52nd Anniversary of Israel’s Attack on the USS Liberty
Israel Is a Dictatorship, Not a Democracy
Two days ago the US celebrated the 75th anniversary of D-Day with accolades to the armed forces and thanks to surviving veterans. The country stood strongly with the military. But today two days later is the 52nd anniversary of a day of shame when Washington turned its back on the US Navy. It was June 8, 1967 when the USS Liberty, a surveillance ship stationed off the coast of Egypt was attacked by Israeli fighter aircraft and torpedo boats. The Israelis were unable to sink the Liberty, but managed to kill 34 American sailors and wound 174. Seventy percent of the crew were casualties of the Israeli attack.
The White House, fearing the Israel Lobby, prevented the US Navy from going to the defense of the Liberty, thus sacrificing American lives, and further dishonored the US Navy by ordering Admiral McCain, father of the former US Senator John McCain, to orchestrate a cover-up. The surviving crew were threatened with court-martial and imprisonment if they spoke about the event. It was 20 years before one of the surviving officers wrote a book about the greatest act of shame the US government ever inflicted on the US military.
In 2003, 36 years after the Israeli attack on the Liberty, Admiral Tom Moorer, former Chief of Naval Operations and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, convened the Independent Commission of Inquiry into the Israeli Attack on USS Liberty, the Recall of Military Rescue Support Aircraft while the Liberty was Under Attack, and the Subsequent Cover-up by the United States Government. The Commission consisted of Adm. Moorer, Gen. Raymond Davis, former Assistant Commandant of the US Marine Corps, Rear Adm. Merlin Staring, former Judge Advocate General of the US Navy, and Amb. James Akins, former US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

The report is devastating. Among the report’s conclusions, these stand out:
“That due to the influence of Israel’s powerful supporters in the United States, the White House deliberately covered up the facts of this attack from the American people;
“That due to continuing pressure by the pro-Israel lobby in the United States, this attack remains the only serious naval incident that has never been thoroughly investigated by Congress; to this day, no surviving crewmember has been permitted to officially and publicly testify about the attack;
“That there has been an official cover-up without precedent in American naval history; the existence of such a cover-up is now supported by statements of Rear Admiral Merlin Staring, USN (Ret.), former Judge Advocate General of the Navy; and Captain Ward Boston, USN, (Ret.), the chief counsel to the Navy’s 1967 Court of Inquiry of Liberty attack;
“That the truth about Israel’s attack and subsequent White House cover-up continues to be officially concealed from the American people to the present day and is a national disgrace;
“That a danger to our national security exists whenever our elected officials are willing to subordinate American interests to those of any foreign nation, and specifically are unwilling to challenge Israel’s interests when they conflict with American interests; this policy, evidenced by the failure to defend USS Liberty and the subsequent official cover-up of the Israeli attack, endangers the safety of Americans and the security of the United States.”
After interviewing many of the survivors, Captain Ward Boston, who was assigned to cover up the attack and afterward repudiated the cover-up, and Bill Knutson, the executive officer of the USS America fighter squadron that was called back on orders from the White House, and lengthy discussions with Adm. Moorer, my former colleague at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, I have written about the Israeli attack on the Liberty a number of times. Netanyahu Elevates Himself to Dictator
We hear every day that “Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East,” but is Israel a democracy or a dictatorship?
In a democracy even the highest members of the government are accountable to law, but this isn’t the case with Netanyahu. This is like Mueller indicting President Trump for colluding with Putin to steal the US presidential election. All would be over for Trump, but not for Netanyahu. As prime minister Netanyahu had already assigned himself the ministries of Defense, Health, and Education. Now he is Justice minister as well. How much of a government can be in the hands of one person before that person becomes a dictator? Think about it this way: If President Trump were also Secretary of Defense, Attorney General, Secretary of the Treasury, and Secretary of Homeland Security, would he be a president or a dictator?
Trump has none of these posts, but some Democrats accuse him of being a dictator. What then does that make Netanyahu?

Who controls the media?
June 8, 2017 was the fiftieth anniversary of the deliberate attack upon the USS Liberty (GTR-5). Normally, on the fiftieth anniversary of any notable event in history, there is at least a mention of it in the mainstream media. Not so for the USS Liberty (GTR-5).
This, in itself is telling.
The USS Liberty was in international waters, clearly marked and identified by the Israelis as an American ship.
Lyndon Johnson initially refused help for the stricken ship as he did not want to embarrass an ally (Israel). The plan, all along was for Israel to attack the ship, leaving no survivors, and then to blame it on Egypt, thereby pulling America into a middle east war on the side of the Israelis. A brave sailor was able to reconnect an antenna, under fire, to get the message out that they were being attacked. Initially Lyndon Johnson refused to send help, but was forced to when the fleet got the distress call. All one has to do is look at the Lavon affair, among others, in which Israel always gets others to do its dirty work for them.
The subsequent investigation was whitewashed by none other than Admiral John S McCain (yes, John McCain’s daddy) with the captain of the ship being awarded the Medal of Honor not at the White House (which is protocol), but at an obscure Naval base.
The USS Liberty (GTR-5) sailors were scattered throughout the Navy and warned not to discuss the “incident” (actually an act of war) under pain of courts-martial.
The way the crew of the USS Liberty (GTR-5) was treated still stinks to this day.
The USS Liberty (GTR-5) is the most decorated ship in Naval history.
If I had my way, Israel would have been turned into a glass parking lot on June 9, 1967.
So extend your thinking a little further. What were the ramifications of the attack on the Liberty. Anything? Or … nada! Zip! So then, who really is ruling over America? As always the truth (of this world) is never pretty.

Shortly after the attack on the Liberty I was standing the mid watch at VR 21, NAS Barbers Point in Hawaii when I overheard two officers discussing the incident. They knew that the ship had been deliberately attacked by Israel and were quite angry. Unaware of my presence they spoke quite openly about. At the time due to the lack of any media coverage (that I had access to)I was only vaguely aware of the attack and the conversation seemed quite odd. It was only years later when I read a book about the Liberty that the conversation made sense. I then realized that the attack was common knowledge but never openly discussed probably for fear of destroying careers.
Dennis ,there is so much I didn’t know about the wars and other historical events that have made me physically sick at times .I mean throwing up . The truth can be very painful. I first heard of the Liberty here on the Burning Platform a couple years ago. I now know the Jews got away with killing all those Americans. It makes my blood boil. Just like they have gotten away with killing all those Americans on 9/11. It seems like the Jews can get away with anything.
The Liberty’s assassination attempt was a perfect example of how the plans of the all-powerful fall apart under the will of one courageous man, who strung wire for a distress call. Israel clearly had approval from POTUS, the Secretary of Defense and the CIA. Israel was the architect of the Liberty’s funeral pyre, and our ‘Patriotic’ leaders stacked the logs.
I think we can assume that today, the Military’s Top Brass, in all branches, are aware they’re expendable, as do those they lead, if it serves Israel. They all know, with angry certainty, that there could be another Liberty brewing. There are many conversations at the ‘operational’ level that are never ‘overheard’. They are ‘treasonous’ considerations of mutiny if ever another Liberty incident occurs. If it does, there will be American reprisal against Israel by those who refuse to allow their mates to be murdered. In that circumstance today, The Joint Chiefs could not overrule the Chief Petty Officers who run the Navy.
Defense Sector Corporations hire retired Admirals and Generals. They are gilded by K Street ‘Think Tanks’ and become media mouthpieces with published biographies of world affairs. That is their brass ring. It’s what they served for, nothing else. Their postures conceal what they know to be true.
Not if, but when Israel sparks a war against Iran with another false flag attack on our military, it will have no allies. It will be exterminated.
