Our nation, after repeated years of petitioning the government at the time for redress of grievances to no effect, finally got its birth as a result of attempted gun confiscation.
But do we have any true men left today as we had then?

I am guessing that the photo is from Australia. Sad… At the beginning of WWII, the Brits asked for small arms from the US and millions of American people donated their personal weapons, mostly rifles and shotguns, for shipment overseas. Many of these weapons were family heirlooms, but the donors felt that it was important to help out in the fight against Germany. Most of these weapons went to arm the home guard of Britain, held in reserve for the expected invasion. So what happened to those rifles, those shotguns? At the end of the war, they were taken back by the government and scrapped. The lesson? Never give your weapon to someone who has proven that they are willing to destroy it. Sell ’em a lathe. Let ’em make their own darn rifle.
As for “if Hillary was President” — the woman is evil. Bah! I hate to even think about it.
I actually own one of those guns that managed to make it back to the States after the war.
A Smith and Wesson revolver.
Other than additional stamping on it showing British use of the serial number traceable American origin of the weapon, I have no idea of it’s history or how it managed to escape destruction and return here (I suspect a GI battlefield pickup that was brought back).

Rarely has there been a greater zone of “unknown” than is the looming Trump Administration. Lots of people are attaching their greatest hopes or their greatest fears, but my suspicion is that neither will be even close to fulfilled.
I suspect we’ll still be muddling through as the train approaches “train-wreck.”

The people expected to carry out confiscations, rounding up of badthinkers, etc. are not as reliable a faction as we might imagine.
When the social mood does finally turn, I think it’s much more likely that the people manning the enforcement agencies and those directing their actions will be rounding up the (prior) leftists.
History has a tendency to alternate within its rhyme. The late 19th and entire 20th centuries were characterized by leftists rounding up their non-supporters and massacring them. This next go-around I strongly suspect the roles will be reversed.

Yes, plenty of women folk too. Trump got 62 million votes, and I’ll bet half were women. As for “men back then,” Trump put one in his cabinet in a very key position and known by his handle of Mad Dog Mattis.
