HAPPY NEW YEAR

We’re at our Wildwood condo for the last time. I can’t read on the deck unless I want to die from hypothermia. It’s 19 degrees with a wind chill of 5 degrees. When we make the four block trek to the Shamrock tonight, the windchill will be below zero. I’ll probably look like the picture below by the time we wander home at 2:00 am tonight. I wish all you shit throwing monkeys a healthy and happy new year. I’m sure 2018 will be better than I think it will be. Expect the unexpected. Remember, Fourth Turnings never de-intensify. See ya next year.

Back at you.

-12 right now, gusting winds are 30-40mph. I’m no expert on wind chill factor but I can tell you that we just threw a pot full of boiling water outside and it turned to snow before it hit the ground accompanied with a sound like nails across a chalk board. The steel runners on the flexible flyers froze to the snow as soon as we started sledding from the friction.

Yesterday the blow-off valve in the well house shit the bed and we had water coming out at 100psi. In the time it took to get it cut off I got soaked like Leonardo DiCaprio in that bear rape movie. Took another hour to replace it and finally get into some dry clothes. It’s the little things in life that make you appreciate where you are.

Happy New Years and tell Wildwood I said hey.

-14F here, not counting wind chill. I have a bit of a cold, so I feel it more. Just can’t get warm enough. I keep thinking of that Jack London short story To Build A Fire. I just took the longest, hottest bath I could, trying to bring my core temp up. The furnace is struggling to keep this 110 year old house warm. They didn’t insulate the rim joints back in those days, but you only feel it a couple days per year. Wildwood sounds tropical.

Not as bad as when it’s so cold your words come out as chunks of ice and you have to thaw them out in a frying pan to hear what you said.

Tallahassee was a chilly 60 degrees F at noon today (12/31/17); saw a lot of contrails during my walk about today, they were overhead headed south for some reason.

I can’t help thinking about how my father told me that it was good we have winter up here because it kills all the parasites and cockroaches. It was -15 C (5 F) outside when I gassed up my car this afternoon. I hope it’s a long cold winter, because we could sure use some parasites and cockroaches to not survive until spring.

Happy New Year TBP’ers…stay safe and stay warm wherever you are tonight.

Yeah, they could use some of that kind of weather in Washington, D.C. to kill the parasites.

” was good we have winter up here because it kills all the parasites and cockroaches. ”

Glass half-full..lol! That’s what we tell ourselves as we freeze our asses off.

I took my dog for a walk because I had to get out of the house. I looked like the Michelin tire lady, and I was still cold. Only lasted for about 15 minutes.

Have a happy New Year

Just remember that alcohol makes you feel warmer than you really are.

Minus 23 F. here on the Northern Plains. When it’s this cold, who gives a shit about the windchill?
Dogs are only good for a few minutes outside. Don’t have to worry about them running off, they get their business done and are at the door!
Happy New Year to all TBPers

Jim,

A little advice from the north. The more you drink the less you will feel the cold. And don’t pass out in snow banks on the way home. Very bad mojo. You either die or end up in the back seat of an RCMP cruiser. Either way, it’s a bad evening.

Have fun and stay safe.

If he ends up with the RCMP, that’d be quite an adventure!

Considering the alternatives, I suspect awakening in the back of a RCMP cruiser, might be a relatively benign outcome. Kinda tough to explain to The Missus, but, well, the fact that you are able to make that explanation is a plus.

And a little advice if you do have an encounter with the local police department there in Wildwood. They are punks. Easy to put in their place. Show them who’s boss. Swing first. I guarantee they’ll back down. Happy New Year.????

I don’t often leave a comment on this website … but this needs to be said … ZeroHedge along with TBP are my ‘go to’ sources for THE TRUTH and some degree of enlightenment and entertainment. Another regular reader recommended Dailytimewaster.blogspot.ca. With these three sources under my belt, there is little else the ethernet can provide. Jim … you provide a greater ‘service’ than you probably realize. For that I am thankful and salute you!

I lurk, but haven’t commented before. It’s -12 here (just a few miles from Hardscrabble).

The idea of the cold killing off the parasites in Washington DC implies the very concept of hell freezing over.

I seem to remember Q asking:

Who goes to Wildwood?
What exit is that?
Refer to the map
What is the relevance?
Expand your thinking
What is a perp walk?
There are no coincidences
