The Hole at the Bottom of Math

For those who enjoy pondering the imponderables, this  thought-provoking presentation about theories which we intuitively know to be true shows why they cannot be proven formally.

Truth and Provability are not the same thing at all.

The video contains a lot of interesting information if you are weary of the latest discussion about you-know-what.

On the Way to San Jose

Do you know the way?

The very first story returned by Start Page was this one:

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-57260869

I visited the “what you can share and what you can’t” page and decided to just provide a link to the article: San Jose shooting: Employee kills eight at California train yard, linked above.

That story contains this little video.  It is short and to the point.

The Story Of One Tragedy In Syria

You hear about either Americans, Russians, Israelis, Turks bombing Syria, along with various internal or external Muslim terrorists on murderous rampages, and you read about all the tens of thousands of deaths, and millions who are displaced and homeless …. and, if you’re like me, it occupies your mind for a few minutes before you move on to the next story.  Or, you don’t give a shit and won’t read it at all.  “Fucken mooslims,  who cares!” Right?  One death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic, said Stalin.

Notre Dame Rejects Biden as the Tide Continues Turning with the Abortion Debate

Guest Post by PF Whalen

The University of Notre Dame is not a conservative institution. They’ve been called out in the past for their leftism, including their advocacy for radically strict gun control. They have several professors who are open socialists, and of course they sing the same songs from the same wokeness hymnals as the rest of leftist America, pushing for “social justice” and “inclusion.” Ideologically and culturally, the University of Notre Dame has a lot more in common with the University of California Berkeley than it does with Hillsdale College. It is for this reason that the backlash from Notre Dame students and faculty against the idea of President Joe Biden speaking at the university’s commencement ceremony this past Sunday is noteworthy… significantly noteworthy.

Fauci In 2012: Gain-Of-Function Research ‘Worth Risk Of Lab Accident Sparking Pandemic’

Via ZeroHedge

America’s top virologist, Anthony Fauci, argued in 2012 that the risks of a lab accident sparking a pandemic are outweighed by the potential benefits of manipulating viruses via gain-of-function research, according to previously unsurfaced remarks reported by Sharri Markson via The Australian.

“In an unlikely but conceivable turn of events, what if that scientist becomes infected with the virus, which leads to an outbreak and ultimately triggers a pandemic?” Fauci wrote in the American Society for Microbiology in 2012, adding “Many ask reasonable questions: given the possibility of such a scenario – however remote – should the initial experiments have been performed and/or published in the first place, and what were the processes involved in this decision?”

‘Florida Woman’ Saner Than Media

Guest Post by Ann Coulter

'Florida Woman' Saner Than Media

Last week, we discussed Rebekah Jones, the crazy lady who wrote a 342-page telenovela about her ex-lover, Garrett Sweeterman, then went on to fame and fortune by claiming Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was faking his state’s spectacularly low COVID numbers.

Before the media turned Jones into their next Erin Brockovich, they might have done 10 seconds of Googling to find out that Jones’ past includes stalking, battery on a police officer, repeated incarcerations, an institutionalization, an ankle monitor, a restraining order and court-ordered medication. And that’s long before the DeSantis administration hired her as a web designer.

These infractions are contained not only in police reports and court filings, but in her prolix manifesto about her ex-lover that she herself posted all over the internet.

National Horror Story Hour

Guest Post by Jim Kunstler

Ryan Murphy reveals political theme for upcoming 'American Horror Story' season

Questions du jour: Can the US government make itself even more untrustworthy? Has it become an enemy of the people? Just wondering. What would be worse, actually, is if we learn that American culture is untrustworthy, since politics is downstream of culture. It would be the equivalent writ large of a human personality at war with itself, unable to trust its own thoughts and actions.

Which perhaps explains the seeming psychosis raging through our society at the moment. The hallucinatory delusions of the day are exactly what you’d expect in the kind of personality undergoing a psychotic stress fracture, like the character Norman Bates in Hitchcock’s classic horror movie, Psycho. Poor Norman (or “Mister Bates,” as Hitch playfully had the other characters call him), developed the unfortunate habit of dressing up like deceased Mother and slashing to death any other female for whom Mister Bates had impure thoughts. That was the 1960s version of the Transsexual Story Hour. We’ve come a long way, baby, since those innocent days.

DUMBASS FAT CAT, CRAZY LADY, & SECTION 8 AT THE BEACH

The start of summer wouldn’t be complete without a reposting of this TBP classic from 2011. When I re-read the story and the comments, I miss AWD more than ever. His last comment ever on TBP to me was to have fun in Wildwood.

UPDATE:  Fat Moe’s days at the shore are over. He left for the big litter box in the sky. The Section 8 couple, skinny Mike and Fat Foul Mouthed Joyce broke up when Mike was sent to State Prison for selling heroin in a school zone. She immediately shacked up with a huge black dude who ended up taking her away to Florida.

We sold the condo in January 2019, so no more Section 8 stories. It was an interesting 12 years as a condo owner. Now we’re just renters.

UPDATE: My real estate acumen has been proven once again. We had the condo up for sale for 3 years without a nibble from 2016 through 2018. We finally sold it for $240,000 – an $85,000 loss after 12 years. The condo above ours just sold for $389,000, two years after we sold. At least I got that big tax writeoff.

Enjoy

I bet you’ve been waiting for another cat story. Well this one doesn’t involve my dumbass cats. The start of my vacation didn’t exactly go the way I wanted. I worked until 5:00 pm last Friday. Avalon headed down with the kids and the cats earlier in the day. I had to go pick up my mother and her fat cat after work to bring them down. I bet you are all jealous. Avalon, my three kids, one friend, one girlfriend, a mother, and three cats in my one floor condo. Sounds relaxing, doesn’t it.

My mother’s cat is the size of a freaking house. She says he is just big boned.

white fat cat

We had to practically pry him into his cat carrier for the 2 hour trip to Wildwood. This cat never meows, according to my mother. Well, from the second I put him in my little Honda Insight, this cat never shut the f#$k up. He meowed non-stop the entire trip. We figured out why he was meowing about 45 minutes into the trip when the aroma of cat piss started wafting through my very tiny car. This was supposed to be the start of my relaxing vacation and my blood pressure was rising by the second.

Fed’s “Favorite” Inflation Indicator Explodes At Fastest Rate Since 1992 As Incomes Crash By Record

Via ZeroHedge

While Americans’ income and spending is normally the headline-making data, this morning’s release will focus all eyes on The Fed’s favorite inflation indicator – the PCE Deflator.

The headline PCE Deflator rose 3.6% YoY, the fastest rate or price increases since 2008.

Even more notably, the Core PCE Deflator soared 3.1% YoY (hotter than the +2.9% YoY expected) and the hottest print since May 1992…

China Braces For Summer Of Floods As 97 Rivers Exceed Warning Levels

Via ZeroHedge

China braces for another dangerous flood season with 97 rivers already exceeding warning levels as of Thursday, according to Chinese state media Global Times. Major floods are expected this summer, and Western media will soon be drumming up headlines about how confidence in China’s flood control capabilities is faltering.

Water levels along the Yangtze River basin and its tributaries are expected to increase over the next week, the Ministry of Water Resources said, adding that major floods are possible throughout the country from June to August.
