Well, according to Krugman those parasites are a vital part of the economy. Especially during economic downturns. Those EBT cards , extended unemployment checks and section 8 housing subsidises , etc, stimulate aggregate demand.

Krugman only half jokingly suggested the cure to the economy’s ills was to discover a hostile alien race and to start to spend untold money on defenses that would never be used, sort of like paying people to move holes around, and he continually pushes the idea of wasting our tax dollars on make work. But to him building the border wall, and I am not necessarily advocating it, would be a waste of money. Not sure how that is different from his idea other than it might actually have benefits, and keep out some left wing voters. Oh, wait, now I see.
