Earlier in the week we reported on scientists’ warnings over the “strained” magma chamber within Yellowstone’s supervolcano.
And now, perhaps even more concerning, The Daily Express reports that scientists in California have analyzed 101 major earthquakes around the Pacific Ring of Fire, a horseshoe-shaped geological disaster zone, between 1990 and 2016.
They believe a cluster of tremors around the area could indicate a “big one” is due to hit.

Earthquakes have already struck in Japan, Tawain, Guam and Indonesia in the past few weeks.
Thorne Lay, professor of Earth and planetary sciences at UC Santa Cruz, said: “Based on the clustering of earthquakes in space and time, the area that has just slipped is actually more likely to have another failure.”
He added that “the surrounding areas have been pushed towards failure in many cases, giving rise to aftershocks and the possibility of an adjacent large rupture sooner rather than later.“
The Express notes that the study comes after the Ring of Fire was hit by earthquakes in the first two weeks of February.
More than 180 people were injured and 17 killed when a 6.4 magnitude quake struck Taiwan’s coast on February 6.
A series of tremors on reaching magnitudes as high as 5.7 shook the US territory of Guam.
Three earthquakes have hit Japan since February 11, with the largest measuring at 4.8 on the Richter scale.
Additionally, numerous volcano eruptions, hit the Pacific Rim in January.
Scientists have. of course, reassured the public saying that the activity is normal for the Ring of Fire.
Toshiyasu Nagao, head of Tokyo-based Tokai UNiversity’s Earthquake Prediction Research Centre, told Japan Times:
“The Pacific Rim is in a period of activity. In terms of volcanic history, however the current activity is still regarded as normal.“
As we concluded previously, is this time to panic? Maybe, maybe not. But it’s interesting that the Ring of Fire is waking up and coinciding with news that a pole reversal is near, Yellowstone is ‘strained’, and the sun is approaching its solar minimum which could cause a mini ice age.

Sooner than later on geological timescales is much later on a human time scale.
Earthquake prognosticators are worse than weather prognosticators, and neither have doxastic comittment skin-in-the-game. They need their Sword of Damocles hanging by the Thread of Truth hanging over their head.
Didn’t geologist already warn this year could bring more earthquakes due to their thought the inner core is slowing a bit while the earths surface continues the same speed.
Tectonic plate shifts and all that.
They think this is in conjunction with the magnetic pole shift, which in the 2000+ times this has occurred naturally in the earths past, is now caused by man….
Anyway, with all else that’s going on, why not?
I’m sitting less than a hundred miles off the New Madrid fault line in Missouri and have heard the “way overdue” comment since we moved here five years ago.
And suffering from disaster/doom preparedness fatigue. Am ready to embrace optimism about the future. Where’s that blue pill?

That could probably cause some problems too.
Of the entire Pacific ring the area that has been the quietest the last few years is the US/Canada coast. Other areas have been letting off relatively large (6+) earthquakes fairly regularly releasing a lot of the tension. My guess is that when the US/Canada coast finally lets go it’s going to be not just one but several really big (8+) quakes because of the pent up energy. Would they be big enough and close enough to send Yellowstone over the edge? Probably not. But Yellowstone might not need the help with what’s going on there now.
But then again even “imminent” quakes could be tens, if not hundreds of years away so it doesn’t seem like something to lose sleep over.

No need to worry people……..Your government has come up with the solution……. Along with the “carbon tax” to stop glow-bull warming, they will initiate the “pole shift tax”, the “anti quake tax”, the “anti caldera tax”, along with the so called “dindu tax”. All of these new taxes are said to be revenue neutral, and will stop the world from falling apart. “trust us we know what we are doing”……..
