Enormous condor returns to thank man who saved him years before as rescue creates unique bond between unlikely pair

A condor has struck up an unusual friendship with a man who saved the huge creature’s life.

The man nursed the condor back to health after it reportedly fell from a nest as a baby.

And the condor clearly didn’t forget his rescuer, as video footage shows the pair greeting each other with hugs and one big warm embrace, after the condor returned.

After being rescued, the condor – the largest bird in North America – was then able to learn how to fly and return to normal life.

In the video the condor flaps its wings before appearing to move in for an embrace with the man.

Despite their differences, the pair appear completely at ease in each other’s company.

It is not unusual for the condor to fly back and visit its rescuer, and according to locals the bird is said to return to visit the man fairly frequently.

Animal lovers have hailed the condor on social media where the heartwarming clip has been viewed nearly 2,000 times.

Emma Johnson commented how the video made her day, before adding: “Great people do exist.”

And Roxanne Reeves said: “This warms my heart to see this for a change instead of animals being abused, this man truly has a kind heart and soul and the beautiful condor can see it.”

A man named Edgardo has become a viral sensation after a video showing him greeting and hugging a large condor was released. The condor comes up to Edgardo and nestles his head in the man’s arms and enjoys a neck rub. He even unfolds his wings so he can get an affectionate hug.

This unlikely friendship began after Edgardo rescued the bird. The cattle rancher (estanciero) found the bird with one of his legs hurt when he was just a chick on the patio of his home in Loncopué, Argentina. He nicknamed the bird “Condorito” after a popular comic strip featuring an anthromorphic condor.

“One day in March he appeared here alone and with a broken leg. We were healing him from an injury that did not seem to be serious and from that day he approaches me every time I call him,” said Edgardo to Los Andes. “When I contacted Fauna people [wildlife organization] they told me it was a male pigeon who believe that he was born in October of last year and who apparently had lost contact with his parents,” he told La Mañana de Neuquén.

Might have been a nice video but your parasitic arby’s adds make it impossible with out suffering through them first. I’ll pass. I probably don’t make one wit of difference to this site so won’t be missed but I will bet I am not alone.

The greatest data base in all of human history exits literally at your fingertips……..put it to use.

Look up ad blocking software for your browser. Should be plenty of options out there. You can even look up the video title on youtube and watch it there.

I agree that many animals form long lasting bonds with humans but I saw nothing indicating that bird was hugging the guy. That “wings spread” posture is almost a permanent condition for condors about ten hours per day.

If you’re ever in Boise check out the World Center for Birds of Prey on south Cole Road. They have the worlds largest population of Condors there. About a dozen on display. The rest are raised in a way that prevents them from seeing or interacting with humans as this population is bred for release and reproduction.

Gee that’s a wonderful heartwarming story. Just think if he had saved a little black boy, he would have come back to rape his wife and kill him. There’s a lesson there…

Considering that Condor’s eat dead stuff I doubt you’d want to scratch its head .

Just once I’d like to see a video were the guy spies a lion he had raised from a cub and released into the wild.He slowly approaches the lion, their eyes meet….it his long lost cub. He reaches out for the lion; it attacks him and eats him .

The condor is the biggest bird in the Western hemisphere, not just North America. This one is an Andean condor and like its fellows has no plans to migrate to El Norte. There are quite a few in a nearby nature reserve and they’re a sight to see when swooping around.
