Just before the Crash of ’29 and the following Great Depression, the insider smart money sold everything -every investment- they could and went to cash.

They later bought back everything they sold plus a good deal more and many, many family fortunes were born.

FWIW, “cash” in those days was gold and silver, I wouldn’t predict the same for today’s digital and paper currencies, but the lesson is the same. Go liquid as fast as you can if you can.

Gold and Silver charts look very bullish to me right here, but you can’t go wrong with rifled steel and lead.

The premiums for buying silver are outrageous right now. I’ve seen them 10% to 15% over spot.

No Mike you aren’t. A lot of the down side has come out of the metals, especially the stocks. Buy a good mutual fund and be patient.

FWIW,

Unless you’re talking about a small amount of money, it wouldn’t be wise to put your whole fortune or any sizable portion of it into something that will require you to go on the black market to make legitimate use of it.

And a lot of things that are legal now may not be legal in the near future.

Storing silver safely is nearly impossible unless you have a big safe embedded in concrete in your basement. Gold is better and can be kept in a bank depository. Silver would be impossible to confiscate though (because storing it would be impossible by the government), so 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.

Really, the stocks are better because ending private ownership of stocks is nearly impossible in America but confiscating gold has been done before.

Bukhed,
Dont buy 100 rd mags, like beta-c or others, they are shit and lack reliability. Buy 30 and 40 rd magpul pmags, the gold standard.
Screw green tips, they cost more and poke holes clean through. When you shoot something thats only 55-62 grains, it better open up a bit and tumbles.

Dontbuy complete AR15s, buy stripped lowers. At most shops you can buy them for $40-50 apiece Every other part isnt considered a firearm and isnt serialized and can be easily purchased (ie uppers, barrels, LPKs etc). Rhey will also be available much longer than the firearm itself. Id rather have 2 complete ARs and 10 lowers than 3 complete ARs. Complete kits (everything other tham the stripped lower) can be bought for $400, so one can be equipped to assemble one themself for $450. If you are serious buy 80% as well.
Buy ammo, predominantly 556/223, 9mm and 22LR as they will be in the strongest demand.
Cheap pre-obd2 vehicle.
Invest in yourself, strength, training, knowledge and relationships with likeminded people who are your neighbors.

FWIW, I’ve had good results with TAPCO Gen II thirty round mags for my Ruger Mini-14. Lighter than Ruger metal mags and just as or even more reliable.

Well, they protected the shit out of 17K. Looked like it was dropping going into close and then, sure enough, a miraculous 155 point rebound. No, the markets aren’t controlled at all.

Premiums for sovereign silver including junk silver are insane right now because the world mints have shut down to retool for 2016. Generic rounds are bars are cheap as is gold right now. Online dealers are trying to pre-sell 2016 sovereign silver at a discount but you’ll probably have to pay now and wait for shipment. Don’t expect to be able to acquire junk silver for anything near the premiums of years past. I think most of the existing junk is now sitting in strong hands that do not intend to sell.

Prior to the year end shutdowns, sovereign silver premiums had returned to normal. Snag a few ounces of gold while you wait for 2016 silver to be in stock or save your shekels for the next downturn to back up the truck.

Sit on sidelines for now. Many assets that survive the business climate will be available at reduced prices in a few months to a year. Card is right . If you have the staying power and the balls, short this sucker. (I don’t have the balls).

Mining stocks got utterly destroyed in 2008. On a plus note they were the first to hit bottom, but we are a long way from the bottom.

Mike, to imagine a world where investing meant building value, instead of speculating on inflation. There is too much money out there. There is more money out there than there are productive returns on money. So everyone bets on inflation, orchestrated by the fed. It’s a classic ponzi, Noone gets paid, unless they counterfeit money. Not enough profits to go around. An ounce of gold is an ounce of gold. Who cares about the number. It ain’t going away. A paid off house is a paid off house. Ain’t going away

Harry P…good advice . I have one beta mag…it’s been reliable so far . As to the green tip….punches through 1/2 plate steel….I keep it for that reason. I have 90/10 regular ammo to green tip .

Yep Magpul Pmags are good….I have couplers with the mags. All of the handguns are 45’s with the exception of one. We had a great sale on 22 rounds 500 for $23.99 .

I still drive my old truck, a 1995 F150 extended cab 4 x 4..ODB 1 vehicle. 120K miles and it runs great .

Continue to invest into your tax-deferred, low-cost index funds every month and don’t worry about it (unless you’re an old timer).
