3 of my favorite shows

The Prisoner —- never heard of it

House Of Cards —- 5 stars

Penn & Teller —- pretty good show, except the little guy creeps me out a bit and he looks like Tim Conway’s twin. Can’t recall ever disagreeing with anything they’ve ever said. Great quote …

“You’ll notice more obscenity than we usually use. That’s not just because it’s on Showtime, and we want to get some attention. It’s also a legal matter. If one calls people liars and quacks, one can be sued and lose a lot of one’s money. But “motherfuckers” and “assholes” is pretty safe. If we said it was all scams, we could also be in trouble. But BULLSHIT, oddly, is safe. So forgive all the bullshit language. We’re trying to talk about the truth without spending the rest of our lives in court because of litigious motherfuckers!” ——————— Penn Jillette

I hope this shows up — “11 Penn and Teller Bullshit WTF moments” … good stuff!

The Wire — “analysis class, race, and politics from multiple viewpoints and perspectives” …. sounds like PC crap, and I’m not interested

South Park —- 5 stars x 5 stars

P & T’s Bullshit is classic. Love what I have seen.

South Park is the best, nothing is sacred and truth is everywhere. Which is why it is universally disliked by those that wish to remain blind.

I had no idea about House of Cards, guess I’ll have to put it on my list. The Wire too. Second time it has been referenced this week, guess that means the universe is trying to get my attention.

Or not. My son just gave me his old Roku player, so I’ll be able to binge watch from my new girl cave soon. Happy thoughts!

Goddammit, it didn’t load.

At the 1:25 mark Penn has a nice copfuk rant — the one where North Carolina copfuks stormed a high school looking for weed … with their guns drawn

Check it out, man.

Other libertarian shows from the past …

Gilligans Island — no government and everyone is happy

Smurfs — everyone is constantly happy, and no one EVER gets in your shit

A-Team — bunch of underground mercenaries hiding from central government who solve all problems by blowing shit up, including people

I Dream of Jeannie — you just KNOW that Major Nelson never paid any taxes on all that free shit from Jeannie

House — the good doctor has a total disregard for authority

Kung Fu — For about 55 minutes David Carradine espouses lovey-dovey, anti-violence, can’t-we-all-get-along bullshit …. and then in the last 5 minutes proceeds to liberally kick the living shit out of the bad guys

Look out Stucky,

If it’s only 9″ long it’s a “Short Barreled Shotgun” under the NFA 1934 and you or Mrs. Stucky owe the US Treasury $200 for the tax stamp.

(giggling)

What gauge would a 9″ shotgun use? If a 12 gauge is huge, and a 20 gauge is smaller, and a 410 gauge is about 45 caliber, then that little thing must be a 1400 gauge, right? Does Walmart sell the ammo?

I wonder what a “Top 5 Statist TV Shows” list would look like.

Well, someone else can comment. I’ve spent enough fuckin time here today, and it seems like after 5PM pretty much most people take their ball and go home.

House of Cards is a great watch

Warming up to the Wire still waiting to get hooked.

South Park is the most honest show ever aired. You know you shouldn’t laugh but you can’t help it.

The Prisoner, no clue.

I Dream of Jeanie, after watching when I was a kid, I usually needed to rub one out so five stars. Next best thing to the Sears catalog.

Stuck, biggest statist tv has to be Law & Order, SVU.

They called parents that don’t vaccinate “killers” and that is just the one at the top of my list. I used to love Law & Order before my eyes opened. Now I wish most of the guilty would get away with it. Wish I would see jury nullification.

Instead it’s all, “greater good,” “terrorism,” “collateral damage,” puke.

Stucky, what about F Troop? As un-PC as it gets, unashamedly so, and peaceful, profitable coexistence between solders and Native Americans wins out over “manifest destiny” and war every episode.

3. You Bet Your Ebola
4. Ebola Five-0
5. Fuck You Afica

SGT Aslin said teevee shows are nothing but indoctrination. He had A TE moment when he realized shows have a moral. Well, their purpose is to draw an audience for advertisers but hey, no sense wasting the time entertaining you without putting in a good word for Big Brother.

OK, Stuck has officially closed this thread saying it is after 5. Do you mind if I comment on bb’s question? His was a libertarian concern, imagine that. Our old boss had certain self-serving unwritten rules. He and his compatriots could take an extra long lunch on Fridays, inner circle jerks could take vacation on a whim while the rest of us had to give a week or two advance notice, his favorite answer to a plea for variance was, “No, but resubmit your request later for a final denial,”

I just read of a new recruiting tool, ‘pre-cation’ where a new hire is required by the new employer to take a 2 week company paid vacation. Ha!, my shady boss should sue for theft of his idea, he hired an idiot who needed to go on vacation before his first day. Normal slobs didn’t even begin to accrue vacation until 3 or 4 months into the job but this weasel gets vacation, secret training not offered to the rest of the slobs and other special deals that mere mortals can only dream of.

So here is my answer, bb. rules are made to protect the guilty and their privilege. The rules are written by the first guys there to keep newcomers in a position of dependency and powerlessness. That’s all there is to that, just pronounce the rules loudly and keep reminding people that there are rules and they will knuckle under. You’ll need a few enforcers, break a few noggins and the rest will fall in line. And don’t get riled up when you notice a select few flouting the rules, that only serves to prove the magnanimous nature of Big Brother towards otherwise upright citizens.

If you guess correctly I will send you my 100% anatomically correct … and functional …. Barbara Eden blowup doll.

Cher was allowed to show her navel, the others weren’t.

Bada Boom! Bada Bing!!

Jeanie had to wear flesh-colored plugs in her naval. lmao There were three episodes of the original Star Trek where bare naked navels escaped the censors.

FT, where should I send the blow-up doll?

Oh, I’ll pass, I just enjoy getting the right answer. Besides, I wouldn’t be able to put Ms. Eden’s current age (80) out of my mind. 🙂

I have another nomination besides F Troop: Maverick was also pretty Libertarian. No aggression, except in self-defense, and definitely self-sufficient while roaming freely across borders. And as poker players, Bret and Bart understood mathematics and economics as well as anyone.

I nominate the original Incredible Hulk show with Bill Bixby — he was always just trying to live his life and stay one step ahead of The Man. He realized even the most powerful violence would never defeat the tyranny of the State, so he kept on moving on, earning his keep but never his peace.

The show also illustrated that the government’s handmaiden is the media, in this case the reporter who kept searching for him — I seem to recall the guy would mostly turn into the Hulk only *after* this jackass reporter showed up and starting causing problems for the good Doctor.

And now, after thinking about it, there were a number of other shows from the late 70’s that would qualify as well — unfortunately, if Grizzly Adams were on television today, he would be ridiculed on John Stewart as a typical conservative isolationist and nutball that cohabits with a bear, while the Dukes of Hazzard would be declared terrorist propaganda by the modern police state for featuring protagonists that steadfastly ignore the law and exposing the police forces as incompetent liars or just outright villains.

Best libertarian TV show was Firefly. It was a short lived sci-fi show that ran 14 episodes in 2002 plus a movie called Serenity.
