To Those Mocking Safe Havens

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

A word to individuals who mock those looking for safe havens. We do not realize how lucky we are to live in America, Canada, or elsewhere during this current time period. Those who write in desperately seeking a safe haven are NOT simply greedy people looking to evade taxation. People are looking to evade government oppression.

Zelensky playing Solier 2Take a look at Russia and Ukraine. I know a woman with family in Russia. She can visit Russia, but her son cannot. Her son was born in Russia but has lived in America since he was a child. If he were to step foot on Russian soil, he would be required to serve in the war. There are countless Ukrainian men hiding out with their families, praying that Zelensky fails so that the war will come to an end.

Families with young boys do not want to see their sons go to war when they reach a certain age. Young men in these nations simply do not have a future other than acting as cannon fodder in a senseless war that in no way benefits their people. Ukraine is asking older men to join the war effort now too as the replenishment rate is unsustainable. People may flee overseas, but the government will seek them out and punish them if they dare to return. The place they once called home no longer exists.

The government owns them.

Covid Conspiracy RWe are witnessing all governments diving deeper into tyranny amid this wave of private confidence where all hope in government is lost. Many western governments are now attempting to impose ridiculous taxes that ensure the people are financially owned by the state.

Draft Military

The West is already talking about requiring women to serve as well amid this woke ideology where we live in a genderless society where a “birthing person” has no role in caring for future generations as it is the government’s job. Hence why governments are eliminating parents’ rights to choose what their children learn in schools or believe because, as Joe Biden said, your child is “everyone’s kid.”

Power Grab 2

This goes far beyond merely evading taxation. Militaries are continually failing to meet their annual recruitment standards. Younger readers do not recall the last US draft for Vietnam. Families gathered around the TV and anxiously awaited the government’s lottery drawing. If your birthday was selected by the lottery drawing, you were required to serve in the military and leave your life behind.

The drums of war are beating loudly. The West may only be supplying financial aid and extorting its people for financial aid—for now. Our politicians have control over our lives and our futures, or lack thereof.

War is the health of the state.
~ Randolph Bourne

That’s what war is good for.

Abolish the state. Massive war will disappear. There will be troublemakers, but without the amplifier of the state, they will be of little consequence. Stay home and stay armed and trade with any and all who wish to play fairly. Kinda like the founders of America said and Ron Paul and others.

Sounds good but totally unrealistic. All people seek power to some extent and many of them are susceptible to the call of a powerist. With no armies, the stronger, larger, or more vicious groups will always murder, rape, and pillage the weaker groups. Our civilization as we know it started when groups of people banded together and built walls around their homes. They did this to protect themselves from being plundered. When that wasn’t sufficient they created rudimentary armies to fight on the walls. Then some ancient powerist discovered he could motivate his proto-army to conquer, pillage and rape the nearby walled towns without their own proto-army, etc., etc., etc.,

Surprised your response was downvoted as it was spot on. Your explanation is also why I moved away from Libertarianism as it is a great idea in theory, but their is no mechanism to deal with the power problem you described above.

Draft? Don’t go. Conscientiously object. What are they going to do, jail everyone?
Alive and in prison for a short time is better than dead in a field somewhere overseas.
For what? A war that benefits not one citizen of either country. Only TPTB.

Non compliance is the way to go. If forced, kill the messenger. That’s what Jesus would do.

I will most certainly provide safe space/shelter for friends kids and other young people they start a draft for more foreign intervention….,no matter what the charges for such actions may be,in fact, will engage in violence to save young folks, figure we owe them a shot at a better life like we for most part had.

I obviously hope we do not get to that point in this country.

Know who serves on your state Selective Service Board, who their family are and where they live…and offer them an incentive not to serve…

When I was a freshman in college, our county’s entire draft board retired and they could not find a single person to sit on it. This was in a small town, conservative OK, showing how unpopular the war in S E Asia was among the folks back home.

The sons of the Red States have always been the backbone of America’s military…now parents are keeping them home to help defend against the Communist takeover that’s coming.

I had never seen video footage of the draft lottery, only read of it as I was born in the 1970s. That was interesting to see. How soon afterwards did you have to report?

TPM, I was #4. I don’t remember the date of the lottery, but I started on August 26 1972. I guess my state was on the slow side. I was spared the rice paddy.

“Our politicians have control over our lives and our futures, or lack thereof.”

No. Dead wrong. We are in control of our lives. “They” might control the levers of power but they do not control anyone who will not be controlled.

There were only 2 wars the US ever fought for its existence, the Revolution, and the war of 1812.
Neither had a draft and both were won with volunteer armies.
Every war after that, was a bankers war, fought for profit, and empire, most from the Civil War on, had a draft.
If I were ever to fight a war, it would be against the people trying to enslave me.

Graduated college May ’69, at which time my student deferment ended (it was “4S” for 4 years). Wanted to marry my honey and go to grad school, but had the military commitment to deal with-or do nothing and get drafted. In those days draftees were Army property for two years-just like Elvis when he got drafted in 1958. People like Cassius Clay and Bill Clinton took different routes-some said “no” while others lied and cheated to avoid their obligation-just like the future president from Arkansas did. Join up and the minimum commitment you could get was for 3 years, and that was with the Army, deeply entrenched in the mud in Vietnam. A few months before graduation I visited military recruiters, first for Air Force and then for Navy. AF guy was clueless for how I could join up and get into OCS. At least the Navy guy could give some guidance, so I decided that likely would be the way I’d go. That is, if I could pass the physical. Which I didn’t because of injuries suffered in an auto accident two years before. Still, it was a dance with the devil I wasn’t really comfortable with, but took the responsibility to do what all the draft dodgers refused to take. As soon as my “4F” came in the mail my honey and I made final plans to tie the knot and take the next step into our young lives. Turns out I started doing research under a NASA grant and that would have given me a different deferment had the draft board not gotten to me first in the intervening months. Because it was in the waning years of the Vietnam War many did not want to have anything to do with the military while some did. For those who made an ethical and morally right personal decision to do what was then considered “right” I have no qualms; for those who dodged their responsibility-well, that’s a different story-they generally are the ones who went through life showing the same lack of responsibility they showed when dealing with a tough choice as a young man. The bride and I watched that first draft lottery drawing in December, 1969, wondering how many of our friends, buddies, and cousins would find themselves in the “more likely to be drafted” group. There was always speculation about what the “magic” number would be-that is, the cut off point below which those dates drawn would not be subject to being drafted. I was required to take 2 years of Army ROTC at my college and early on decided the Army was not for me, though I was an Eagle Scout and thoroughly enjoyed my many years in Scouting where many skills were learned, including leadership skills. Did not take long for me to learn that Scouting and the Army have little in common, though I have Scouting buddies who did well in the military. Just not for me. I’ll be saying this until the day I die: War will end when the sons of politicians have to go on the front lines and fight for their lives.
