I love the picture. I personally don’t want a grass burner in my future. However, the picture nails the concept of better use. I would rather give up a few BS extras in my car than go back to horse and buggy or electric car. Lets start looking at the car as the tool it should be. The way I see it, the electric car is the most inefficient path. The horse and buggy most labor intensive and the fossil fuel car, without all the frills, most practical. Where in heavens name did common sense go?

Common sense left a long time ago in the US auto industry. The automakers got in bed with uncle (epa) to keep raising emission standards to keep the 3rd world out and limit competition. It was sold as ‘helping the environment’, but nothing could be further from the truth.
The facts are that autos were very clean around the late 90’s, but they kept increasing small percentage increases. Very little benefit except it keeps the auto’s made in the rest of the world out of our marketplace (for fractions of the costs).
We pay………….a lot.
The same thing is now happening with E-cars. They know that they can’t make the internal combustion engine any better (even with all this new expensive crazy tech in them), so they will have to change the game to E-cars to keep the major car companies going a little while longer.
We are, and have been, manipulated to ridiculous levels of transportation costs that effects the low and middle class the most.
A good example is a 1997 chevy truck. It now costs more than 2 times what it did then, and yet it only gets about 3-4 mpg better than back then. How much would that 1997 truck cost to make today?

Oldtimer,

I loved the photo too. I’d rather have a good draft horse and that custom buggy than a Tesla!

Feeding the horse vs. electric bill for the Tesla? Not sure, probably close.
