Credible terror threat my fat ass. Terrorists don’t warn their victims before blowing them up or gunning them down. You dismiss 640,000 kids because of a phone call to a superintendent? What a fucking joke. Now every dumbass kid in the district realizes they can get off from school by just faking a bomb threat. Are they going to close school ten more times in the next month as the “threats” roll in?
When I was a kid my grade school got a bunch of bomb threats. We evacuated the building for 15 minutes and went back in. It was one of the bad kids in the school having his friend call in the threat. We’ve become a nation of pussies.
There are a couple positives. One less day of government indoctrination for the kids and no decrease in education, as they learn nothing. The LA public school system is nothing more than a glorified bilingual daycare center. How will the cherubs survive without their free lunches?
All Los Angeles Schools Closed Due To “Credible Terror Threat”

Los Angeles police confirmed that all Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) schools are closed Tuesday as police investigate what The LA Times reports as a bomb threat was called into a LAUSD board member. LAUSD is the nation’s 2nd largest district. The LAUSD superintendent said “I am not going to take a chance when it comes to the lives of students,” stating that the threat was made to many schools, involved packages and backpacks, and says he wants every school in system searched. L.A. police chief says threat still being analyzed, FBI has been notified.
Students were sent home from all Los Angeles Unified School District schools Tuesday morning, according to school police.
Los Angeles Unified School District officials plan to conduct a news conference after confirming the potential closure of all schools in the nation’s second-largest school district. Details regarding the news conference were not immediately available.
Los Angeles School Police confirmed that all students already at schools will be sent home Tuesday morning. An employee at a school bus yard said drivers were told not to leave the lot.
The district did not confirm whether the decision was due to a potential safety threat.
LAUSD enrolls more than 640,000 students in kindergarten through 12th grade at more than 900 schools. The district covers about 720 square miles in Los Angeles and smaller Southern California communities.

Los Angeles closed all its schools Tuesday after officials reported receiving an unspecified threat to the district. New York City said it received a similar threat.
The New York Police Department is investigating a threat to city schools that has been deemed a hoax by authorities, Commissioner William Bratton said Tuesday.
The threat was received by a school official via email Tuesday morning, Bratton said at an unrelated event, but was deemed not credible.
Bratton said the threat was generic and was nearly identical to one sent to a number of school districts, including Los Angeles. The email appeared to have been sent from overseas, he said. Bratton declined to describe the message, but noted that it contained the word Allah, but uncapitalized, a mistake that made authorities question the statement.
The threat came the same day that the Los Angeles Unified School District canceled classes after receiving a threat deemed credible. Bratton said Los Angeles, where he previously served as chief of the police department, made a mistake by canceling school.
“I think it was a significant overreaction, yes,” he said.
Chicago got the same emailed threat that LA and NYC did. They closed the schools. If you can even call them that.
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio told reporters that he was “absolutely convinced” there was no danger to schoolchildren in his city.
“There was nothing credible about the threat. It was so outlandish,” de Blasio said.
Police Commissioner William Bratton quipped that it looked like the sender of the threat watched a lot of the Showtime terrorism drama “Homeland.”
Obama said the attacks must not be allowed to cause a distorted reaction that would only play into the terrorists’ goals.
“We will not accept the idea that terrorist assaults on restaurants, theaters or hotels are the new normal,’’ he said. “We will not give into fear or turning on each other.’’

Public (sic) Education is now run by those whose priorities do not remotely including providing what most of us would call an education.
This is axiomatic; all monopolies eventually
1. become their own raison de etre.
2. resources go in, but no output occurs.
This absolutely describes schools. And so-called private schools largely do the same thing.
My wife is a public school teacher and we agree that if conditions like this had occurred 25 years ago our kids would never have attended the public school system. She stayed home with our kids while they were young, and she would have simply home-schooled.
[Full disclosure: Our verdict on the schools has nothing to do with “terrorism” and silliness. It is entirely based on the “Inclusion Model,” where smart kids have borderline mentally-retarded kids sitting next to them in the classroom. This model insures that classes are largely dumbed-down to the lowest denominator…and given that my kids all have IQ’s north of 140, we would not have tolerated that kind of institutionalized abuse. If you have smart kids, you can no longer leave them in the Publics and just deprogram the stupid stuff each evening, like we did.]

Yeah, the Skunkworks guys thought up an FM that details how to do that shit with the gas pipe, but:
1) The FM/Skunkworks version is firmly, almost permanently attached to a rudimentary stock and
2) It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you test fire said improvised shotgun behind a really big friggin tree or a stone wall with a really long string… because fuckin gas pipes have what? 4lbs of pressure? Maybe 6?
And defects. They’re not even in the same league as the old twist barrel shotguns. Sooner or later that shit will explode… and given that dude is holding the end that will go “boom” when it finally lets go…
However, for just “proof of concept” it’s fine. The shit works, but how do you aim the thing? You don’t just wave a shotgun in the general direction of your target. There actually IS some skill involved (see: sporting clays)
I prefer stuff with a bit more… attention to detail.
Correction on my earlier post: the local media mis-reported that Chicago had received a similar threat. The story was promptly pulled. Quality journalism abounds.
Our local high schools are being evacuated as I type this, same MO called in bomb scare. And so it begins, this will become a way of life for a while.
The best part was hour after hour of arial footage for parked school busses. The media is so completely bogus. No wonder no one listens to them anymore.
