@Wyoming Mike, don’t know what you mean by “rhetorical”, but on the O’Reilly Factor last night he and Bernie Goldberg discussed and played the clip. Goldberg said the “reporter” had an accounting background and that such an interview should have been conducted by a more seasoned reporter. Furthermore, the way these should be done is to verify the caller’s identity, which MSNBC didn’t take the time and prudence to do, according to Goldberg. The caller claimed to be in the American Embassy in Kiev and saw the plane outside his window when in fact the accident was some 400 miles away. MSNBC should have gotten his name/number and said they would call him back after checking with the American Embassy to verify he was who he said he was.
Of course, for all too many news outlets, it’s all about getting the story out fast, facts and identities be damned.

The sad thing is the troll chose to impersonate an NCO. The nice thing is that, like a good white person, she treated him with more kindness than he deserved. Maybe off the air she kicked in some sphincters but on the air, she handled it in a cool manner. Any TBPer, except for the unflappable I-S, would have toasted his ass with some sharp invective.
