Sure, driving has been risky from the start; but that danger has been growing, fatal crashes spiking, especially since “the virus” was deployed to kill our world. Magazines like Car and Driver started to report the uptick in such accidents in 2020, but (of course) without mentioning the fact that countless drivers were now wearing masks, which (of course) cause hypoxia, dulling drivers’ minds and slowing their reflexes; and, since 2020, driving has turned exponentially more lethal—a further spike that “our free press” also has reported, but (of course) without mentioning the catastrophic impact of “vaccination” on drivers all around the world, who, routinely, either black out at the wheel or just “die suddenly” there, or fly into far more and way crazier “road rages” than we’ve ever since before. (Commenters on these posts have noted it, as I have.)
So, having themselves caused the problem, our masters now have a totalitarian “solution” in the works, which is to turn our cars—whereby we used to get away, if only for an evening—into their means of keeping us all trapped, and under absolute surveillance.

Well, I drive old hot rods so I am not concerned until they come for those. My biggest concern is as a motorcycle rider, all these fools on their cell phones not paying attention to the road. I have ridden my whole life and am amazed that I am still vertical. Since cell phones came out, I have been in more close calls and near misses than even my wild-ass long-hair drinking daze. I am all for tech that disables your phone while in motion. Even that is an overreach, but it would save bikers lives.
+1000. What is amazing to me is how many drivers you notice using phones when you are a rider, as opposed to how many you notice when you are a driver yourself. I firmly believe being a rider makes you a better driver, since your situational awareness skills have to become much more highly developed, or you just don’t survive. After 40+ years of riding, I’ve developed a sixth sense detecting distracted idiots and 99% of the time they are using their phone.
The one benefit to living in british communista are the roads. Windy. So cell phone usage while driving will thin out the cell addicts. I stay out of cities and should I need to be in one, my heads on a swivel.

Me too. About the same amount of time on two wheels. The best practice I’ve found is the habit of looking ahead as far as possible. Left-turners, side road approaches, brake lights showing 3 or 4 cars ahead…

I don’t seem to notice near as many motorcycle riders when I dare traverse Dallas-Fort Worth. I don’t live there of course so don’t know that is absolute. What I do know is the two crazy crotch rocket riders I witnessed on I-30 through downtown Dallas as I attempted to get the hell out of Dodge and go home. I’ve seen the idiots do this many times when I lived in the area, that being passing cars between the lanes as in riding the white stripes not to mention the weaving in and out in order to “get ahead” I suppose. I thought a moment about these heroic actions and just curious are these guys actually on a suicide mission? If they survive they survive, if they die they die. Is it a game of chance and matters not the outcome?
Before my eldest daughter was born, that is exactly how it was, Tex. Didn’t care. Was half smashed and full stoned almost all the time. No helmet, way over 100 mph, shorts and a concert t-shirt. Don’t know how I made it. Then that little bundle came into my life and changed me. Threw the anchor out, so to speak. Now, I am just the old guy put-putting my ‘Glide around and NOT in Dallas. Your car, if it has the typical factory equipment installed is just a remotely controlled drone starting at least as early as 2012 on some models. Remote control goes far beyond shutdowns, over speeds, remote start, entry and lockout. It can also lock your doors so you can’t get out. It can lock your windows so you can’t open them. It can start, accelerate, brake and navigate remotely while you are sitting at the wheel or in the back seat. If you have a late model car, it can be remotely shut down, returned to the insurance company, title holder or owner or anywhere else the drone operators choose. Your car can be used to kidnap you remotely and it is always listening to everything going on in your car. You should never depend on it for escape from anything in a national emergency. You can be sure that there will be showcases where that happens in order to build trust for this technology that will ultimately be used to trap or kill political enemies.

My guess is that the automobile industry will take a major hit with new cars from 2025 on. People will opt to buy used cars instead.
Just one of the many reasons that I did a resto-mod on a ’76 Bronco for the wife. It’s updated with PS, PB, A/C, power windows lots of sound deadening, carpet and a nice leather interior. The 3.9-liter Cummins 4BT turbodiesel / 47RH four-speed transmission /Atlas transfer case makes it capable of 0-60 mph times of around 8 seconds and is capable of 26 MPG at a steady 60mph with the cruise on. BTW, this was accomplished for less $$$ than a new Bronco, BUT it just took 5 years to do.
Next up is an ’86 F-250 4×4 with the old school IDI powerstroke diesel that will receive the same treatment.
The best part is that both of these engines will burn the biodiesel (or a mix of diesel and kerosene, a tiny amount of gas and vegetable oil) with ease and even the oil extracted from soy beans, corn or most any plant that is used to make vegetable oil in a pinch
