Question of the Day, Sep 22

For a nation of “liberty” we’re constantly banning things. The list is too numerous to mention. What should be banned in a free state?

A “free state” would be one with no laws at all.

A realistic freedom based state wold be one where nothing was banned except those things and actions that actually cause harm to another (actually cause harm, not just pose a potential threat of harm) or are essential for an effective society and culture (i.e. traffic laws that make roads usable to the public).

]The United States had that once, in its beginnings, but apparently didn’t like it since it was abandoned to establish something else.

Other Anon.

Used to be that when someone thought their TV was listening to him he was seriously paranoid, now he is just well informed.

In today’s world, even your electric meter spies on you.

The purpose, of course, is control of the human herd and identification of anyone on the fringe so they can receive concentrated attention to bring them in line with the rest of the herd.

Stucky,

That means you have to read the content in place of some contrived personality to know what is being posted.

Why isn’t the vendor helping the boy? Did the kid say alla fubar instead of alla akbar first?

Tim, not what you want but what they want. You know, out with the old thousands of year old traditions and in with a New Age, New World Order, New Borders, New Religion, New Traditions, New Language, New Music and Art, New Morals, New Law, New Poverty, New Money, New FEMA Camps, New Chains, same old Elite Slave Masters only New Absolute Power.

The only thing that should be banned is banning

The representative form of democracy should be banned. Think about it, when the U.S. was first launched, it was a helluva trip to the far away states, so representatives were needed.
Flip to 2015 with instant and virtual communications, and we no longer need them. I say, revise the entire system and trim out the representatives and senators, along with all the bullshit that comes from lobbying and the so-called “revolving door” between gov and private ind.

Westcoaster,

You better think that through.

FWIW, we are a Constitutional Republic, not a mob where the most aggressive get unlimited rule over the masses as you would have (and no, it wouldn’t be 50% + 1 doing the ruling, it would be the ones with the most guns and most willingness to use them against their opponents).

All the problems we face are either from outright ignoring our Constitution or from pretending that it really means something other than what is clearly written in it.

There should be some fixed number of laws, if someone wants to introduce a new law, you can only do so if you get rid of an existing one.

How many laws is the right number?

God only needed 10.
