When It Comes To Inflation, The Fat Lady Isn’t Even Close!

Opera singer with red hair in a purple dress singing loudly - When It Comes To Inflation, The Fat Lady Isn’t Even Close! - Miller on the moneyGuest Post by Dennis Miller at Miller On The Money

“It ain’t over ’til the fat lady sings” is a phrase that comes from a tendency in operas to end with a heavy-set lady singing an aria. It’s a reference to Valkyrie Brunnhilde’s 10-minute solo that ends Wagner’s Ring Cycle opera.

Sportscasters use the line frequently. One should not presume to know the outcome of the event, even if it appears near its conclusion.

While politicians try to minimize inflation, don’t buy it, the fat lady is home, worrying about paying her bills, not even thinking about her closing aria.

James Rickards explains the propaganda currently being fed to the public:

“Everyday Americans understand inflation perfectly. …. Inflation is one of the biggest concerns of those who live in the real world.

…. Here’s the reality and here’s the political narrative: Reality is that prices have been going up at the fastest rate in 40 years and they are still going up.

…. It’s true that the rate of inflation is coming down, but prices are still going up. They’re going up at a slower rate but they’re still going up.

Increasing Inflation and rising grocery prices or surging cost of supermarket groceries as an inflationary financial crisis concept and the rise of food costs coming out of a shopping cart shaped as an arrow with 3D render elements. - Miller on the Money…. The average price of a pound of ground beef in the U.S. was $5.11 in September 2023. In October 2023 the price of a pound of ground beef was $5.23. That’s a 2.3% increase on a month-over-month basis, which annualizes to over 25%.

That’s the kind of inflation that real Americans confront every day.

…. It is possible to use propaganda to lie to the American people; it can work in the short run. But inflation is not one of those areas where propaganda works. The American people know what things cost, they know prices are going up, and no amount of lies can change that.”

Between 2019 and 2023, the average price of a burger rose from $9.74 to $15.88 – a 63% increase – along with the prices of most everything else. Did your income go up 63%?

Let’s be clear on inflation. It is a MONETARY thing. Prices may rise or fall, but ultimately it ties back to the volume of the currency, and without any backing by precious metals, there are NO LIMITS to how much they can create/print. When they say their TARGET is 2%, they are saying that they plan on STEALING 2% of the value of EVERY DOLLAR IN CIRCULATION, every year, FOREVER. And that is the MINIMUM they will be stealing. And who ends up with the money they STEAL? It is ALWAYS the first recipients of the new money. So the banksters, Wall Street, the government itself, the Arms Dealers, Ukraine, Israel, etc. The insidious destruction of inflation is way over the heads of most in society. That it is why it is called “the hidden tax.”

I have been down here in Amish territory all week and things are getting a little strange. Just today we went to a Podunk town about 13 miles from our doomstead to eat out and the restaurant was busy with tables of Amish who obviously really love Mexican food as the place has been full of Amish the last three times we dined there. The prices were up slightly but after all it is just Mexican and beans and rice should be affordable. Couldn’t help but notice that the Amish over 30 were quite a bit overweight, I would even say more than just chubby.

We dropped into the only grocery store in this small town to find unbelievably high prices. T-Bone steaks were $4.99 per pound while average grade roma tomatoes were $3.69 per pound….WTF? I admit the beef is local but dang, not much of a spread between steak and tomatoes. A box of 4 Haagen Dazs ice cream cones $11.00 which in contrast would buy 2 T-Bone steaks…..again WTF? Produce was extremely high, is there something afoot that I have missed?
