A Nation at War With Itself

A Nation at War With Itself

The media are already salivating over the possible removal of a president they have come to loathe more than their great nemeses of the 20th century — Joe McCarthy and Richard Nixon. And the media will reward those who echo the call for impeachment…

President Donald Trump has decided to cease cooperating with what he sees, not incorrectly, as a Beltway conspiracy that is out to destroy him.

“We’re fighting all the subpoenas,” Trump said Wednesday. “These aren’t, like, impartial people. The Democrats are out to win in 2020.”

Thus the Treasury Department just breezed by a deadline from the House Ways and Means Committee to deliver Trump’s tax returns.

Thus the White House will invoke executive privilege to deny the House Judiciary Committee access to ex-White House counsel Don McGahn, who spent 30 hours being interrogated by Robert Mueller’s team.

Thus the Justice Department is withholding from the Oversight Committee subpoenaed documents dealing with the decision to include a question on the 2020 Census about citizenship status.

Across the capital, the barricades are going up figuratively as they did physically in the 1960s and ’70s. Once more, it’s us against them.

Cognizant of the new reality, Trump seems to be saying:

These House investigations constitute a massive political assault, in collusion with a hostile media, to destroy my presidency.

We do not intend to cooperate in our own destruction. We are not going to play our assigned role in this scripted farce. We will resist their subpoenas all the way to November 2020. Let the people then decide the fate and future of the Trump presidency — and that of Nancy Pelosi’s House.

In response to Trump’s resort to massive resistance, Rep. Gerald Connolly said: “A respect for the limits of your branch of government, a respect for the role of other branches of government, is sort of the oil that makes the machinery work. … Absent that this breaks down. And I think we’re definitely seeing that.”

Connolly is not wrong. But the requisite mutual respect between the Democratic House and the Republican White House simply does not exist. It broke down a long time ago.

The campaign of 2020 is on. And the stakes are huge. Not only are the first and second branches of government in play, so, too, is the third, the Supreme Court. Many Democrats, refusing to accept the success of the 50-year conservative long march to capture the court, are determined to pack an expanded court with liberal justices to overturn the conservatives’ victory.

With Republicans having won two presidential elections in 20 years, with fewer popular votes, Democrats are also resolved to rewrite the Constitution and abolish the Electoral College.

Not only ex-convicts but felons in prison must now be allowed to vote, says Bernie Sanders, even if that means the Boston Marathon bomber.

Under the Sanders reform, if someone murders you, he is still entitled to an absentee ballot. The right to vote is apparently more sacred than the right to life. Truly, this is the divination of democracy.

Trump’s defiance of House subpoenas will fire up his base, which sees the world as he does and has never cottoned to what President Gerald Ford cherished as “the politics of compromise and consensus.”

Whatever may be said about the “deplorables,” they are not obtuse. They do not believe that people who call them racists, sexists, nativists and bigots are friends and merely colleagues of another party or persuasion.

Trump’s defiance of subpoenas, however, will force the more moderate Democrats to join the militants in calling for hearings on impeachment in the House Judiciary Committee, which is where we are headed.

The media are already salivating over the possible removal of a president they have come to loathe more than their great nemeses of the 20th century — Joe McCarthy and Richard Nixon.

And the media will reward those who echo the call for impeachment.

This week, two more Democrats running for president, including Sen. Kamala Harris, came aboard. Soon, the House will capitulate to the clamor and the stampede will be on.

The problem for Democrats?

Attempting to overturn the election of 2016 and remove a president who has the passionate support of a third of the nation will sunder the Democratic Party base as surely as it will unite the Republicans.

Should impeachment succeed, a wound would be inflicted on the American body politic that would take years to heal.

In the longer run, however, the question being raised today goes to the long-term health of the republic itself.

America surely does not lack for diversity. Its diversity — racial, religious, cultural, ethnic, ideological, political — is visible and ever-growing. What is missing is the concomitant of unity.

Moreover, it is the more racially, culturally, religiously, ethnically, and ideologically diverse of the parties, the Democrats, that seems the more splintered than a Republican Party that is supposed to be afflicted with the incurable and fatal disease of Trumpism.

The questions raised by the present state of our politics, which might fairly be described as an American civil war without arms, are these: How does a nation so divided stand united in the world?

And if it cannot stand united in the world, how long does it remain a great nation?

We have already destroyed ourselves. The end is playing out now.

The Dems have no policy ideas, except to get Trump. That makes them irrelevant. They will loose the rest of their base, if they offer no ideas, or agenda other than destroying the constitution.

We haven’t completely destroyed ourselves but the decline is very advanced. There’s still lots and lots of meat to pick off the carcass. When that is gone, watch out. Probably won’t happen in my lifetime though. What folks my age and older will get to watch is the death by a thousand cuts.

“And if it cannot stand united in the world, how long does it remain a great nation?”

America will not. It’s foundation has been crumbling since the death of JFK and perhaps before. A house divided among itself cannot stand. The bricks of nationalism, freedom and rights of the people will fall, and the constitutional ceiling will come crashing down on the rubble. All that will remain are the ruins of a once great nation, with a few determined champions to rebuild

I still think our country, with all its faults, kicks ass. About half the country has some really strange thinking and ideas for the future. Not much of their thinking makes any sense. Anti American. I don’t want the America they are pushing.

They don’t care what you want. They don’t care if you think they make sense or not. You either submit or are destroyed. That’s the only deal on the table.

The choke point for all those leftist dreams of an expanded Supreme Court and going back to State income tax deductiability on federal taxes, is the SENATE.

It would take a red state rat taking bribes to vote against the people who elected him.

Being once of the swamp is simply the point of infection leading to perpetual herpetic lesions of the intellect. There’s no coming back from this point to a united nation – so yes. Delusion is exactly the correct interpretation. Same way Germany couldn’t be redivided along its US v USSR lines once the gates on the wall opened that night. It’s all over but the direct-to-dvd movies 20 years from now.

I don’t recall “moderate” Dhimmicrats being energized and outraged when the previous administration committed literally hundreds of felonies from Fast & Furious onward and refused to provide any documents and refused to investigate or prosecute administration and DNC people who refused to answer subpoenas etc etc etc. Eric Holder is the only cabinet member in US history held in contempt of Congress.
Trump is absolutely correct. I voted for this guy because he is the only “Republican” who has ever understood and played the dirty Dem game by their rules. As I stated many times, he understood with Hillary that you go down in the mud with her as far as she wants and punch her in the face the entire time. They are big mouth bully shitheads and Trump is the kid who goes back in from recess with the no longer so tough and scary blowhards crying and bloody on the playground.
I don’t give a flying fuque what anybody else thinks about him. I see him as the kind of leader we always needed, who would fight as hard for us as we have been suckered into fighting for the RINO’s in the past. As Lincoln said when hearing from Grant’s critics: “But damn it, this man fights!”

Absolutely! Well, except for the whole wall and secure borders thing…oh, and Obamacare. Then there is the matter of being Israel’s sock puppet. Campaigning against “fake” statistics like unemployment numbers and then embracing them once elected. But yeah–what a fighter!

I imagine you are one of those who expected him to take on the whole fucking deep state, backstabbing RINO’s, the opposition party and deliver the Eschaton by morning? He’s done better than anybody I can recall without any help from you “Qweekstraw.”

How does a nation so divided stand united in the world?

It does not. Soon after the divide becomes irreconcilable (a point which it may have reached already), the violence will start. The globalist PTB will allow war to rage – to reduce the population to a more manageable level – and then send in the enforcement arm of the NWO (which used to be us), the blue-helmeted UN army/peacekeepers. One side will embrace them and love their servitude. The other side . . . not so much. They will send the young men of the entire world, dead, back to their native “districts” and incur the hatred of the entire world. So the “civil” war will continue, the UN versus the terrorists aka the insurgents against the occupiers, and the worldists will watch while the last bastion of freedom dies nightly at 6:00, narrated by the droning voice of some empty talking bobble-head. They will rally behind the UN and cheer the blood in the streets, and when it is “over”, and they have cordoned the wildlands from the wasteland that is the urban subjugation zone, the world will breathe a sigh of relief that “we” are all “united” under the one true god, peace on earth.

Then the firebombing of the wildlands will begin, to destroy any/all survivors. And around the same time, the same masters will execute the clamp-down on everyone else. So, while the last remnant burns, the brainwashed masses choke under the oppression of the boot on their throats.

You decide which is worse.

Neibo..
Exactly what I’ve been saying for years now, but what would a hillbilly like me know.
When the government is paralyzed the Bolsheviks will strike. It
s worked like a charm so why change it up. We’re dumber than past generations so it should work even better.
You are quite right about firebombing the resisters. They have designer germs etc. already to go. The armchair warriors have never seen Napalm up close and personal. Sarin gas is another. Defoliants on the surrounding cover. They haven’t done it to the 3rd world on a large scale yet because too many people are still watching.
I fully expect to have to fight hordes of hungry libtards but fighting Big Brother on his terms is not something I want to rush into.

Total bullshit article. We have been fed this crap for going on three years now. It’s all a facade. Its all make-believe. Politicians represent OUR OWNERS. Sure … they put on a good show … but … ‘by their deeds ye shall know them’. Anyone who thinks Trump represents them is delusional. Hitlery is no better. She is just different. The NWO agenda continues its roll out

Where are the boots on the ground at the border that should have been mobilized at the start of his presidency? Or are they preparing to attack the next country for Israel? How can mayors declare sanctuary cities to harbor fugitives from justice / breaking federal laws. Why haven’t they been arrested? Trump is almost as bad as the deranged democrats.
