After they opened overseas U.S. Army bases to unlimited overnight whores (females in the barracks) back in 1991, I knew readiness was going to shit.
The U.S. military could not fight a protracted ground war to save it’s life now.

Took my girlfriend to see the movie in 1970. She asked me in mid film are you really going into the Army and I said yes……it was after 4 years of college or with a draft number of 18 which would have meant as soon as they found out that I was no longer 2 -S. Would not change a day or a decision…..Best people in the world but on occasion one that deserved an engraved hand grenade.
Met Alan Arkin in Santa Fe in a restaurant and thanked him for his body of work. Especially Schindler’s List. Wonderful person……
Undoubtedly the best book I have read bar none. Heller really put on display all the idiocy of the military and did so in utter hilarity as only people that have been in could understand. The film was decent as it could be from the commies in that shit hole HW.
