Was the Patriot Act written before 9/11? If so, by who?

Of course it was written before 9/11.

It is 271 pages long and was passed by Congress and signed into law by Bush 45 days after 9/11.

There is no way a comprehensive bill changing the security structure of our entire nation was written, vetted, debated, and passed in 45 days.

The bill was written by Cheney, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld and the rest of the neo-con contingent and was waiting in a drawer for the “right” opportunity.

I wish people would stop calling it the ‘Patriot Act’. It is the ‘USA PATRIOT act’ that stands for “Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001”. Whoever thought that up didn’t do it after 9/11.

If I remember correctly they also tried to pass something very similar directly after the Oklahoma City bombing, which was also a complete false flag, in 1995.

Greetings,

The Patriot Act, of course, was written long before 911 just as the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution was written in secret prior to the event. Of course, in 1964, it took congress less than a week from the fictional attack on the Maddox to the passing of the resolution. Things just moved more quickly back then I guess.

By the way, try to find out who authored that document.

Gee,It’s almost like 911 happened just to bring the Patriot act into our lives. It’s Evil!

Jesus Christ, Admin, how can you correctly know the Patriot act was written by Cheney and the PNAC neo-cons BEFORE 9/11, and yet not see their complicity IN the events on 9/11? 9/11 was that “Pearl Harbor” type event they cited that would be needed in order to convince the public we should invade the 7 Middle Eastern countries according to their playbook (which we’re still following)?

Months before the Oklahoma City bombing took place, Biden introduced another bill called the Omnibus Counterterrorism Act of 1995. It previewed the 2001 Patriot Act by allowing secret evidence to be used in prosecutions, expanding the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and wiretap laws, creating a new federal crime of “terrorism” that could be invoked based on political beliefs, permitting the U.S. military to be used in civilian law enforcement, and allowing permanent detention of non-U.S. citizens without judicial review.* The Center for National Security Studies said the bill would erode “constitutional and statutory due process protections” and would “authorize the Justice Department to pick and choose crimes to investigate and prosecute based on political beliefs and association.

Biden himself draws parallels between his 1995 bill and its 2001 cousin. “I drafted a terrorism bill after the Oklahoma City bombing. And the bill John Ashcroft sent up was my bill,” he said when the Patriot Act was being debated, according to the New Republic, which described him as “the Democratic Party’s de facto spokesman on the war against terrorism.”

You’re all wrong. The law was written — or at least the spirit of the law was written — in 1933 by Adolf and pals.
