At Stake

Guest Post by Jim Kunstler

A miasma of consternation lay heavy across the Potomac swamp late last week when former FBI Acting Director Andrew McCabe was let off the hook for lying to his own bureau while, elsewhere across DC, the distinguished Lt. General Flynn was still fighting for his life against exactly the same charge after three years of dilatory maneuvers by the DOJ to conceal their prosecutorial malfeasance in the case… and then the sketchy Roger Stone matter entered a twilight zone of jiggery-pokery that appeared to climax in a staged ruse by his four prosecutors to lure the Attorney General, Mr. Barr, into a trap.

You are forgiven for failing to follow all the twists and turns in this latest installment of what might now be called CoupGate, a summation of the seditious campaign to overthrow the president, which already has gone through so many gates — SpyGate, RussiaGate, MuellerGate, UkraineGate, WhistleblowerGate — that Mr. Trump looks like he’s spent three years training for the giant slalom in the next winter Olympics. A localized Civil War is underway in the Department of Justice now. Mr. Barr is in the middle, getting it from both sides.

The AG has apparently partitioned the DOJ into two separate realms: the now-identified corps of coupsters working desperately to keep their asses covered in an unraveling conspiracy, and Mr. Barr’s group attempting to account fairly for all that has happened, while salvaging what’s left of the outfit’s institutional legitimacy. Too much documented evidence of crime is out there in the public domain to dismiss these activities as a “conspiracy theory.” The trouble is, so many were involved from so many branches and agencies, that fully prosecuting every angle of it could bring down the permanent bureaucracy like the Jenga tower it has become.

The decision to let Mr. McCabe skate on the lying rap infuriated those demanding accountability for government lawyers-gone-wild, since even the DOJ Inspector General, Mr. Horowitz, cited serial instances of his “lacking candor” in more than one report, and “Andy” seems to have been a pivot-man for the FBI in the early-and-middle phases of the coup — along with his DOJ counterpart, former Deputy Attorney General Rod (“I’ll wear a wire”) Rosenstein.

I have a theory about the McCabe case: The Attorney General has taken the rinky-dink “lying to the FBI” charge off the table. It has become a liability, virtually the emblem for government misconduct, and Mr. Barr is getting rid of it in these matters. It has already caused too much mischief, insulted Americans’ sense of justice, and damaged the DOJ’s standing. Note, Andrew McCabe has been let off only on this charge, stemming from only one particular IG referral; he may well yet be liable for more serious charges-to-come. From here on, there will be no more rinky-dink lying charges against any of those implicated in the coup, only the most serious charges, and only those that add up to a solid case.

The coup has been so broad, deep, and thick that I predict cases will have to be brought under the RICO statutes in batches for different groups in separate agencies and branches of government. For instance, there is the Intel Mob, including former CIA Director John Brennan, former Director of National Intel (DNI) James Clapper, current Intel IG Michael Atkinson, so-called whistleblower (he that cannot be named, E*** C**********) and International Man of Mystery Joseph Mifsud. There is gang from the State Department who helped engineer UkraineGate, including former Ambassador Marie Yovanovich, former Sec’y of State John Kerry, and others. There is that big herd of rogue lawyers in the DOJ and its stepchild, the FBI, the names widely disseminate by now, Comey, Strzok, Baker, Boente, Carlin, Clinesmith, et. al. There’s Robert Mueller and his henchpersons, Andrew Weissmann, Jeannie Rhee, et. al. There’s another a band of seditionists in Congress that includes Mark Warner of the Senate Intel Committee, the now notorious idiot Adam Schiff over in the House, and staffers who worked for both. There’s a bunch in the Pentagon’s Office of Net Assessment that paid over a million dollars to Alternate International Man of Mystery (actually, CIA asset) Stefan Halper to run entrapment schemes against people working for Mr. Trump. There’s a swarm from Barack Obama’s White House, including Valarie Jarrett, Susan Rice, Samantha Powers, Alexandra Chalupa, former Vice-President Joe Biden and the former President himself. And finally, there is the 800-pound-gorilla over in the Democratic Party thicket, namely Hillary Clinton, and those connected to her and her charity fraud, the Clinton Foundation, which is the real and actual predicate for the whole sordid affair — a list that includes Viktor Vekselberg of Russia’s Skolkovo Project, $25-million donor Russian oligarch Victor Pinchuk, Russian aluminum magnate Oleg Deripaska, and Dmitri Alperovich of CrowdStrike, (Russian collusion, anyone?) as well as rascally freelancers such as Christopher Steele, Glenn Simpson of Fusion GPS, lawyer / Lobbyist Adam Waldman, and Hillary errand boys Sidney Blumenthal and Cody Shearer. The stories behind those names are all over the web, in case you want edify yourself.

Now, perhaps, you can see the scope of this big hot mess, and deduce the degree of difficulty that William Barr faces in attempting to set it all straight. He has to carefully select those who will be charged and probably not bother with some of the bit players. The charges are going to have to be serious, and the cases must be strong. It is a gigantic job of work, and rather delicate business considering the explosive potential to a government whose credibility is already pretty shredded. Failure to attend to it may turn a mere bureaucratic civil war into a genuine citizen rebellion featuring some of the 300-million-odd firearms at large in the republic. I believe Mr. Barr is aware of what’s at stake and will behave honorably.

IF, and that is a big if, there are ever any charges filed and indictments handed up, the trial MUST be moved to the heartland where the government will have a decent chance of conviction. The District of Corruption is a cesspool and it would be difficult to find a jury that would convict one of their own. Jury nullification works almost the same as a verdict of not guilty.

That is an excellent point! There is NO justice in DC, period!

I live near Memphrica and remember the foreman of the Stone jury from her days as a politician. She is as corrupt as they come and I can see her leading the jury to the conviction. She fits well in that city of sewage.

Maybe one day your predictions will come true but the smart, odds-on bet is more of the same: The bigs skate and a few flunkies are tossed into the volcano. Anyone who thinks Barr or any other swamp rat will ‘behave honorably’ still thinks Epstein hung himself-as Barr has claimed-above the laughter.

The Man From Queens will be hounded by the creatures from the fetid and festering lagoon for the remainder of this term, and should he win re-election, be dogged by the same cancerous careerist cadres, bureaucratz, civil servantz, lobbyists and Trotskyites till he is finally put out to lazying about MAr A Lago and golfing.

No one is going to prison. Too dangerous. Just ask Jeffery Epstein.

We might actually see heads rolling if Hillary was the occupant of the Oval Office. ( When a female finally becomes prez will it be labeled “The Ova Office”?) And should Bernie become the first Communist politician to take The White House, there could be a special re-education camp just for TBPers and followers of The Clusterfuck Nation among a number of enemy-of-the-state websites.

Otherwise it will be be business as usual in The District of Columbia with the caveat that a Wuhan Flu pandemic, stock market crash, or WWIII could change all the rules in a short space. Barring any of that, graft, grift and gargantuan goobs of goods and loot will continue to be disappeared into the gaping maw of a machine that has a life of its own. And Jerry Nadler is not only going to stick around like a tick, but shall also willfully wear his belt above the nipple line…ugh.

I think the more likely outcome is summarized in the link below. No one important will ever be charged because that would de-legitimize the entire justice system in the USA.

There is no chance, no way, no how that Mr. Barr (or anyone else) is going to bring any charges like Mr. Kunstler refers to. The entire DoJ is rotten, and everyone knows it, even the valet car parkers. Who could possibly try the case? What judge, what prosecutor would not be required to recuse themselves? None. They are all in it, without any exception. There can be no reform of the Doj, or of the rest of the Deep State in every Department and Bureau that is running things.

Nope, Mr. K. there is no interest in truth or reform. Not from the Dems, and not from the Repubs. Not from the House or the Senate, or the Supreme Court, or any other damned place. Too many people are making too much money doing things the way they are. There will be no change until after the system stops working and is destroyed like a transmission after the driveshaft universal seizes up.

Barr may be a decent husband and father. Maybe he treats dogs well too. But he is still nothing more than an establishmentarian defender, a Deep Stater to the very end. He may deserve common courtesy, but not respect. None of them do.

Why can’t we just get John Roberts to handle things for the sake of the country?

On the other hand, I guess it is time to finish off that other bottle of vodka.

I can see a daily duty formation at the United States Disciplinary Barracks, Ft Levanworth, Kansas in which the above named and the 1100 whiners who signed the anit-Barr paper get their marching orders. Some will go to commissary to bag groceries, some will cut grass across the wide swath of the old cavalry post and the rest will paint rocks and pick up cigarette butts across post……..Hitlary will shovel hay/alfalfa/oat by product ala GEN Patton.

Give. It. Up.
There will be no accountability, except some small sop. I’m aware that in many ways I’m preaching to the choir, but still…
Every aware person better get real serious about keeping your mouth shut, your powder dry and your eyes wide open.
The shit is here; it’s not coming, it is here. I’ve been beating the drum that this was coming for over 40 years, and I see it all around me, NOW. At best, we only have a very few short years. I give 5, best case scenario. Personally, I can see this year, or maybe next. Next month wouldn’t surprise me.
Now is the time to determine how you are going to live for the rest of your physical life. Your choices are getting extremely limited at this point, make the best of it. You better get your local act together, because that’s what’s going to be real important in the very near future. No one knows the details of what is coming like a freight train, but we can sure as hell hear the whistle and feel the vibrations on the tracks. It doesn’t matter which of the rats chews through the veneer first; the rest will come flooding through as soon as the hole is big enough. Pandemic disease, economic collapse, armed conflict, natural mega-disaster (this world is overdue for some serious stuff in so many ways) – or some combination thereof – it will all feed upon itself and explode , like a World War Z lunch mob. Everything is just too inter-twined nowadays for anything to be unrelated consequentially.
And, for me and my most serious advice; you better start considering your eternal dwelling place.
Now would be the time to use your brain for more than just a place to store files on how to tie your shoes.

If I were advising Trump my suggestion would be to have a 10 minute press conference kicked off with another 7 minute prayer from the Good Reverend. Sure would be fun to watch all the “journalists” in the WH press pool (cess pool??) squirm.

I get the feeling that Trump does this to draw these deep state butt heads out into the sun light. From what I have seen, he lets them discredit themselves then fires them. Seems simple enough to me. I just hope he takes the gloves off in his second term should he get. I figure the dems will be out cheat their ass’s off in this election.

“ … and deduce the degree of difficulty that William Barr faces in attempting to set it all straight.”

I like Kunstler, but he is almost as clueless as Kurt Schlichter. William Barr isn’t attempting to set anything straight. He is a Deep State swamp creature.

The whole “attempted coup”, and the entire Russiagate Mueller investigation (which resulted in the convictions of Stone and others), and the Ukrainegate/impeachment clown show is some combination of inter-Deep State squabbling and theater, but I haven’t figured out how much of each is involved, or exactly what the objective is. At least part of the objective is to keep Trump’s supporters rallied around him and excusing him for his failure to keep any of his campaign promises. I think part of it is also to keep the Left constantly grasping at fantasies that will pull Trump down (Mueller investigation, impeachment, etc.), so that they become increasingly angry with each failure to get Trump.

But Barr is not going to do anything except continue the psyop to keep the Left and Right constantly fighting with each other. What is going to be really interesting is to see who ends up running against Trump in November, and who they select for the winner. My gut feel is that they are going to have the Democrat win (whoever that turns out to be), because that will maximize the amount of fighting between the Left and Right, especially if the Democrat is Hillary. The Right has been able to gloat since Trump got elected, even though they actually have nothing to gloat about, and the Left has been constantly angry and upset, even though Trump has mostly governed just like Hillary would have (except that Hillary probably wouldn’t have genuflected to Israel as much). By switching the roles it will continue the fighting better than keeping things the way they are now for another four years. Watch the economy to see who they have selected for the winner in November. If the economy gets much worse between now and then, the Democrat will be the winner.

“Mr. Barr’s group attempting to account fairly for all that has happened, while salvaging what’s left of the outfit’s institutional legitimacy. ”

What is Kuntzler smoking on this one? account fairly-he did everything possible to block a full investigation. salvage institutional legitimacy? That has long been lost and barr did nothing to salvage anything.
