Pretty much. Try being a member of a church where everyone is a government worker or retiree. Add to that the fact that the church flies a rainbow flag on the church gate. This is a Methodist Church. If I remember correctly, the Methodists are the ones who started the Reformation.

No, I am not a member any longer and have not been a member for several years now.

My wife who was brought up a Methodist, is a non-believer, as I am also.

But she likes to sing. A couple of years ago she started signing in a choir at a Methodist Church. The choir director was instructing them to cross out ‘him’ or ‘he’ in the hymns , and substitute other euphemisms. She never went back.

I thought Luther started the Reformation?

No, I haven’t lost faith. One of the main problems is too much ‘attention getting’ from the media. With 330,000,000 people in the US, there is bound be at least a 1,000,000 nut cases.

I think this is all blown out of proportion just for TV and Internet consumption, in the hopes of selling advertising dollars, so the poor ‘phony news’ cocksuckers can make a dime.

This type of day-in / day-out crap does more to distract and harm our society, than the actions of the nut cases themselves.

I’d say White Southerners got fed up with Yankee Tyranny back in the 1850s. Given the Union Invasion (1861-1865), the First Reconstruction Period (1865-1877) and The Second Reconstruction Period (1964-Present); and the DNC (Democrat National Communist) Party, things have gotten worse; haven’t you noticed the Counter Revolution?

I have lost faith in groups of people, if I ever had it. I have not lost faith in individuals.

Jr,
So what do I tell my southern relatives, come family reunion time? Come armed?

Adults should always carry a legal LCR/LCP for self defense. I imagine any multigenerational Southern family will be divided ideologically especially if the kids went to a state college; pray love will always prevail but come mentally and spiritually armed to politely defend God and Country. This should help:

Yes with ‘elements or groups’ society, there are groups within our political parties who vote for their party candidates even though it is not in their self interest. It blew my mind until I heard Bernard Goldberg explain that people place their politics above all else.
That’s why I refuse to vote for one of my senators, he IS screwing over his voters, will keep screwing them over, and even boasts if they don’t like it, to vote him out; yet they keep voting him in.

Yes…… I think it was around the year 1968.

Rhs made a good point about the south being put out with the Yankees since the 1850’s. As long as there are people, some of us will be disgusted about something.

I try by and large to stay away from ‘society’. Most (not all) people are just fine taken individually – they can be reasoned with. In groups of people of more than about two all bets are off. Crowds are dangerous, society is therefor suspect.

I’ve lost faith in the human race. Maybe I never had it? Perhaps it was just some lofty ideal I held in my own mind thinking that humans could do a better job than they have thus far? I can clearly see potential in a small minority of humans who seem capable of setting aside greed but beyond that the human race is destined for The Great Regression!

Come on Yellowstone SV!

Come on SMOD!

Humans were a great experiment but now we’re just forgotten, dirty labware in a laboratory sink somewhere awaiting a final scrub and disinfecting.

Idiots come in all sizes and colors. They make themselves known rapidly if you only listen to them speak. The defense is to ignore them as if they weren’t even there.

If they are using force, make yourself scarce unless you want knots on your head (or much worse).

This sort of garbage is why I have a permit to carry and use it.

Muck,
Love that! Maintain an air of preoccupation, and,
you can pretend you don’t even see them.

Oh oh, dog started roaring. A herd of deer are eating at my
Mr.’s compost pile. One is the biggest deer I have ever seen.
What a gas.

I have always loved life…except for the few stretches
of trial and tribulation. Now that I am WAY out of the
mainstream? Every morning is a gift, and I wake up happy…
to the tune of hungry pets/or man.

Get rid of government and virtually EVERY ONE of these pieces of shit becomes completely powerless over anyone but themselves (and I’m fine with that). Get rid of government and those who wish to peacefully associate for their mutual benefit WILL, and those who are not welcome, will simply not be welcome. Our problems stem FROM GOVERNMENT and the power it is allowed to wield over us, not from the people. Define “society” and then we can discuss further. Government as it currently exists will not be sustainable once the shit really hits the fan. The Soviet Union collapsed “peacefully” from lack of support. Once the ball gets rolling and the support starts falling (especially the financial support), the end will be right around the corner.

“Have you lost faith in society?”

Ever since around the same time I found out Santa Claus was a hoax. I keep friends (real friends) & the kid close. Not so much everyone else.

Santa Claus : Santa watches everything you do. If you are a good boy you will get the GIFTS you want. If you are a bad boy you get a piece of COAL.

God: God watches everything you do. If you are a good boy you get to go to HEAVEN. If you are a bad boy you get to go to HELL.

Hmmmmmm.

Humanity is made up of many societies. Some societies are more civil, educated, and mature than others. A better question would be “Have you lost faith in American society?”.

To which I reply, “Yes”.

Faith is like credit, it should only be extended to someone who has proven themselves worthy and the worthy don’t need it.
