HOME DEPOT SUCKS A$$ — DON’T EVER SHOP THERE

One a couple occasions I’ve started a thread just to rant. I appreciate Admin letting me do that. It is that time, again.

A couple weeks ago we order a floor from Home Depot. They send the measuring guy. Fine. They want to charge $80 to transport 10 boxes about 3 miles. I enlist Ms Freuds son and we get it ourselves.

Today the installer comes. He lets us know that if we install the floor the fridge will never fit back in the cubby hole as there isn’t enough clearance for the overhead cabinets. Also, we’ll never be able to remove the stove or dishwasher as the “lip” will prevent it. Also, the wrong padding and wrong trim were ordered. Fuckin A !!!

So, I make two trips to haul everything back. No argument with the material return. We order a new floor. This process took two hours.

I haul all the shit home. Once the boxes are in the house I decide to open one box so I can lay it on the floor to see what it looks like next to the cabinets. IT’S THE WRONG COLOR!!!!!!!!!!!! We ordered light maple. They gave us dark walnut. Fucked in the ass once more.

At 9:30PM we call Home Depot. They fucked up … so I want them to pick up the wrong shit and deliver the new shit at no charge. NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE!! We had two phones calling. The land line we used to call the customer disservice desk. The cell phone we used to call the flooring dept. They close at 10PM. For 30 minutes no one picked up either phone. Of course, the phone message said over and over “Your phone call is important to us …”. Bull fucking shit you LIARS.

They open at 6AM. Guess where Stucky will be at 6AM? I feel sorry for the Store Manager (not really). There will be HELL to pay. I’m not joking. I might need George Zimmerman’s lawyer.

Stuck
What you must do is take down the cabinet over the fridge and trim it to give you more room Also when you get ready to replace the oven or dishwasher you must take a sawzall and cut the bottom legs off to remove them. Make sure to purchase smaller stove and dishwasher to go back in

Get them at the Home Depot.

LMAO. Sounds like shit I get involved in. I had it out with HD once. I was going to buy a washer and dryer someone had bought and returned. I spent 30 min talking to the sales person and said ok I will take the set. This is where it went bad, he stated you must take it with you tonight, it was 15 min. from closing. I politely stated, I am in my car, I will pay you tonight and be here the morning with my truck to pick them up. The dumbass said no that will not work you must take them with you tonight. I asked why? He said that’s just the way it is.

I explained to him the dire situation HD was in, stock price and taken a nose dive at the time, and they were in no position to dictate such a demand. I went on, let me tell you what I am going to do, in the morning I am going to go to your competition (Lowes) and buy a brand new washer and dryer. I did just that and did not walk back in to HD for over a year.

first, the casters/wheels or ‘pins’ on your fridge are adjustable to level the fridge
therefore, you could adjust the wheels about 3/4 of an inch up or down

second, you should be able to lift the stove and or dishwasher up over the lip
having done it here, I know its possible

last……..bitch straight to corporate…they will bend over backwards to make it up to you

Are you for real?
Customer service is a joke, I have never gotten a return call from them out of the 3 complaints I put in over the years. (Still open cases) They’re always sorry, Bullshit.
If you were really sorry you would have to care, not addressing peoples concerns shows that they don’t give a dam. I blame this on the greedy ass of a CEO all the way down.
If you want Lip service call customer service, if you want to get something done boycott them.
Better yet get rid of all the useless customer service SHITHEADS and give the savings back to the customers who are suppose to come 1st

Same colors as Grossman’s I hope they end up in the same place.

Home Despot sucks. I went to one to get a replacement lawn mower. I ask a Storon (store moron) for info about the mower I was interested in. He promptly reads from the corner of his eye the advertizing sheet above the lawn mower in question. I’m looking at it, have already read it, and he recites it to me as if he knew it by heart. Storon knew nothing more. At another point, I’m in the outdoor garden section (all other storons are strangely absent) and I ask the guy at the register if he knows anything. He told me, no joke, “Sir, if it’s not in this little shack, I don’t know anything about it. They never let me leave this shack.” I think I walked out of that store and went to another one, even with a sale on, because I couldn’t find any storons to actually help me. I remember seeing a couple storons standing around watching me, but making no point of actually walking over.

I think Home Despot and bLowes and any other big hardware travesty of a store is a mistake because they’re full of ignorant twits who don’t know anything directly about homes, landscaping, lawn care, or anything they’re selling. You aren’t going to find Hank Hill at Home Despot-just a bunch of English as a distant 2nd language immigrants, lazy highschool kids, and maybe one or two people who know something. It’s depressing. Plus-Why in Hell do they have 15 checkout lines and only 1 person checking people out? And you can’t self-checkout without having help from the other 1 working self checkout? 6 lines are self-checkout lines and 1 person is running back and forth to essentially check you out because you’re not really allowed to check yourself out. I hate the Home Despot.

As somebody who has worked in retail and worked so many crap jobs, Customers calls have always been important to me. Wait, no most of the people working at chain stores don’t give a shit. You can’t expect people making minimum wage to care. Also, you will have the same problems at Lowes. All these chains have severely cut back their workers hours. When you called 30 minutes to close nobody is going to hear it.A lot of companies are working with skeletion crews.

HD is a bare bones operation with low wage that caters to contractors and DIYers who know what they want and don’t need hand holding.

If you want people who know something you have to go to the specialty stores that focus on a one item like tile, flooring, etc. You pay more of course, but the chances of getting someone other than a minimum wage know nothing decreases a lot.

Sorry, but I have no sympathy for this rant. So you got the wrong thing, your world didn’t end. Yes it was a pain in the ass and time wasted. I am a firm believer in not all business is good business. For the most part (excluding Stucky’s actual experience) that most people are not worth pandering to. I no longer humor customers, not worth my fucking time. I would rather piss off people so they don’t come back than to deal with grown ups throwing tantrums like children. When businesses are no longer wasting effort and bending over backwards for people who will not be please no matter what, than good business happens. I would rather deal with good customers who will be good return future customers. No wonder the retail industry is going off a cliff. Dealing with ungrateful assholes, catering to ungrateful assholes, is the reason business are not able to help potential return customers. So, if you want great retail start telling douche bags that throw fits in stores to fuck off. Not only will you feel like the hero for the working man, but you will be speaking for most people who expect better.

Stucky- You get what you pay for. Those cheap prices at chain stores come at a price.

When I worked at Walmart doing electronics I did not give a shit about peoples problems. For one most people would come into to the store “kinda knowing what they needed”. They were fucking idiots. First, electronics aren’t simple anymore. The worst fucking idiots I had to suffer were the Boomers. Probably why I can’t stand them. They refused to learn a damn thing and want me to cater to them. I got paid 9/hr. Not going to fucking happen. I had no reason to help people other then point them to the aisle they needed.

Harsh, yes. But also the store was not paying me for my expertise. The customers were not paying for my knowledge in electronics and systems. SO why should I give a flying fuck if they bought the wrong thing? That is what customer service and returns are for. While I worked there the only thing I did was stock shelves, and showed the where to find things. That is it. That is what I was paid for.

Calamity
Calamity
July 16, 2013 4:04 pm

So I should not be paid appropriately for my knowledge? Wrong again. I am not doing any extra work for any fuck corporate chain when I am not paid to do so. These businesses are crumbling for this reason. No such thing as a free lunch. This why Americans lose out. They pay money for cheap shit that breaks at big box retail because it is convenient. Fuck them. You get what you pay for.

Calamity
Calamity
July 16, 2013 4:33 pm

Oh, also I am going to piss you off more.

1. You ordered the wrong thing. Had you gone to a professional installer in the first place, ordered from them, measured by them, delivered by then, you would not have had any problems. Instead you decided to DIY and got fucked.

2. The process of returning took awhile because you didn’t hire the installer at the higher price in the first place. Also you did not do proper research to know you were ordering the wrong thing. Why? Because you are not an installer. Just because HD wood flooring snaps together does not make it a good idea.

3. HD had no obligation to check your order. All they are paid to do (and paid quite lousy) is to pull it from the shelf, haul to you car, and send you on your way. You are suppose to check your own shit before you leave. The boxes has the descriptions on them, don’t lie, they do.

4. HD is not responsible for picking up and redelivering for free. You would not pay the original cost of $80 to have it delivered in the first place. Not doing so meant that the first round, you had to return it. Had you paid the cost, they would have returned it for free and redelivered. Hauling back and forth all these mistakes were your responsibility. Because you didn’t want to pay the delivery charge. Your problem, not theirs.

5. Nobody owes you a damn thing. They don’t get paid enough. If you don’t realize this, you are the problem. The people that work at HD and Lowes are not professionals. It is a store. They deal with inventory and cash registers. Thinking otherwise makes you delusional. Also, I hope you paid extra bucks for warranties otherwise you are going to be replacing that shit in less than a decade. Its great to be an ‘Merican!.

Also, I have many friends that go to Lowes and HD on a regular basis and don’t have these problems. The difference? They are professionals. One is a carpenter, a few are plumbers, and I know some electricians. Not one has these problems. Then again they know what they are buying and aren’t open to being just sold shit.

Me, on the internet I act like I am King Kong’s great big older brother, while in person I am more like the Incredible Hulk with a toothache and a migraine.

I am easy to get along with – just give me what was promised and that I paid for. I am all smiles and rainbows shoot out my ass then. But if I do not get what was promised and that which I paid for I get downright cranky. I never use a foul word in person, but boy can I lay stripes. Once I had a small problem with an insurance company. One of my mid-level managers heard the entire conversation. He told me later it was the most impressive thing he had ever witnessed – he said I thoroughly abused the person involved for just over thirty minutes without repeating myself and without using a single curse word.

Thirty years plus of dealing with idiots on a daily basis does tend to hone ones skills.

That’s an amusing story Stuck. Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.

Home Depot is the Wal Mart of home improvement stores. Their “install” rates are lower than the market, which means they use idiots who can’t work on their own.

Having women around always results in painting, changing flooring, granite counter tops, changing appliances, changing wall paper, new furniture, new drapes/curtains, and all the other shit that costs a fortune. Once again, the high price of pussy. Prostitution should be legal here, like in every other country in the world. You just pay the price and get fucked. Stucky I found something to cheer you up. Go to http://www.consumeraffairs.com and on the home page type into the search bar Home Depot. HD or Lowes are good stores if you are a DIYer and do your homework. I’ve used HD since they’ve opened in my town over a decade ago and never had a problem with them.

But if you’re not DIYer and want to tackle a redoing a floor or some other major remodeling effort – Don’t. This isn’t building a Trellis over a Saturday afternoon or setting some brickwork around the wife’s garden plot. There’s a lot of prep work involved and if you miss it, it’s headache city.

If you have the money, start getting quotes from licensed contractors and references. Let them handle the job from start to finish. And BTW don’t be in a rush to choose contractors. Think about who you want. Ask questions, etc.

It will save on the stress and stop the wife from taking a frying to your noggin.

So Calamity once again shows she totally lacks ethics. No wonder she goes from one piece of shit job to the next.

Takes an employers money, but if she thinks she is not being paid well enough, she does a crap job and does’t care about the customer. If the customer complains about the crap job she does, she tries to run the customer off. If the employer, who is paying her, asks her to do something she is qualified to do, she refuses if she thinks she is not being paid for it. She actively fucks over her employer, with no regrets whatsoever.

All of that shit is unethical. Some of it is quite possibly illegal. No fucking surprise how she behaves.

Anyone who takes another person’s money should give their best effort on their employer’s behalf. It is not only the right thing to do, but that concept is enshrined in law. But Calamity thinks she is hard done by, and that gives her the excuse to effectively steal from her employer.

Again, no wonder Calamity cannot hold a decent job. She decides if she is paid enough for her to exert herself. And folks like her inevitably feel they are not paid enough, and so feel entitled to screw their employers.

If a person is undervalued, the answer is to get a different job. Not to steal from your current employer.

Calamity is not undervalued. Quite the contrary – she is being paid far more than she is worth. Just how much would any of you pay someone to provide intentionally bad service, to abuse and run off your customers if they complain about bad service, and to refuse to do work you give them? Anyone willing to take a chance on someone like that? Just how much will be enough to ensure that person does not fuck you over? Ten an hour? Twenty? Fifty? Fact is, they will always fuck you over, no matterwhat you pay them. Because they are thieves and are unethical.

Me, I would pay them nothing. She deserves all the bad shit happening to her, but is too dense to realize she has caused all her own problems.

Ba ha ha, what I know about business practices may shock you.

1. When a company thinks all business is good they lose. They lose so much profit giving away free shit to people who won’t return anyway. I have seen so many assholes walk out the door with so much profits it hurts. In a contracting economy when same store sales matter, that is a death trap.

2. You get what you pay for with employees. Many young people only show up to get enough money to pay their bills, that is it. There is no moving up in a company. Most young people will not work like this in the next 5-10 years. Most millennials are too busy trying to build something of their own. Employers shut Mills out of the game long time ago. They are better off creating their own jobs with this economy. Especially when they are always the last ones in, and first ones out.

Re the adage that the customer is always right, here is how I have long run my, and other businesses:

The customer is always right, unless he is lying or trying to cheat you. This can be a judgement call, but with experience and skill I think it is possible to tell.

If a customer is wrong, they are still right unless they are trying to lie and cheat. The reason is very simple – my reputation is my most valuable asset. I prefer to sacrifice profit than have a customer walk away feeling they have been mistreated or treated unfairly. If there is an honest disagreement, the my policy is generally that the customer wins.

The same policy exists with regard to my employees. If one of my employees honestly believes I have made a commitment to him or her, whether or not that belief is accurate, I honor the commitment they believe has been made, with very few exceptions. I do this as it is essential that my word can be trusted. If they think I have broken a promise, even if that is not the case, then that is as bad for my reputation as it is to actually break a promise. If I believe that my employee is being dishonest or is trying to take advantage of this, then he or she tends not to be my employee any longer.

As a result, I believe I have reaped many benefits by making my customers and my employees always right, so long as they are honest. I do not do business with dishonest customers, nor do I employ folks that are dishonest with me.

Calamity’s view is not one to which I subscribe, nor do I believe that it is likely to be successful in practice.

FBS – it is possible, albeit highly unlikely, that Calamity may know something about business that I do not. I am always willing to learn. Re her stuff, it tends to be shallow and not possessing of deep or nuanced thought, and reflects lack of experience, training, and education, and is heavily tainted by a seriously poor set of ethics. She is in for a long series of lumps in business life, unless she somehow comes to realize that it is in her best interests to work every job as if it is her own company, no matter what the pay is. It is actually just as easy to do a good job as a bad one – it is all in the perspective of the employee. She can continue to be the angry young woman, or not. Or not would help her a lot re her business endeavors.
