I noticed that “funny” was not listed among the meta-tags.

One of the few comedians calling it like he sees it.
Basically, comedians stopped doing stand up around college campuses, because of rampant political correctness, fake racism claims, fringe group victim mentality types finding almost everything offensive to someone.
Then, after the shaming, if no public apology is issued after the demand for it, then the search and destroy crowd works to blackball the offender.

A good antidote are those jokes with listed stereotype humor, titled ‘Let’s Offend Everybody”

I miss the Wayans production of “In Living Color”, circa mid 80’s.

Nothing and nobody was off limits, and it made for many funny skits, delivered by talented actor comedians.
Young Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans, David Alan Greer, etc.
-Homey the clown;
-Men on film;
-Fire Marshal Bill; and more.

Was some hilarious entertainment, but that was then, and this is now.

In shaming and doxxing, we are being denied the freedom to speak freely, laugh at ourselves and others.
Too much drama, and
Not enough humor.
-Lighten up, bitches.
You’re taking life too seriously, and are a drag to be around.

Agree except Jim Carrey. Can’t stand him. He was the worst part of that show.

Iska, I get that sentiment.
Many comedians can be annoying assholes, and Carrey is one at times. Then he morphed into a weirdo Progtard.
He used to have talents though.

I despise most female comedians.

And we all know SNL has been useless garbage, ever since the original and 2nd wave cast members moved on, many years ago.
Al Franken. Enough said.

Edit / Add:
Really glad we don’t hear much from Adam Sandler anymore.
Can’t stand his stuff.
But, he doesn’t need to make anymore shitty movies.
Read somewhere that all his contracts stipulated 10% of the gate receipts, plus maybe residual royalties.
Pretty sure he switched to glide, instead of working his ass off, putting out garbage that idiots gobbled up.

Hmmm.
Switching To Glide / This Beat Goes On…The Kings
…one hit wonders, that haven’t aged very well. Sheesh.
Not very handsome rockers.

Something went seriously wrong with him. I thought he was the funniest on the show, but today I wouldn’t accept money to be in his audience.

Jim Carrey had off the charts talent that riveted your eyes and ears to him, I loved him in many movies, stand up, and hilarious rubber faced exact voice tone impressions, but he devolved into a blather mouth woke anus.

He has a compelling back story, but to me he is on track for a lost disaster future.

Who knows, maybe one day he will wake up from being woke?

A good commentary that I just listened to…

Sargon as he usually does absolutely nails it.
The woke left as shown in Vice.com article below ain’t happy…

Ol’ Dave is one Nigga who isn’t playing by the book.
He is doing his best to hurt the feelz of those who are woke..

Enjoy folks!

What’s really funny is that he just ran a dagger through the heart of every one of the mouthbreathers in the audience, and they lapped it up like trained seals.

We live in a matriarchy, and women aren’t known for their senses of humor. They’re known for their sentimentality, and we live in a sentimental age. We don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, do we? Better we should pretend that things are how we wish them to be.

Anon,

So true!! Another one of the Big Lies….at the top of the pyramid it might be a patriarchy but for the majority of the 99% it is a matriarchy.

Having worked in public education for well over 15 years you’d be blind not to see it.

As I have said, it is the intentional PUSSIFICATION of a whole generation of males.

And we wonder why a bunch of young white males are typical mass shooters.

Now that George Carlin is no longer with us, Dave Chappelle is the best comic out there. Like Lager noted above, he calls it like he sees it and isn’t afraid of the consequences.

I think what makes him such a great observer of bullshit in today’s Merica is that he does not live on the coasts. Instead, he resides in a small town in central Ohio and has neighbors who are dirt people, i.e., deplorables.

Isn’t it amazing that when you don’t live in Progressiveland, you can actually see reality.

Despite doing absolutely fabulous skits about what would REALLY happen if reparations were paid (look up the video…its outstanding), he openly supported them. Yeah, despite being offered $50,000,000 a year for doing a show…based on his TALENT, not his skin color….he still thought they needed to be paid (by whom and to whom I don’t know). Sad that folks never bother to actually sit down and think about anything before taking a position. MrLiberty here. Not sure how the Anonymous name got attached to my post.

It was strictly observational, not a pitch for whitey to support Chappelle.
Topic was noticing someone with the public entertainment balls to push back against PC, a career ender for most celebrities.
So most tuck tail to not rock the boat.
Homos, Juice, & Women mocking is verboten by those who control the celebrities.

And so, we ignore them and their products.

No endorsement here.

So nigger is back in play?

I must have missed the memo.

Chappelle has tremendous stage presence, supreme confidence, and a solid work ethic but he couldn’t write a joke if his life depended on it. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed at something he’s said, but he is eminently watchable, if that makes sense.

I think we’re to the point where the darkies are going to be angry regardless of what we say. They say “reparations”, we say “nigger”. The media says “youths” or “teens”, we say niggers. They say “white supremacy”, we say “TNB”. They say “disparate impact”, we say “1350”.

I didn’t say he wasn’t funny, I said he doesn’t write jokes. Some guys have a gift for performance and some for the construction of material. He’s charismatic and supremely confident, but again, there’s nothing in his act either 20 years ago when it was much closer to stand-up, or today as a form social critique that could be considered comedy. Same thing with guys like Carlin and Hicks. I was pretty shocked to hear him use nigger in the current PC climate but even more taken aback by the reaction of his (mostly) White audience, it was surreal.

But the bit posted above is at it’s root something done so often by so many other comics it’s considered ‘hack’ material- “Tonight I’m gonna do an impression…” and then he proceeds to mock people, which is not an impression. Not that there’s anything inherently wrong with mocking people, but guys like Rich Vos elevate it to an art form, but it’s not particularly well constructed nor funny. It does show how much celebrity buys an entertainer because he denigrates his entire audience and they stay with him, not because it was a good joke, but because he’s got a great Q score.

Could you evaluate Katt Williams? I hardly follow comedians or even social critics like Carlin but Katt goes a bit too far here:

How about derivative? Back in the day there was no worse crime a comic could be accused of then to be called a joke thief. The ones who really got away with it- their careers eclipsed their peers efforts to curtail their borrowing freely from other, original comic writers- Robin Williams, Amy Schumer, Dane Cook, Carlos Mencia-used the power of their celebrity to evade responsibility for their actions. The one thing they all had in common was that while they were charismatic or comfortable on stage, they weren’t writers. Now if they had chosen acting they might have done much better because actors aren’t expected to write their own material, but with a comic, it is assumed. Robin Williams made that transition and thrived as an actor because that was his calling, not stand-up.

The big defense now is either cryptoamnesia (they heard it but forgot they heard it and wrote their own joke based on what they’d heard yet forgotten), or “parallel development”, i.e. everyone talks about arguing so sooner or later there are going to be repetitive jokes about arguing, no harm, no foul.

And while both of these things may be in fact very real, it’s the accumulation of infractions that undermine those excuses. The clip above is a great example of someone lifting material from a source that is assumed no one will notice, and in the case of comedy pariah Owen Benjamin it’s a fairly safe bet. In order to earn that Netflix paycheck a guy who isn’t a writer has to come up with almost two new hours of material, something that a good writer and road comic would take a year or more to develop.

He said he refused to wear a dress. It may be that got his supplied material pulled, forcing him to drop out of his show. Katt Williams is another bloke who refused (according to him) to wear a dress. His celebrity dried up soon after.

Started seeing odd things days ago with monikers. In the list of recent comments, clicking on a comment from “Speedy” led me to a comment by MG, with no mention of Speedy anywhere.

Thought that odd, but just wondered.

Now this weird stuff is happening more often, and to other regulars.
Strange.

The act of being funny or receiving a gimmie laugh track from the audience does not necessarily make one a comedian.
