MUCK ALERT

Who the fuck knows? I certainly don’t. Maybe Muck can check with his sources and give us the answer. I can’t imagine that Obama would be supportive of oil prices going up to $150 a barrel just before the election. Is Netanyahu that crazy? He strikes me as a prick, but not crazy.

Netanyahu ‘Determined to Attack Iran’ Before U.S. Elections, Israeli News Says

Israel’s Channel 10 reported this week that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “is determined to attack Iran before the U.S. elections” and that Israel is now “closer than ever” to a military strike intended to foil Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

The station’s military reporter said Netanyahu was unlikely to wait for a potential meeting with President Barack Obama in late September. “I doubt Obama could say anything that would convince Netanyahu to delay a possible attack,” the reporter added, before saying that Netanyahu and Israel’s defense minister believe Obama would be pressured to support an attack given the U.S. presidential elections in November.

Ex-CIA analyst Ray McGovern earlier stressed the possibility of such an attack.

The Times of Israel:

The TV station’s military reporter Alon Ben-David, who earlier this year was given extensive access to the Israel Air Force as it trained for a possible attack, reported that, since upgraded sanctions against Iran have failed to force a suspension of the Iranian nuclear program in the past two months, “from the prime minister’s point of view, the time for action is getting ever closer.”

Asked by the news anchor in the Hebrew-language TV report how close Israel now was to “a decision and perhaps an attack,” Ben-David said: “It appears that we are closer than ever.”

Netanyahu is a known proponent of polygamy, and is therefore a strong Romney supporter. He has the ability to sink Obama and get Romney elected, don’t you think he’s going to do it? Of course, or at least we can only hope. Once polygamy is legal in the U.S., it’s a cinch for it to become legal in Israel.

I think SSS would know better than the muckster, btw.

All Israel has to do is take out the oil refineries and Iran is walking in a month, tops. The oil refineries locations are well known and impossible to harden. You can’t proceed with a nuke program if you have no electricity or fuel to get the nuke engineers there.

Iran might close the Straits of Hormuz and the price of oil might skyrocket but the people of Iran are 2 meals away from starvation without food imports, so unless you have a Russian airlift of food/fuel, closing the Straits hurts Iran far worse than the oil-dependent West.

However, the ruling mullahs aer completely crazy SOBs and clearly hate Israel more than they love their own people and it is impossible to deter such people with sanctions.

Just fire up the B52s and bomb the living shit out of Tehran, that’s my advice.

Israel will hit Iran’s nuclear facilities, not the oil refineries, which pose no threat to Israel’s survival. Not sure what prompted your B-52 comment, though. The U.S. will not use its B-52s against Iran. But Israel has aerial tankers to get its fighters in and out of Iran and home safely. The most expeditious route will go right over Jordan and Iraq. Iraq poses no threat for the simple reason that it doesn’t have the capability to do anything about it, and the Jordanian Air Force will sit on its hands because Israel will have an air-to-air fighter cap on the mission which will chew up and spit out Jordanian interceptors in a heartbeat.

Anyway, Israel will strike if it has solid intelligence that Iran’s nuclear program is nearing fruition. It has done so in the past to Iraq and Syria, and it will do so again.

The Mossad is an extremely competent and creative intelligence service. Don’t think for a moment that Israel doesn’t have some excellent humint sources in Iran. It had decades to develop good sources under the Shah, and it has had decades to develop other good sources under the mullahs.

Take a look at the car bomb operation in Damascus that took out Hezbollah’s chief of terrorist operations Imad Mugniyeh a few years ago. In friggin downtown Damascus, for heaven’s sake!!!! That op had Mossad written all over it. It took Israel YEARS to get to that guy, who was responsible for the bombings of the Israeli Embassy and Jewish Cultural Center in Buenos Aires, but it finally did.

Anyway, if Netanyahu pulls the trigger, it’s gonna get really interesting.

I am going for the all time TBP thumbs down score with that comment, lol.

I am only sort of kidding cuz I do not think that anything will deter the Insanians from getting a nuke and using it against Israel.

Then, when Tel Aviv goes up in a mushroom fireball, the US nuclear doctrine comes into effect and the B52s get revved up anyway.

Pick your poison: Bombing them now, killing 10K Isanians and their mullahs, or later, after 1 million Jews are annihilated and most of Israel is a radioactive ash tray.

That’s just the horrible calculus of war, guys, sorry, but, the Isanians and their mullahs ARE NOT LIKE US and you cannot think they view the lives of others in the same moral/societal mindspace that people in the Judeo-Christian world do.

This is the worst time the world needs another war. The world is suffering from severe economic problems caused by excessive mismanagement of currency and the only thing a war is going to do is cause more suffering. Patience is a virtue in an insane world. We went through two world wars that caused mass destruction and human suffering, and one would think we learned something from that.

@Hope: the average Iranian is no crazier or more dangerous to us than the average Israeli, and probably less so. Both countries have insane leaders, but Israel’s Netanyahu is a dangerous warmonger who actually attacks others without remorse, while Iran’s leader is somewhat crazy and threatens a bit, but his scariest purported threats are deliberate mistranslations of what he said, for US and Israeli consumption. Israel is by far the greater threat to regional and global stability. Iran’s hostility to the US has been created entirely by US meddling in Iran going back to the 1950’s. It’s called blowback, you might want to look it up.

I keep saying use the neutron bomb “eyes melt, skin dissolves”, only kills people, leaves the infrastructure intact. The U.S. is always first to use weapons of mass destruction (Hiroshima, Nagasaki), so we should naturally be the first to use the neutron bomb. After those pesky Iranians are gone, we annex the country, claim all property and oil, and tell Russia and China to go fuck themselves. It would extend our tenuous grasp as world reserve currency for another 5 years at least, and we could use Iran as colony much like the British did with Australia; ship all the criminals there. We have 2 million people in prison, and that is expensive, simply ship them to live in Iran. We can also ship the FSA there, where they will be forced to work for free shit. It would really solve a whole host of problems, the neutron bomb.

The nuclear facilities are a hard target, the oil refineries are not.

Israel will have to get the attention of the Insanians before the Insanians will even come to the table and making them all pedistrians is an easy way to do it.

I heartily agree that the Mossad is more than capable of these selective measures and if it can keep the overall body count down and derail the Insanian’s nuclear program, I’m all for it.

I like the B52 approach because it will keep American boots off the ground and away from the IEDs.

Obama pledges to stop an Iranian nuclear weapon

Preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon is a national security interest of both Israel and the United States, President Barack Obama said Sunday in calling for continued diplomatic efforts but also pledging that all options — including a military effort — remain viable.

You guys get a D in reading comprehension.

#1: No where did I say nuking Tehran. That would violate our no first use policy, among other problems. I merely advocate removing from power I’m-a-Dinner-Jacket and the Insanian 12 Imam mullahs, you remember those guys, they’re the ones that the Ayatollah Khomeni thought were too extreme. The actual people of Iran are very unhappy with this gang, hence the GREEN revolution, yeah, the movement for democracy that Obama ignored, that had to be put down with foreign mercenaries. A few well placed MOABs from 50,000 feet is all I’m advocating, although neutron bomb is tempting, tempting. heh.

#2: No where did I talk about “defeating” Iran. I don’t give a shit about “bringing democracy” or “rebuilding the country” or occupying it. We tried all that stuff in Afghanistan and Iraq and all we got was a ginormous shit sandwhich for the Americans who went and the Americans who paid for it. Plus thousands of American troops killed and maimed. What the fuck the Iranian people do with their own country after the Insanians are out of power is up to them. If they call for help, well, okay, but NO COMBAT BOOTS ON THE GROUND. I’m talking about sending a clear and unambiguous signal that the US will not tolerate any uranium enrichment past that needed for medical reasons, ie 10%. Note that Iran is now up to 20%.

#3: No where did I talk about starting WW3. Are you kidding me? Do you really think Russia and China will risk thermonuclear annihilation over Iran? The leaders of those countries love their power and prestige more than they hate the US, and far more than they really care about Iran. MAD and deterrence will work with Putin and Jintao. After all the bloviating is done, Russia/China will be quite happy to have the Insanians removed from power and their nuclear ambitions checked. The rest of the ME will also be quietly relieved.

#4: You are worried about blowback. You know why we get blowback? Because when we do actually retaliate against people who have killed Americans and harmed our interests, we do so with all the force of a wet noodle. (Due the the emasculation of American REAL men.) We apologize profusely, prostrate ourselves at the alter of the UN and the “International Community” and throw billions of dollars of money and aid at our former enemies in some insane idea that this will make them “like” us. No wonder they have nothing but contempt for us and attack us at every opportunity! The experience in Afganistan proves my point. With air power alone, we overthrew the Taliban in 41 days with ZERO loss of American troops. We should have stopped there, but oh no, we had to go on this “nation building” spree. This has been a total failure cuz you are dealing with 7th century savages with barbaric attitudes towards women and children, people who use smooth stones to wipe their asses even when offered toilet paper, so if you think you are going to overlay some kind of Western style democracy and civilization on them, you are crazier than I am being accused of.

Whew!!

Now that I have channeled by inner Ann Barnhardt, let’s hear YOUR solutions for preventing dealing with an nuclear weapon in the hands of the Insanians.

Cuz, THAT, my friends, is probably the beginning of WW3.

We talk about how crazy the Iranian government is without looking at our own government. Our government is trying to put the boot on our throats while we talk about how bad the Iranian government is. Not only that but now after realizing how good our drones have been in foreign service killing terrorists and civilians alike, our government now wants to use them to control and manage our population.

Iran is a country like ours with a war mongering government. So what is new? We can project our power while Iran can’t so what is it to us that Iran is developing nuclear power? Why not the cry about Pakistan having nuclear bombs? We are so two faced. The American Indian didn’t call us forked tongued for nothing. The news media drives us with lies and we believe it. Forked tongue is alive and well in our government.

First of all Iran has to make the bomb and test it. When that happens we will know for sure they have been successful at making a nuclear explosion. Next they have to develop a delivery system. Then they have to have the nerve to use it; and that is a subjective argument that cannot be proved until they actually do it. Then they will be wiped off the map. Do they really want that? I would think not.

People in power that murder others have a fear of being murdered by others. Our leaders who have murdered others in undeclared and preemptive wars would naturally fear someone else developing a weapon that could destroy them. The mind of a murderer always turn to insanity and is very unstable. I would advise those calling for the bombing of Tehran to read the book, “Crime and Punishment” by Fydor Dostoevsky if one wants to get into mind of our corrupt leaders or the other corrupt murderous government world leaders that have put their populations in all types of conflicts and wars. What causes wars is not populations but their murderous leaders. It has been this way all down through history. Just look at what is going on around the world and try to tell me with a straight face if the human race has evolved. We haven’t! Only some individuals have evolved and they left of the scraps of their writings so we can work on ourselves.

Just because Iran is developing nuclear power is no right to invade and bomb them. Sure their leaders are crazy like ours. What difference does what crazy path a person takes? Crazy is crazy. But we are the only ones that actually used a nuclear bomb on another society. So what is our beef? Is it out of quilt? No. It is out of arrogance. We wanted the bomb and got it. And by getting the bomb we opened pandoras box. Now everyone wants nuclear power. Human nature? I think so.

Iran has a population of young people with crazy leaders. America has a population of old people with crazy leaders. The Mideast and South Asia has many countries with vicious leaders. I like China’s policy about dealing with these countries. They keep their nose out of internal affairs of these countries and get what they want. Why is it that we keep our nose out of the affairs of Saudi Arabia and yet stick our nose in the business of every other country in the region? Why the double standard? I expect our leaders to keep us out of unnecessary foreign wars. Iran is one of those unnecessary places to start a war. The best thing we can hope for is the sense to get rid of our crazy leaders and put sound people in power that have not been corrupted by money and power.

I’m still waiting for someone to cite a single piece of evidence about a nuclear weapons program in Iran. Repeated assertions by AIPAC and neocon warmongers do not substitute for facts on the ground, and there is no factual evidence that the Iranians are developing nukes. Period. Don’t you think such evidence would have been trumpeted to the entire world if it existed?

Also left unsaid is how the Iranians would deliver such a weapon. A first generation nuke from a third world power is likely to be incredibly heavy and bulky. It would require an ICBM or heavy bomber to transport over Israel. To the best of my knowledge, Iran has neither capability. And even it did, the retaliatory strike would turn its country into a smoldering ruin. The Iranian government may be devious, but it isn’t suicidal.

When all is said and done, all this nonsensical talk about Iranian nukes is nothing but a pretext for war, which would weaken Iran’s ability to organize its proxy fighters (Hezbollah) in coordinated terrorist attacks. Much like Bush’s lame WMD excuse, the nuke claims are hollow and transparent.

For the record, after the removal of the Taliban from Afghanistan, I was, and remain, totally against all the rest of it. Every time I fill up my gas tank, I am financing those other radical moonbats, the Wahabis, via the Saudi oil fields. Really hacks me off, exporting my money to a country where the women are not allowed to fucking drive or show their ankles or own property or even watch a freaking TV show without a man present.

You are also trying to equate our messing around in Iran in 1952 with their desire today to have nuclear weapons. No connection. The Insanians really really really believe in this 12 Imam stuff. It makes the Christian Rapture folks look like kindergarten story time. There is absolutely zero reason for the Insanians to have uranium enrichment, none, except for the development of a nuclear bomb.

Yeah, just what the world needs – nuclear weapons in the hands of bonefide religious lunatics who believe that their salvation comes after the rest of the world is destroyed – and who are working hard towards that end.

The globe is very small and getting smaller, Jimbo, it is increasingly easier to “reach out and touch some one”.

Especially when the Insanians are developing long range missiles in cahoots with that South American loony Chavez., missiles that are capable of reaching the US mainland either from Venezuala or from a ship out to sea.

Why would Iran broadcast their intentions to attack the US? The first rule of warfare is to SURPRISE your enemy, so no, I do not think that if they are so suicidal to attack the US, they are gonna brag about it. Israel is another story. The Insanians really really really hate the state of Israel and it is within striking distance. The other part of that calculation is the increasing isolation of Israel in the world, led by Obama, the Insanians feel emboldened to go that route.

I’m not saying that Iran is going to “invade” us, or do a Pearl Harbor, thus we must strike them for that reason,. again, a D for reading comprehension.

I have served in the Army National Guard for 22 years. I am an officer and been deployed 4 times to fight for this Republic and I have been alerted a 5th time set for 2014–which will get moved up if Romney wins and we invade Iran as he has all but promised–and my wife, five children and I agree with Matt and Jason…you know the two young men you chicken-hawks are bashing on this tread. Those of you thinking that all this can be solved by invading or bombing Iran should be THE FIRST to have a rifle shoved in your hands I don’t care how old you are or what your gender is. The US military exists to defend THIS country and OUR people and I am sick and tired of people like you thinking you can make us fight for everyone else but our own people and our own freedom. This nation is past bankrupt nearly $100T in debt and some of you want to keep borrowing from our grandchildren to fight more wars which have NOTHING to do with defending this nation! WAKE UP! Besides that, after 22 years of being on the sharp end of this broken foreign policy I can tell you first hand that all of it has made us weaker not stronger. What would have made us stronger would have been following the foreign policy of our Founding Fathers…strength at home and in international waters; peace and commerce with all nations abroad. We should be fully funding the National Guard and training it for full spectrum operations NOT for counter insurgencies in other countries. We should be putting up a fully operational naval and space based missile interception system to shoot down any Iranian missiles the moment they launch and only promising massive retaliation if they launch first. Hey we won the Cold War with that same strategy against a Nation 100 times more powerful than Iran so why should we change up a winning play now? It is blatantly obvious that Iran and its allies are trying to goad Israel into a fight and they want Israel to hit first so they can have clean hands. The 100m life question is…will Israel fall for it? Or will Israel continue to beef up its defensive systems, missile defenses and intelligence operations and let the blow hards blow so the rest of us don’t have to live through WWIII? The message OUGHT to be that if Iran puts ONE BOOT, or bullet, across the Israeli border, then and ONLY THEN, will hell on earth be unleashed against it.”
