The Olympics exists for the benefit of the International Olympic Committee.
This is where bankrupt countries (like Greece and Brazil) spend money on building useless Olympic buildings, while the general population lives in squalor.

I was all over Brazil in the 60’s. Much poorer then, less financially integrated and certainly cleaner. But I was never bothered, never touched, popular wherever I went, invited in to meet families and break bread with them and generally treated like royalty.
Now the dollar and conquest for riches has turned the place into a shithole in places -including where the Olympics are to be held.
If I were a female Olympic contestant, I simply wouldn’t go. If I were participating in a water sport, I wouldn’t go. They have screwed up greatly in the pursuit of the almighty wealth animal and have no real empire to loot and pump money back into the country.

(Or, maybe, as some would say: walk on a ‘set’ of the moon).
That was about a year after Tết.
Grog… He walked on the moon.. So did the rest of them. I have equipment that I helped design and built and tested through flight-weight that is still on the moon and will probably be there forever; the landing and rendezvous radars used by the Lunar Excursion Module to land and then rendezvous with the Command Capsule that was in orbit. Worked on them at RCA’s Burlington, MA, Aerospace Plant..
So don’t doubt the moon landing like a few nut jobs are doing. We did the job, made it work and made the moon trip multiple times. I also spent years bouncing laser beams off corner reflectors set up on the moon by Apollo 11, and 15 to measure plate tectonics and Earth Polar motion. So I _know_ we made it and did marvelous things in the process.
Brazil Is Murder Capital Of The World, But Rio Is Safer Than Compton, Detroit, St. Louis… Oh great, those are good base-line reference points to judge by.
maybe someone can connect the dots for me. 2009, obama sends money to petrobras/soros in the mix, then deep horizon goes up, petrobras broke. then brazil joins brics, from bad to worse as the latest to fold up is the national telephone service. where is cargill in the mix? reminds me of the ukraine in some ways.

The IOC are a bunch of corrupt scumbags. I really feel sorry for the athletes who bust their ass dreaming of competing in the olympics and then have and then have to decide if attending is worth the risk.
