Did you see the Obama interview on this subject? What a hoot! The very idea that the government could not read anything it wanted off a private device is ‘something we just cannot tolerate!’

The leftist mentality was on full display in that moment — we are all subjects of the people in power, and their access to our information should be unfettered at all times! Like hell it should be. We own the government — let’s start acting like it!

Encryption — let’s add it to Bill of Rights!

Encryption is simply computer code. It’s been legal since 1992 when Phil Zimmerman wrote PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) and “someone” uploaded it to the Internet. The moron Feds finally realized that they couldn’t criminalize the possession of words, characters and numbers printed on a T-shirt (which is what activists did with PGP, in PERL computer language.)

I don’t know what all this BS is about, but it’s not about what we’re being told.

Even if the Feebs forced every commercial messaging firm to weaken their encryption and put in back doors, the only effect would be 1) put those firms out of business eventually and 2) push encryption back into the amateur sector where volunteers will simply write applications using strong encryption and push them into the world where they will be free for download.

This whole thing is complete BS. We’re being lied to, as usual.
