At least REM chronicled the epic beat-down of Dan Rather. “What’s the frequency, Kenneth?” God, I’d like to see some journalists get knocked around a bit. I could list about two dozen starting with Megyn Kelly, Dana Milbank, Ezra Klein, Jake Tapper, anybody named Jonathan…
Iska, at least Dan Rather was a bit of a sport about it. It’s only about a minute long.

I saw Letterman talk about Andy once. He said he was always one of the best guests he ever had. He would show up early for reheasals, work out all his bits till they had them down, and nail it when he was on air every time. A pro’s pro. Or as Letterman called him, money in the bank. I gained a lot of respect for him from that. It’s hard work to perform on that level consistantly, especially a high wire character like Andy created. Letterman said he missed him greatly. Great song.
Hey starfckr! Interesting story there. Honestly, I would have though that Kaufman would be less professional. I suppose I have extended the character of his performances to the comedian himself. Thanks for the info!
It takes discipline to pull the pranks he did. As you saw recently, few people can make tard sound so smart as BW did for quite some time. Few people have been brave enough to pull the audience’s leg like Kaufman. Michael Richards couldn’t stand the heat of the audience backlash, Andy only got stronger from the boos. Katt Willams could only handle one heckler at a time. I guess it proves that if you are thin-skinned, you shouldn’t do stand up.
