Gratitude

Hat tip to flash. No commentary necessary. It speaks for itself.

Via The Lonely Libertarian

I have mixed feelings about this post. But I’m just going to report the facts as I observed them.

Every year, the local Kiwanis Clubs team together with the Salvation Army and Walmart to host a Back to School fair for underprivileged kids in the area. There’s snacks and bouncy houses, a vaccination booth (don’t get me started here), and each child receives a backpack, lunch box (don’t know why since they all get free lunches), and all the recommended supplies. This year, they prepared 5000 backpacks. 5000. Backpacks. Full of stuff. Free. And they ran out with a considerable number of kids still left. So they issued vouchers to Walmart for the same items that were being offered at the fair. One $10 backpack, one $5 lunch box, paper, pens, pencils, RoseArt markers and crayons, binders and notebooks. Probably about $70 total. Not a bad deal, especially when you consider most of the recipient families have two or more (many more) kids. Take my next door neighbors, four kids all anchor babies, mom and dad don’t speak English, would have received $280 worth of free school supplies.

Now, I’m extremely charitable, I’ll give the shirt off my back and the last buck in my pocket to someone who really needs it. And I don’t expect drippy gratitude, a “Hey, thanks!” is good enough. But when I give someone something, the last thing I expect is hostility. And that’s just a small fraction of what I witnessed at Walmart this morning.

First, I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. You know how they have the school supplies all together in 4 or 5 very organized aisles? You couldn’t get down them. They were packed with carts pushed by adult women tapping away on iPhones with ghetto nails while their unsupervised young’uns battled it out over the supplies. Grabbing, shoving, pushing, rude, snotty little turds. It looked like a plague of locusts had descended on those aisles and nothing was left but some broken boxes of Crayons and scattered sheets of notebook paper. I’d been there about 5 minutes when three Walmart workers finally showed up to stop the three kids who were opening packages of notebook paper and throwing them at each other. I decided the girls could take their old lunch boxes for the first day, and I’d get new ones Monday in the peace and calm.

Moving away from that section towards the food half of the store, I went by the registers. First, I’ve NEVER seen more than 5 registers open at a time. There were 9 lanes open and devoted to vouchers, 9 to 10 carts deep. And I’m telling you, these carts were overflowing with shit. There were two normal lanes open for non-voucher shoppers and of course the self-checkout lanes. I’ll get back to this in a bit, still trying to process. I made it to the back of the store for a quick pit stop before getting the grocery items and getting the hell out of dodge. Walking into the bathroom was one of the saddest and most disgusting things I’ve ever seen. It was trashed, stank, and there were feminine products and feces clogging all the toilets. There was one woman standing at the sinks, crying, dressed in Salvation Army gear. She wasn’t talking to me, but I could hear her saying, “It wasn’t supposed to be like this, they’re so ugly, it’s just so wrong.” I gave her an apologetic smile and left. Got my groceries in record time, practically no one on that side of the store, and scored two lunch boxes from a lonely little display in the seasonal aisle.

I got in one of the two regular lanes, about 5 or 6 back, and started observing the circus. And that’s all I could think, “Not my monkeys, not my circus.” Let’s go back to the beginning of this post, remember the list of items? $10 backpack and $5 lunchbox? These people were trying to ram through $25-35 backpacks and $10-15 Igloo lunch boxes, tennis shoes, pushup bras and thongs, meat items, and one very belligerent woman had 4 12-packs of Bud Light. “Ma’am, only school items on the list.” “But my chirrins need them for they lunches.” “What?!” “My chirrins, they be needing them for they lunches! Bitch didn’t you hear me?” “Ma’am, beer is not allowed in schools…” “Not these chirrin, my older chirrin! They needs these for they lunches!” “Manager to Register 3…” The Hispanic mamas didn’t speak English and were relying on kids to translate. Try telling an 8-year-old they can’t have the $12 Frozen lunch box because it isn’t on the list. Then the whole RoseArt versus Crayola battle. The kids at the Salvation Army fair got RoseArt, almost half the cost of Crayola, and that’s what the vouchers covered. But the RoseArt supplies were hardly touched and the Crayola was wiped out. At the registers, the fights started over, “My kids don’t want none of that RoseArt shit, are you saying they ain’t good enough for the good stuff? Only white kids get the good stuff?”

I was in line for 45 minutes. I got to see and hear more than I ever wanted. The “shoppers” were rude, angry, smug, and beyond ungracious. They attacked the cashiers, the managers, the poor old guy greeting at the door, and any shopper who didn’t look like them. My fellow non-voucher shoppers were looking grimmer, angrier, and a little sick. I watched one brave/stupid older woman approach a very large woman with six kids hanging off her cart ($420+ of free stuff), and tell her “I know gratitude is beyond you, the least you could do is be polite.” The oldest of the boys, about 12ish, menaced her, got in her face and said, “Fuck you, bitch! You owe us!”, while momma smirked in approval. Two gentleman took her and her cart, hopefully all the way out to her car. I finally got checked out, and like all the non-voucher shoppers before me, exited the store by the doors closest to avoid having to walk the gauntlet. It hadn’t taken long for the voucher shoppers to hone in on us. By the time I left, security guards had been placed in the alleyway between the registers and the little businesses (bank, eyeglasses, customer service, etc.)

So this was probably the first time I truly got a taste of how bad it’s gotten, how far society has slipped, how poisoned the populace has become with entitlements. Some people, out of the goodness of their hearts, tried to do something nice for some people who didn’t appreciate it in the least. Things are rapidly getting worse, but I’m ready.

These are third world people. They shouldn’t be allowed to ‘breeze’ into a first world country.

Then, us tax paying citizens are supposed to put up with this?

This entire ‘turd world’ immigration is bullshit.

Well, there’s yet another loss-leader marketing tactic that Walmart local management isn’t gonna be able to justify in reports to Bentonville.

One of the nice things about the private sector is that entrepreneurs acting therein are (ceteris paribus) strongly motivated to avoid repeating mistakes like this one.

You don’t herd swine through a produce department.

Liberals have trained the free shit army to expect free shit, what is the surprise here?

How many times have you heard your parents say, “Money doesn’t grow on trees!”? Me? Too often to count.

I never saw my dad go to work. I didn’t have to wake up to go to school until about 7:30AM …. dad was out of the house by 6AM. I did see my mom, though, drive off to clean houses.

I knew where money came from! From the sweat of my parent’s labor. So, when I got a new lunchbox for school, I was pretty damn grateful.

These feral kids? They have no fucking idea where money comes from. It just fucking appears out of nowhere every goddamed month. That’s one of the big reasons they are ungrateful little fuks. And the only way to cure it is to stop giving them Free Shit.

This article reminds me of why I have developed certain habits. Namely, I no longer give to charities that support human beings, knowing that there is a 95% chance the beneficiary of my dollar will be an undeserving troglodyte. Also, I will only venture into a Walmart between the hours of 5 and 7 am, after the Olde English crowd has collapsed into the gutters and before the escaped Sea World land mammals show up. By the way, I wonder if the author saw a single attractive, nay a single non-hideous looking person at this event? I honestly can’t remember the last time I saw an attractive person in routine American life.

I have seen this behavior doing volunteer work for Christmas in the City in Boston. Sadly the youngest of the kids are the most appreciative, but as they get older the learned behavior from the older children and adults is that they deserve, or are owed any largesse that volunteers give out. Often seeing someone else get something that they did not they become belligerent, sometimes outright hostile. Unfortunately this is virtually 100% minorities at this event. My daughter commented last time we volunteered how many of them had much nicer phones than she had. I had to explain to her that she paid for her own phone, with her own money, that she earned working a job. I left it at that. I could cite several other examples, but it just becomes depressing. On the other hand the weather in Boston is quite beautiful at this time, and I am thankful that I will be driving my only two children out to UMass this weekend. My son will be in his final year studying Chemical Engineering, and has already has a job offer. My daughter will be studying Biology. For this am am forever grateful.

I forget if it was on ZH or this site, but a year or so back, an economist said he asks cashiers when he shops what % of people pay with EBT Electronic Tax Eater cards. I started doing this. The wallyworld cashiers here have quoted me anywhere from 50% to 75%. This weekend, I had a cashier tell me 95%. She wasn’t joking, like a previous cashier was. They’re almost all illegal aliens and they’re everywhere in this region. It makes me sick to see these parasites everywhere. In my old apartment, I used to shop at a nearby Safeway every week. Watching 2 big, fat illegals trying to “buy” organic milk with WIC and playing dumb when the cashier tried to stop them was not an uncommon sight. In fact, as far as I can tell, no matter where you shop, when the illegals go in, they always bring problems. It’s never cut-and-dried, they always make it difficult somehow and the line backs up while they run around the store getting the groceries they’re limited to by WIC/EBT or they find some other way to hold up the process. It really sucks. One grocery cashier, when I asked my EBT question started complaining about how people driving Escalades and Hummers come in and buy Lobster and steak, but they’re on EBT and carrying lots of gold and lots of bills. I can’t wait for the collapse. I might suffer, but at least these parasites will die.

Also, fuck charity. I hate to see people suffer, but if you can’t afford to have kids, don’t. I waited a long time so I could afford to have kids and raise them right. Almost too long. All charity does is subsidize the creation of more hungry mouths. How much poverty have we solved in 5 decades of freebies? Seems like we got more takers than ever before. Fuck charity and fuck feeding the hungry. Let a few starve and perhaps serve as an example to folks on being responsible. The alternative hasn’t worked very well, has it? Folks in the 30s didn’t get much in the way of handouts and they went off to conquer the world.

As a result of seeing the abhorrent behavior described above, my wife and I resolved never to channel our charitable giving through institutions. But how then would we do it? One day, when taking our family to Petco Park in San Diego to see a Padres game, we couldn’t help but notice the homeless population in downtown San Diego less than a half mile from the stadium. The stark contrast between the abject poverty in the shadow of opulence was thought provoking. We decided the next time, that we would bring food for them directly, bypassing the “charity pimps”. When the time came, I pulled our SUV over near a small crowd of homeless, got out and opened the back hatch to hand out sack lunches with a bottle of water. Immediately the crowd grew to well over fifty maybe even close to a hundred ragged filthy people, and pressed in, as my three young sons handed out food through the back seat windows. At first my wife was panicked by numbers of scary, broken souls and the grimy hands reaching toward us and crowding around. But soon her fears melted away as we witnessed that there was no pushing or jostling, no rude animalistic behavior described in this article. On the contrary, what we saw was touching. We heard over and over again sincere and grateful “thank you” and “God bless”. What we saw was gentleness, humility and gratitude. After receiving, many of the recipients came around to the passenger side with sack lunch in hand, and through the windshield or passenger window, looked my wife in the eyes and with heartfelt gratitude nodded a thank you as they mouthed the words. Even some of the late-comers who received nothing thanked us, as if to say please come back again. When the food ran out and we drove away, my wife was moved to tears at what she had just witnessed. So was I. This was no FSA.

My God, who isn’t gaming the system these days? You have 47% of the population taking shit from the Government in handouts as posted above. Then you have the elite criminals passing laws to limit taxes on their wealth like the treatment of carried interest or corporate tax inversions. Not to mention allowing themselves to inside trade.

“While U.S. House Speaker John Boehner and Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp have resisted calls for a crackdown on companies adopting overseas addresses to pay lower taxes, both have made money off one of the deals.”

Then that f’ing hypocrite Warren Buffett, who begs the U.S. Government to be taxed more, makes a $3B investment in Burger King so they can avoid U.S. taxes by buying Tim Hortons of Canada (where Canada has a lower tax rate).

It seems everyone is gaming the system as best they can.

American Thinker had an article a couple years ago called “My time among the Tax Eaters” by a former CA IRS agent. He wrote about how there were 2 different types of people he dealt with at the IRS. There were tax payers, who owed money, and were unfailingly polite and eager to please, and Tax Eaters, who were utter dicks on the phone. They were demanding, entitled, nasty and rude. The IRS wasn’t a threat to them; the IRS owed them. It was a fascinating article.

As I mentioned, I am on vacation. So far I have been to a mid- sized mid-Western city, nyc, and London. I have too many observations to cover right now, but cannot wait to share them all.

But here are a couple.

Mid-westerners are fat, ugly fucks of the highest order. Had to go into Walmart for the first time in years, to buy supplies for my youngest’s first year in college. I mean, the folks in the store were shamus. Some of them were too fat to fit on the little cart thingies they provide for those too fat to waddle. The parking lots were full of new Ford 250s andsuch, but it was clear these pachyderms had not two nickels to rub together.

But here is the deal – the population was predominently white, with a smattering of other ethnicities/races – and they were polite as hell. Wonderful people to be around – even the most tattoed redneck we encountered. Contrast that to the black folk mentioned above.

Nyc the people were primarily much thinner. The why of it seems obvious to me – they have to walk a lot. The pachyderms I mentioned above waddle from the front door to the F250, from the F250 to the walmart, andreverse of that, for their total daily exercise.

Nyc folks were not so much assholes as they were totally oblivious to everything around them. If Iever go back to nyc it will be too soon.

London is a city trying to hang on to its civility. The problem is, they let in black and brown folks, andfucked up big time. They are currentlyaving some kind of fair in Notting Hill. They have had to send in riot police, as the browns/blacks are busy knifing each other aswell as the more gentile whites. By browns I mean mooslims, and blacks = africans. Their multiculturalism has truly fucked them over.

There is much more to tell, but let it be said that the world is not headed in a good direction.

You will see more and more of the animals described in this article. It will not be pretty.

Years ago I used to annually do the “Angel Tree,” the trees were set up in various shopping areas by various charities. The “needy” kids would take an angel, write their name and their wish and then hang them on the tree.

The first year I did this was in the late 80s, it was simply heartbreaking reading these kids wants. “Brand New Shoes my brother didn’t wear,” “a baby doll with a bottle,” “warm pajamas with footies because I’m cold in the winter,” “Hot Wheels cars.” I gave, and sometimes gave more than I could afford.

Flash forward to the last year I did this, 2006. I spent 20 minutes pulling angels off a tree trying to find a kid that really needed something. Instead I only found wishes like, “an Xbox,” “Blackberry,” “laptop,” “American Girl doll and clothes,” “games for Playstation,” and “Air Jordans.” I must of looked a little shocked, the lady manning the table whispered, “our poor don’t seem very poor, do they?”

Meanwhile there are growing numbers of homeless, including children, that we turn our back on. These people are NOT the ones stuffing the free shit lines, they are struggling to get back to the lower middle class without giving up their pride and humanity. Them we have no help for, hell, we are even actively jailing those that try to help.

Give a man an EBT card, then stand back and watch him figure out how to game the system.

Of course, without family-supporting jobs the industrious and proud don’t have a chance. The animals are just going to further devolve until there is literally nothing left to give them.

I’m listening to the HNIC talking to veterans right this moment. Things I’m learning;

— America has been and still is the greatest force for good the world has ever known

— We have the the Greatest Military the world has ever seen

— 10 million jobs have been added since he has taken office, the most ever added for a president

— he basically saved the country from another, even worse, Great Depression

— basically, although we still have problems, things have never been better in America

— Afghanistan is successfully transitioning to democracy

— we will FUCK UP anybody who harms Americans, anywhere, anytime

I am so full of gratitude I started choking my chicken furiously, until the little fucker threw up. Then, one of my single-celled warriors gave me a shout out; — “Who the fuck is that asshole you’re listening too??!”, I said, “That’s your president, dickwad.”, and he was so disgusted he crawled back up the Big Blue Vein to die.

I went to the mountains of N.C. for my annual fly fishing trip with friends . One of our group does renovations on Section 8 housing .

His company is reasonably paid for the work that they do and the ‘average renovation ” that he does cost 22K per unit. This includes new cabinet’s, new appliances , new carpet and a host of over things .

He said every day he see’s the feral crowd asleep until 11am or better. The units have a half dozen or so people living in them even though they’re folks who aren’t authorized to live there . The average woman has three kids in the units . The places are filthy and he said it some times takes them two full days of cleaning just to make the place ready for demolition . When they are done someone will bitch because they didn’t get a new sink ( they used the old one because it had been replaced less than a year before ) .Within a year the cleaned up place looks like a shit again !

So to the FSA…FUCK YOU !

They said soon we whites would be surrounded by these people of color and it would end with the destruction of America. They said this had been the plan all along.Destroy the western countries with multiculturalism and diversity so the Jews would have an easier time managing the world. Most of these Jews were under the age of 30 but they all knew the plan and approved of it.I thank them for their honesty. Admin – ever hear of skype?

Fact is – no joke – I have had to let go of 10 folks since my vacation started. It is a general softening of sales – associated with stuff like the issues being reported by Caterpillar, etc. It is not much fun to have to let 10 good employees go. They were all pretty good. I foresaw the issue and had already put all the plans in place, so my second-in-command only had to follow the plan.

Anyone who thinks the US economy is doing well is full of shit. Good paying middle class jobs have largely gone the way of the dodo. My business is in that niche, but there is steady pressure on us, and the lifeblood drips continuously away. We are very, very good at what we do, but i simply cannot compete against companies with better educated, better skilled employees that cost 20% what mine do. I offer better service, quality, and productivity, but when my customers come under financial pressure, they drop me and go to the lowest cost supplier they can find. It only tends to hasten their demise, but it is understandable that a drowning man looks for any life preserve he can find.

I believe in the long run that, despite the enormous number of political/govt mistakes made, the mistake that will haunt the US hardest and longest is the mistake of allowing the US middle classes” education to drop significantly relative to the rest of the world. High wages plus substandard education = disastrous prospects for the future.

We get very few of the Whale-Mart too-fat-for-the-cripple-cart types down here… just enough to make fun of. Whenever me and my boy hit up the local FailMart for eats – usually the only thing I bother buying from them – we sometimes have contests to see which of us can find the most horrifyingly obese person.

Most are working class folks. Solid and very down to earth. Sometimes you get a skinny farmer in coveralls, Carthartt’s and boots, along with his wife… sometimes roofers or masons or carpenters… rarely, an Amish or Mennonite or two. The cleanest of the bunch are usually the Amish and Mennonites. Folks around here work, and work hard. You work hard, you get dirty.

Occasionally, you’ll get Mammy an da chillins… ass wider than two axe handles, chillins running rampant, etc. We avoid these whenever possible. Mostly because of the stank and bad behavior. Also because their cart (or carts) will be filled to overflowing with shit we can’t afford to buy ourselves, and that there pisses me off…

My boy wears his cousins hand-me-down clothes and shoes most times. I went out of my way to get him a good pair of ‘Wings (ropers) for work around the farm and a good leather belt, but he grows too damn fast for me to invest in “really” nice clothes. Besides, he’s a kid. Whatever he ends up wearing will be trashed in short order. We cut corners where we can, when we can. We don’t buy lobstah or crab or anything like that. Most I’ll do is a nice cut of steak once a month or so, just to remember what good grilled steak tastes like.

As far as the overblown sense of entitlement and hostility shown by the niggers and illegals?

You all are just catching on to this NOW?!? BAAAHH-HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! It is my fondest hope that more people like that Salvation Army woman get bashed over the head with the Clue Bat and wake the hell up…

No, they ain’t “just like you and me”.
Yes, they are bad tempered savages with an overblown sense of entitlement.
No, they won’t thank you for anything.
Yes, they would kill you if they could get away with it.
No, they don’t care that you “care about them”… you’re white, therefore, you’re an evil RAAAYCISS!!
Yes, the world does owe them a favor and yes, you do owe them a living…

And yes, they will burn down whatever city they are infesting if you cut off the GIBS MUH DATS…

My mother used to be a teacher for a famous school for the homeless here in Arizona. She was utterly appalled by what she saw there, to the point that she became suicidally depressed and had to take a leave from her job.

These kids would get new shoes one day, nice ones donated by Nike for instance, and come to school the next day asking for another pair and wearing the same crap they were supposed to have had replaced by the new shoes. Why? Either they or their parents would sell the shoes for cash. They were never grateful for free tickets to the circus, the hockey games, the movies – they only wanted more.

They didn’t care about school, or even being civil – more than one told my mom “Why should I learn anything? I can get by just like my mama does and she don’t do anything.”

This wasn’t true of absolutely every student, but the vast majority were like this. It was political suicide to bring up the fact that these kids knew how to do one thing very very well – take. Which is why my mother became so depressed; when you have your coworkers and supervisors determinedly denying what your own eyes tell you, and threatening your job if you bring it up, it can be very taxing.

The thing that bothers we the most about stories like this free shit Wal Mart story is the attitude.

“Fuck you, bitch! You owe us!”

Really? Owe you for what? Who owes you? Whitey? Society? Why? Because you are a fucking shiftless parasite? Shit like this just pisses me off, I feel fortunate that I rarely have to deal with this crap on a front line level and I feel bad for the decent folks that truly want to help people who need it and are only looking for the slightest hint of gratitude in return for their efforts.

Enjoyed reading what you and your family did for the homeless. Kudos. But I take a teensy, weensy exception to the “charity pimp” comment.

My wife volunteers at a local charity which specializes in just two things ….
– outfitting poor children for the school year, much like that described in the article
– helping people in homeless shelters and battered women’s shelters get a fresh start on life with kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and personal hygiene supplies

This year, for the first time ever, more supplies are going to the homeless and to battered women. Not sure of the reason for that, but it looks like a disturbing trend.

Now then, more to the point. Everyone in this charity is an unpaid volunteer. No exceptions. The charity makes its money by running a thrift shop which is supplied by donations either brought into the store or picked up by the volunteers. No advertising, no mailers, no “pimping” of any sort. Strictly word-of-mouth.

The donations of the really good stuff, from upscale clothing to really nice furniture, nearly always comes from the wealthy and upper-middle classes. It’s by far the best thrift shop in Tucson, and it gets bargain hunters from all classes. Again, strictly word-of-mouth.

The only overhead is building maintenance (the buildings are paid for) and utility bills. That’s it. People who donate stuff and/or send contributions know they are getting 100% bang for their buck. I realize many/most charities run up huge administrative and overhead costs, but not all of them.

Check out the Assistance League, dirtscratcher. All chapters are independently run by local volunteers. And there’s at least one in the greater San Diego area.

One of my sibs has worked in the soup kitchen / homeless shelter in a decent sized mid-western town for over a decade now.

They get paid shit and rely 100% on volunteers. Over the years I’ve asked how the numbers are – meaning meal counts – and the number is always going up. I ask why and all I get is a baffled look back. Perhaps life in the trenches makes one incapable of seeing the forest.

In the years since 2008 I continued to ask and every month the numbers of women and children – whole families – increases from the month before. These are mostly white people with too many kids and not enough manufacturing jobs to live – perhaps some substance abuse and divorce thrown in – but by-in-large they are the ones who were never meant for college yet they went ahead and lived as if marriage, children – not always in that order – were still a reasonable goal. Throw in a house, a few cars and some snowmobiles, big screen TV’s and whatever other “toys” the media convinced them to buy on credit and they were living the dream.

Somehow they all missed the memo that announced the manufacturing jobs were moving off-shore and the circle jerk of building and selling houses to each other was ending and they might need to plan accordingly. Chalk it down to not that bright, not that curious, not informed, too trusting of the media – led astray by evil unions – whatever.

Now they are shell-shocked and scared, depressed and confused – not quite smart enough to distill the MSM’s version of “reality” from the “reality” they live daily – wearing out the generosity of family hanging on by their own threads and with each day they go further and further into “the system”.

I have to wonder if after 2-3 generations of “the system” they too will have the same entitled attitude represented by this post – with little-to-no knowledge of the connection between work and money.

TE, here is what we do instead of then Angel Tree type thing. Throughout the year we keep our eyes and ears open looking for people like a single mom or dad who have jobs and work hard trying to keep their heads above water.

Around the holidays we will buy “housewarming” certificates from the local power company that can only be used to pay a power or gas bill. They cannot be converted to cash. We usually buy enough non-perishable food to provide 2-4 big holiday type meals for a family of four. If we know the ages of the kids we buy a couple of age appropriate gifts for each plus a few DVD’s of relatively recent family movies. We also try to include tickets to a local family friendly event or tickets and a gift card to a local movie theater. We give this anonymously and then start looking for next years recipients.

We generally do this instead of buying each other a bunch of useless crap we don’t need. It’s probably just my general bad attitude but it seems like it’s harder to find decent folks to help out as time goes my.

My wife donates her time working with the elderly. For personal reasons we donate a bit to Cancer Foundations. We are patrons of a local animal shelter where all animals are found a new home and none are put down – it is a special place. We donate to sports organizations, atimes.

Other than that we give zero to human charities. I donate to human charities at the tax office under threat of imprisonment, and there is no way in hell I am donating to charities to help the poor voluntarily until the forced donation is stopped. Which it will not be. I have done the calcs and the amount of money I have had forcibly removed in order to support charity is in the seven figures. The govt thinks it can better distribute money to the needy than I can, so takes it from me at the barrel of a gun. Who am I to argue with them?

The proper place of charity is via private giving, but forced charity has taken the place of private.

I will not practice private charity under these conditions, save to animal welfare, etc. Humans can go see the government, where I give weekly, to collect, as this stone has been squeezed enough.

SSS,
My apologies that I offended you. My comment was not directed toward those volunteers that give of themselves, but at those who profit from the charity industry, particularly the government. I am quite certain that while those that are private institutions do accomplish quite a bit of good, not all that gets donated gets delivered; there is an inordinate amount of, shall we say, ‘friction’ in the delivery process. Those at the top of some organizations reap financial rewards far in excess that I am comfortable supporting. But you are correct in that there are a great many who do great things for the less fortunate and I do not wish to slander them by painting with so broad a brush.

I am quite familiar with the Assistance League; my daughter used to volunteer there before she got married (And she, just today, provided me with a granddaughter! Yaaaaaay!)

“I haven’t been around that many Mexicans so still not sure about them.

Generally, ok, even though they get a bad rap in many circles. Still take a lot of stock in family and/or faith. I happen to like Mexicans, just not the violent criminals running back and forth across the border like it wasn’t even there.

The Latinos from South America (Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, etc) are also good people, as are Central Americans and immigrants from the Caribbean. One thing in common for all Latinos: they don’t like blacks, particularly American blacks. That’s a fact, Jack. Even most Latino blacks don’t like American blacks. Visit black islands like the Bahamas, Dominica and Barbados. Ask the natives (be careful on how to do this). You’ll see what I mean.

None of the preceding generalizations applies to places with Latino gangs. More tattooed, violent thugs who happen to speak Spanish.

You did not offend me. And I share your views on charity.

So, you are a grandfather. Congrats. It’s never too early to think of a title. Mine is Papa. I love it.

I haven’t been around that many Mexicans so still not sure about them.

I ain’t gonna hurt you, bb.

I believe it was LA Weekly that said LA is ~57% Latino. The last I heard, AV has the same ratio since Angelenos moved up here in the last 10 years. This place was predominantly white but it is not white flight that brought us to those numbers, this was at one time a god-forsaken wasteland. No one knew where Palmdale was, much less Lancaster. Film crews and folks looking to film a commercial liked this valley because folks here were super-nice. Nowadays, the attitude of LA-ssholeness has permeated the culture although folks are still surprised to encounter a rude driver or customer the same way folks “down below” are surprised to encounter a courteous person.

If you meet rude Mexicans, they are probably from down below, loud talking, sassing, take no shit from anybody, in your face rude. My wife and I watched a fat ass Mexican woman yell at the white cashier at Sam’s, ‘DON’T WORRY, I CAN AFFORD IT….(walking away) BITCH.” I can’t imagine what the cashier said but most likely the fatfuck had a chip on her shoulder. These are Americanized or ghettoized idiots like black ghetto abortions that scare the fuck out of immigrants who never saw such behavior but from crazy people in their country.

My mom describes some of her grandkids thusly: They talk loud in a way that is not polite in Mexico. I know what she means, it is the brash loud talking of ghetto blacks.

Do we hate blacks? Naw, back then it was weird to see a mulatto and we didn’t want our sisters marrying one but the problem is two groups competing for the same jobs, the same neighborhoods.

Not all Mexicans are on an even keel. My friend took me to his uncle’s house one day. I sat outside on the curb waiting for him. the Uncle, a mad vato loco saw me and asked who I was. He put a gun to my face, I stared at him. He said, what you looking at, do I have cartoons on my face? I told him I was waiting for my friend, his nephew in law. My friend came out and he let me go with a warning never to come back. 45 years later, I still haven’t gone back .
