the speed limit happens to be. Or for not wearing a seatbelt. ”
WRONG.
Speed limits are arbitrary in most instances and seat belt laws are plainly unconstitutional. I ignore them both with amazing regularity.

Amen Luke. Glad someone else sees it to. Most Americans seem content to an ignorance is bliss mentality. We are servants, yet so many support this unconstitutional bull shit! No, we don’t have mere privileges, we have natural rights! No one paid for a license to own, or ride their horse, biggys prior to the early 20th thanks to Rockefeller in New York City. City of tyranny! We shouldn’t be paying for our cars or need anything to drive them ! America shouldnt have dmvs or tol roads or cops! America should fucking have an Autobahn though!

Speeding does not make you a rebel, or a freedom fighter, just an asshole that has no concern for the safety of everyone else on the road. Most speed limits are reasonable, and most people drive like shit.

The militarization of the police and the subsequent lack of any civilian management creates a perfect storm of tyranny. The current functions of the police force are to generate income and control the population. Sad.

You wait until the Government turns completely against the citizen, especially if they are vociferous about the Government violating their rights, and the feds have weaponized the jewdiciary to go after them.

Every cop all the way down to the local level will do what they are told to do. Has anyone ever figured out that under Tyranny, there has never been an instance where The Law has supported the People? It’ll be so bad they’ll even have the Firemen on their side, who will be patiently waiting to clean up the mess, while the cops blow up or burn down people’s homes.
