I have often thought about this concept and I think it is right on. To bring it up to date, I would propose that all these Russia hysterical pols kids be put on the front lines if they want war with Russia. This would shut them up real quick.

Problem is, there’s a hole through Congress in “exemptions” in which rich people and politicians can get themselves and their kids excepted.

This bill would never have passed. There is literally no such thing as government of the people / by the people / for the people, anywhere on the planet, at any point in time in the past 10,000 years or in the next 50,000. There is only government of the thugs / by the thugs / for the thugs.

Greetings,
In the Roman Republic, only the wealthy were permitted in the military because the soldier was expected to furnish his own weapons. Not only did the military consist entirely of wealthy land owners but any soldier found dead with wounds in his back that suggested that he tried to run away would have all of his lands stripped from his surviving family.

At the battle of Cannae, Rome lost one Consul (president), 1/3’rd of its Senate and roughly 20% of its male population. I would love to see the same today with our politicians put in the most dangerous place of any given battle.

Well FMD Nickel, you bring a great idea to the table. We should send the rich kids off to war and make their family pay for their weapons, ammo, uniforms and a meal plan for their food.
Outstanding idea!!

Problem is, after Gaius Marius, the riffraff became a paid army because they did lose too many of the Senate and the wealthy to semi-wealthy families. Same would happen again. But it would be a good experiment to begin with. We could get rid of a lot of the parasites the first time there’s a war.

The other takeaway from this is that only 22 years after the alleged “ratification” of the 16th Amendment, Congress was already proposing using the IRS and tax rolls to violate the rights of citizens it deemed “expendable” (even so far as to indirectly kill them). It has been used as a tool of oppression ever since.

O’Malley, 33, non-vet Democrat, must have experienced a few things in 1935 to submit such a bill.
Did his father or Uncle die on the front, in WWI?
After the roaring 20’s came the Depression, while Ford, JPM, and Mellon were the elites.
Maybe too, he was noticing how things were developing in Europe, before Hitler moved on Poland’s cavalry, with tanks in a blitzkrieg.
Ah, but like asking present day Congress to abide by Obamacare, O’Malley’s idea got shot down by the wealthy elites.
Imagine that.
And just 6 years later, Pearl Harbor, and war bonds, patriotism, propaganda, etc.
Nothing really changes, and history repeats.
Where the hell will we be, in 2025?

Greetings,
The Polish military was geared to fight the Soviet Union and fighting with the Soviets in 1920-1921 demonstrated the effectiveness of having horses to move soldiers and guns around. Even the Germans would enter Stalingrad with horse drawn artillery and themselves used horses to move material and soldiers around throughout the war.

Where the Poles really messed with the Germans was their use of armored trains which they drove right into the fighting and then proceeded to tear up ground targets. The Germans were so impressed that they started building their own armored trains.

Good Idea

The bill to end all wars. What happened to the cheeseheads they went from O’ Malley to Ryan but I suspect Ryan is a FIB border crasher.

Have the draft and make it so everyone has something to lose. Otherwise, all our military actions are something other people do. it would end a lot of the crap going on now.

I think Congressional family members should be first in line …

I think the income tax is illegal and the government should not have any business knowing how much anyone makes.

After Congressional family members are conscripted, it should be a draft with no B.S. deferments at ALL.

This would force the clowns in Congress to do their jobs honorably, perhaps?
