On Leaving the Golden State

Ventura Highway in the sunshine
Where the days are longer
The nights are stronger
Than moonshine
You’re gonna go I know

-America

The fabled Ventura Highway is all that separates my artist loft from the beach where surfing first came to the United States.  Both my balcony and front patio face the freeway at about eye level and I could easily smack a tennis ball right on to the ever busy 101.  Access to the beach and boardwalk is very important to a Tourist Town such as mine and I can see one underpass from my balcony and another underpass from the patio.  Further up the street are two pedestrian bridges.  Both have been recently remodeled so that people can not use it to kill themselves by leaping down into traffic.  The traffic, just like the spice, must flow and the elites that live here do not like to be inconvenienced as they dart about between Malibu and Santa Barbara.

Another feature of living where I live would have to be the homeless, the insane and the drug addicts that wander this particular neighborhood.  The authorities estimate that there are more than 1100 homeless in and around my part of town but unless you too live in such a neighborhood, it can be hard to imagine so I’ll do my best to explain.  Please humor me while I tell you what that looks like from ground zero.

As I wait for my morning coffee to brew, I can see the more industrious homeless pushing or pulling their junk carts from under the overpass where they spent the night.  During the day, these guys will scoop up anything of value that is not nailed down.  Others that I can see have their signs and will go panhandle where the tourists must exit the freeway.

Once my coffee is brewed, my cat and I go hang out on the patio where I may or may not have to chase someone away that is stealing electricity as for some crazy reason all the homeless have smart phones and other electric gadgets but few means to charge them.  From my patio on the 2nd floor landing, I can look down into the central courtyard and, if early enough in the day, sometimes see people crawling out of the bushes so as to relieve themselves against a wall.

Making this problem worse is the fact that I live around a bunch of retired hippies and there is no one on Earth less capable of doing anything than a hippie.  One thing that many of them have not figured out is that they should lock down their WiFi.  Frankly, the quickest way to attract the kind of person that would steal a cat toy, potted plant, bicycle or everything out of your car is to have a neighbor or two broadcasting free WiFi.  It is like offering Zombies brain pudding.  It makes everything worse.

As for me, I work from home and try to spend as much time as possible during the day outside.  After all, it is the reason I live here as it rarely rains, we have no insects to speak of and it is pretty much 72 degrees each and every day of the year.  Living here and not going to the beach every day would simply be a crime but going to the beach puts me face to face with some people that should, by all accounts, be in an asylum.

The asylum crowd is easy to spot as they tend to wear everything they own even when it is warm outside.  Another sign is how filthy they are.  Now, you might be saying that of course they are filthy because they are homeless but that shouldn’t be the case as there are quite a few charities that gives clothes to the homeless or allows them to use a laundromat for free.  I have a neighbor that plays guitar to entertain the homeless the first Tuesday of every month at a laundromat that serves the homeless and does so for free.  Also, there are free public showers all up and down the beach.

Perhaps this anecdote will help put things in perspective: My daughter is out walking by herself but it is only 8 in the evening so she isn’t all that worried about late night criminal elements.  She told me that she heard a noise and looked to see a bearded filthy barefoot half starved shirtless man running towards her from out of an alley.  My daughter runs marathons and was able to easily outrun this man but she told me that the worse part was that the guy had both of his arms cut off at the elbows.

Luckily for her she had spent 5 years living in a tiny former hotel room right on Sunset and Vine in the center of Hollywood which is the capital of crazy in the United States.  Living and working in the center of Hollywood with no car put her right out with the crazies and made her streetwise and an expert on crazy.  Frankly, any normal person not used to such things might have froze like a deer in the headlights seeing an armless lunatic howling their way towards them but my girl is a pro.  Anyway, the question that both my daughter and I had was why the authorities did not sweep this guy up off of the street.  Clearly he was armless, hungry and out of his mind.

Let us talk about the authorities for a moment.  What exactly are they doing to help?  First, they threw open the borders and created sanctuary cities so that people that do not belong here can not be molested by law enforcement.  Next, they decriminalized camping in public.  People camping in public need something to do to while away the hours so they decriminalized drugs even going so far as to give away free needles.  If that were not enough, they decriminalized theft up to $950 per day.  This way any homeless person can walk into any business and brazenly steal whatever they wish without any fear of being sent to jail.

Finally, they’ve arranged things such that the police will no longer respond to 911 calls pertaining to vandalism or burglary.  You can watch from your bedroom window as a homeless person smashes your car windshield with a rock so as to ransack your car and if you call 911 it will be YOU that is in trouble for tying up their emergency line as someone vandalizing and robbing your car is a non-emergency and not worthy of any kind of response.  Isn’t that wonderful?

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back to the place I was before
‘Relax’ said the night man,
‘We are programmed to receive.
You can check out any time you like,
But you can never leave!’

The Eagles

Having lived in such insanity for 11 years has me wondering if I can ever really leave California behind.  Has it changed me?  After all, the people around me that I’ve spent time with honestly believe in UBI, that men can have babies, trans athletes, open borders, free everything, Communism, drag queen library time and that the Earth will be destroyed in 12 years because AOC says so.  I’ve watched grown adults dress themselves and their children up as vaginas and parade around in our streets.  The worst was being told that I was a “racist” for believing that anyone of any race can achieve their goals if they work hard.  After all, “only a privileged white racist” could express something so outrageous.

I’m afraid that the one thing I will be carrying with me out of California is a numbness to human suffering.  I am very worried that I will not be able to leave that numbness behind but only time will tell.  I do understand that the numbness is a defense mechanism that helps me deal with the reality of Southern California.  After all, you have to be numb to watch a 70+ year old woman that looks like your grandma defecating by the recycling bin.  You have to be numb in order to casually step over someone passed out on the sidewalk.  You have to be numb to walk past the once attractive woman that is now toothless and having a loud argument with a tree.  You have to be numb to pop on Netflix while knowing that just a few hundred yards away is a homeless encampment in the dry river bottom that has hundreds of men and women sleeping in the tangles near the salt marsh.  I have become comfortably numb.  I didn’t before but I now 100% understand what that means.

In a few short days I will take the Ventura Highway out of town and out of California.  On a positive note, my $3200 a month artist loft (parking and utilities not included) is now available to rent.  What a deal, huh?

Congratulations on your move, however one thing, please: do not bring any psychotic Progtard completely fucked-up Crazyfornia thinking with you wherever it is you are going to relocate to. Your new neighbors will very much appreciate it. Bon chance.

Do you have a specific address where I can send California more homeless and insane people? They deserve every bit of what they get. Born and raised there, lived there 30 years, watched it all go to shit and turn into a Disneyland for faggots right before my eyes. Will never go back, fuck that place and fuck the coastal Californians.

PS – don’t move to Texas. We don’t need any of that Novel California virus.

If Californians didn’t shit up everyplace they go, it might be different. I got Califuckups all around where I live and they usually suck. There’s the wannabe Instagram influencer around the corner who offers up exciting tips on how to live your life to her follower(s?), despite the fact in real life she claims she suffers from “invisible diseases” that prevent her from getting out of bed for more than 6 hours a day. There’s the nasty liberal grandma who always wants to argue with all the neighbors about how great California is and jam her liberal beliefs down their throats, despite the fact she’s moved here, where we deplorables are the majority. There’s the douchebags who go to the grocery store in pajamas. I know they’re not all from that shithole, but I also know the trend started there first, so thanks for that. Nothing like watching my fat redneck neighbors trying to be like cool jet set left coasters in the wallyworld. There’s the douchers with Cali plates who can’t drive. The douchers who brag about how they get terrific grades now they’ve moved here. They made the community pool a wonderful place to be with their intelligent conversation, cussing in front of Young One, and nasty attitude. Their tattoos and piercings were really cool, too. The douchers who buy up all the land and build hideous monuments to bad taste they call homes. The douchers who drive Teslas in an area where you pretty much need an F-150 to get around. They’ve done so much for us.

So you’ll have to understand if nobody wants more Californians.

Hey… Einstein… California was destroyed by people who came into the state from other states; mainly from the East Coast. The Northeast states aren’t being ruined by Californians. Virginia isn’t being ruined by Californians. Somalis aren’t being imported to Minnesota by Californians. Californians aren’t raising the house prices in Idaho; the SELLERS of those houses are gouging the Californians who move in.

You, too, know little, yet speak much…

Another Texas tard trying to be cute. In a national game of bounce the lemons, other states ship their homeless to Cali. I often wonder how so many white dudes ended up homeless. They came from other states, attracted by the weather, the 60’s vibe and the hippie mentality. Movie drifters sound romantic, in real life drifters don’t do so well.

Texas tard? Whoa sunshine, you went too far there. Texas is overrun with the idiots from California who bring their attitudes and bad manners with them. They are a plague, like locusts only worse. They bring their fiat with them and the greedy politicians suck them up and pander to them for the tax rolls and kickback and their virtue signaling is beyond the pale.

As to shipping the homeless dregs to California? Shit son, your state invites them in, makes them welcome, panders to them and gives them free needles so they can shoot up and drop them onto the shit strewn streets while allowing them to steal and commit crimes with impunity. Those Californians running away from the shitholes they allowed to happen need to go home and fix their own shit rather than turning Texas into yet another shithole.

A lot of Texans think their state is a hotbed of conservatism. White children are now a minority in the schools. In a very few years, the Mexican and black kids will be voting. The big cities in Texas have been liberal for a long time now. When the minority children become 18, they will control every elected office in the state, from dogcatcher to Senator to Governor. None of this has anything to do with Californians moving into the state.

I fully support free market of drugs (and everything else). The biggest problem is allowing drug use while having a drug war – this makes high prices which increases crime to pay for the high cost of addiction. Free market will push drugs to pennies for addiction cost which will enabled accelerated, low cost path to the drug addict’s suicide. In fact, the best scenario of all would be to have non-profit charities that setup tractor trailers filled with FREE drugs placed at strategic locations. This scenario would draw the addicts to that location and enable them to have plenty of access to the drugs for the fastest, least societal impact of drug addict suicide by drugs.

Here is the best story I can give about the mental state of California. The story is absolutely true.

I used to be in a California special education program called MGM – Mentally Gifted Minors. In 1976, our librarian who ran MGM (and had a PhD in education) scored a coup and landed a 30 minute session for our group with then Governor Jerry Brown. This would have been around 1976. Our parents would have to pay for our trip up to Sacramento and as most of us were middle middle class it was another one of those unexpected expenses that our parents couldn’t say no to. We all spent days planning questions we would ask Governor Brown and spent the prior month studying how the California legislature worked so we could impress him with how informed we were. Great excitement for us young kids – meet the Governor. Wow!

We flew up there on one of the “Flying Bananas” (remember Hughes Air West?) and almost didn’t make it to Sacramento due to mechanical problems. But eventually, after much drama, there we were. Spent the night at some low cost motel, and all piled into the van the next morning to meet Governor Brown.

So, we get to the Governor’s office and there is this big kerfuffle going on in this grassy knoll area. It took us a while to get through what was a “Save the Whales” protest (no shit, they really did protest Whale hunting) and to the Governor’s office. We all sat in the main lobby while our librarian was called into the offices – we could hear her shouting and this went on for about 5 minutes until she emerged red faced and furious. I remember the office saying something about going to see Governor Brown at the “rally”, and that’s when our librarian broke the news to us that Governor Brown had just blown of 15 of the smartest kids in Southern California to go and address the Save the Whales protest. All that money our parents spent, all our preparation to impress him just chucked aside for a quick 15 minute TV news stunt. That fucker couldn’t even give us 10 minutes.

So, ever since I have had the keen appreciation that California would rather talk about saving whales than talk to really smart kids. Fuck that place.

Lived in California (now Crazyfornia) for a few years after college at the end of The Golden Age in nothing less than Santa Barbara and Montecito.

I know just how great the place was 40 years ago. Joe’s on State, Isla Vista & Borsodi’s Coffee House, Hope Ranch for a nice view, and the ENterprise Fish Company, Arroyo Burro Beach etc. in S.B. The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, Musso and Franks’ , Chasen’s, Santa Monica etc. in L.A. Little Joe’s on Broadway, Canton for dim sum breakfast and people brought their birds, Japantown, and an It’s It in GOlden Gate Park – S.F. Red Rocks. Ojai with Krishnamurti, Esalen , sailing off the Channel Islands, Lake Cachuma, Pt COnception for crabbing and Ling Cod……and road trips to T.J and Ensenada to Hussong’s Cantina…

Brings back many, many great memories. Not very many homeless. Very little crime. Had to visit inner L.A. or Bakersfield for that.

Now look at it: working on true third world shithole status from being the envy of the world.

I’m living next to some very nice people who just escaped from L.A. and they tell me about the homeless, crime, crazies, feces, rats and taxes.

Happy there are survivors from the open air lunatic that has been constructed. Again I recommend have some Thorazine if one feels like bringing today’s Crazyfornia operating principles to their relocation landing site.

And, EC, if you are feeling a wee cranky you should have some Thorazine too. Rectally is indicated in your case.

California
Paul McCartney
You’d think that people would want to be nice to California
I look around me and I see it isn’t so
Some people want to rid the world of California
And what’s up with that
I’d like to know
Cali’s where it all began
I love you, I love you
I love you, I love you
I can’t explain the feeling’s plain to me, can’t you see
Ah, she gave me more, she gave it all to me now can’t you see
What’s up with that
I need to know
Cali’s where it all began
I love you, I love you
Tard doesn’t want to be in it
Morons don’t want to come at all
I only know that when I’m in it
She isn’t dirty, Cal isn’t dirty, Cal isn’t dirty at all
How can I tell you about my Cali
How can I tell you about my Cali
How can I tell you about my Cali
How can I tell you about my Cali
I love you, I love you
I love you
(I can’t explain the feeling’s plain to me, say can’t you see)
I love you
(Ah, she gave me all, she gave it all to me to me, say can’t you see)
I love you
(I can’t explain the feeling’s plain to me, say can’t you see)
I love you
(Ah, she gave me all, she gave it all to me to me, say can’t you see)

I love you

Austin is working on creating the same world. It’s about 10 years behind. The recent state intervention to clean out the homeless camps around the interstates did nothing but piss off the progressives, who you can bet are going to pass new laws that favor the homeless.

That area under the highway is way too clean to be in California, but give Austin time, it will devolve to true Cali depths. I walk very early in the morning in a suburban SoCal neighborhood. There are alot of invisible homeless. They come barging out of bushes. Yesterday, a crazy or drugged young man called my dog and walked across a busy street to try and pet him. Later on, I was walking by a big clump of eucalyptus trees and some guy coughed from in there. It was still dark and very unsettling. We are leaving Cali. I can get a $700,000 Cali house for $300k to $350k (or much less) in So. Carolina or many other places. I can invest the other $400,000. Also, instead of paying property taxes of 1.2% on $700k, I can pay .5% on $300k. That is another $500/Mo savings & SC exempts a certain amount of retirement income from State taxes. I can afford to financially stay here, but emotionally it is taking a toll and I see no positive change on the horizon. Of course, if I decide to come back and attend a CSU, I would first have to establish residency in TJ to get in-state tuition. Nutz. Three of my closest high net worth buddies have already escaped to other states. I had been thinking of Reno, but a buddy there told me it is changing due to an inmigration of Californios. By the way, the Spanish coats from Barcelona to Malaga very much reminds me of California in the 1960s.

You seem to be missing the point of all the outrage, QBall. NetFlix basically said the same things you did and got his balls skewered and slapped on a hibachi. The Philistines in the hinterlands do not like for Californians to sell their over-priced hovels in LA or SF and buy a mansion in Petticoat Junction. It raises their house prices out of reach for everybody but other California ex-pats.

It happens in Oregon, it happens in Texas, it happens in Arizona and it happens in Nevada. But if you listen very closely, nobody says a damn thing about the Yankees moving out of NY, Chicago and Detroit and heading for Texas and Arizona. Oh, no, that would violate their special privilege. That is why I flamed Joe the Yankee for moving to Texas and trying to keep Californians out.

I recently went to LA, beach side, Santa Monica. The homeless have taken over a small park on the oceanfront. Literally, a multimillion dollar view/place owned by the homeless. The people paying millions to live close by can’t use it – too many crazies and too many filthy misfits. In town I saw a 45 year-old (?) one time attractive woman pissing in the swale next to the road without a care in the world.
I couldn’t wrap my brain around millionaires shoulder to shoulder with the homeless, unaware of each other. It just crazy land. Good luck. Keep it, it’s all yours. Glad to be visiting, happier to have left in asylum.

I’ve always thought it would be nice to have somewhere to go back to, but I was born and raised in California, a child of the gear central valley. Victor Davis Hanson writes well about it. We are the same age and we lived about 45 miles apart growing up. It was wonderful. I now live in Oakland where my mother was born and raised, and it has been on the same downward trajectory as the rest of the state. It has always been somewhat dangerous here, but funnily I’ve never worried until the past 5 years or so. I think it would be nice to move, but my grandparents are buried a mile from where I sit as I type this, and someone has to put the flowers on their graves come October, and say an Ave for them. So, I imagine i will stay, and make the best of it.

I wish you the best of luck in your new life.

The Midwest is also going to turn into a shithole when progressives overrun the place. The problem with liberals /progressives is that they tolerate and promote the intolerable. What kept diseases of filth in check were hygiene laws and hygienic practices. Today those laws are racist, never mind the spread of disease and filth and destroyed businesses, we gots to take care of losers at the expense of hardworking citizens.

Sorry, can’t get too sympathetic with whining liberals who ignore reality to support a fantasy world, who trash what is good and valuable to placate the useless dregs and takers. What supports a place when the good people are run off and replaced by losers who chose to be filthy? Look at the slums of Calcutta, those people are poor in a third world country, then look at the street shitters in what was once a first world country, see the difference? This country has opportunity for being successful, unlike the untouchables of India who were and are given none. .

If what I wrote makes me bigoted then I wear that mantle with dignity, I refuse to sugar coat a poison pill and I really don’t give a shit what progressives think or believe, they live a fantasy and want normal people to acquiesce to their fantasy world. . .

BTW: since when do laymen teach priests how to be priests? Has the Church now outsourced that too?

To all the Texans that think they are so “perfect,” I would mention Connelly, LBJ, W. Bush, Ted Cruz, and Rick Perry just to name a few. Of course YOU didn’t vote for any of them, just like MILLIONS of Californians didn’t vote for the shit they are forced to live under in their legislature and governor’s mansion. Until 100% of the eligible citizens are voting, and until 100% of the votes are cast for progressive/liberal criminals, there will remain a certain percentage that object heavily to what is being done to them, who continue to fight for freedom and vote for “better” candidates, and who are unable (for external or internal reasons) to leave the state for somewhere “better.” And please identify the “perfect” state for them to run to with their freedom-oriented attitudes? Because my point can be made about ALL 50 states, though for some the positives outweigh the negatives by a lot more than in others.

And full disclosure, my wife and I are BOTH CA natives who left after 35 or so years living there. We worked tirelessly for the Libertarian party and I even ran for State Senate in the mid 90s. We were fortunate to have an employer move us both to GA, where we continued with our ant-government sentiment. CA was a great place to grow up. My parents kept me out of the government monopoly schools, and my wife’s schools were full of kids of engineers (mostly white and asian), so we both got great educations. NOWHERE in America is the way it used to be….because of Progressive policies that have destroyed BOTH major political parties. Some places have been a bit more immune than others, but it is all about picking the lesser of many evils as far as living is concerned.

I dunno what Trump is, all I know is that the guy is not real.

He says he’s pro 2A and pro-constitution, fact is he’s pro-redflag and pro-stop-and-frisk. He ran on an anti-war platform, now he appears to be giving the zionists and neocons a run for the title “World Warmonger”. Says he’s gonna drain the swamp but …… nada …… zip ….. zero. Pardons a half dozen Wall Street megabanks for fraud. Trump says “Hire Americans” but in 2016-2017, Trumps businesses had 144 jobs available — they hired ONE American and 143 H-2B foreign workers got the rest of the jobs. And this only scratches the surface.

I can hardly believe how patriots can be so blind to this joker. The lessor of two evils IS. STILL. EVIL.

You don’t like Ted Cruz? Tsk. As to Texas politicians, well Jerry Brown and Gavin hisself would give LBJ and Castro a run for the money. Bush and clan were frauds, carpet baggers masquerading as Texans. You forgot Travis and Houston and Austin in your diatribe against Texans, rather selective there. As to bragging about Libertarians? A noble and just philosophy that is doomed from the get-go when the takers overwhelm the producers in a society and NWO globalists (aka: oligarchical Marxists) push the PC/diversity mantra to create a divide in society in order to gain power.

Yeah, it was an inhumane comment. Wishing death upon thousands (not hundreds) isn’t good – and I don’t really wish that, but I’m not sure that death is worse than a life of deep psychosis and/or inescapable addiction, living in filth. If this virus afflicts all peoples equally, the homeless camps in CA will be ground zero anyway. God forbid.

I’ve been lurking here at TBP since nearly the beginning. Most of the people that used to post here are long gone. I’ve had a number of musings posted over the years from my experiences here in California but I’ve been somewhat quiet since after the election which is probably why some people are being very disrespectful. I stop by TBP each and every day, have donated to help keep it open but I’ve had little time to comment much as of late because of the dire need to get myself and my family somewhere safe.

Project Veritas was no lie and I meet a lot of people that very much believe that all business owners should be thrown into woodchippers and their businesses given to “the people”. Some might say, “you voted for that!” but I’ve never given any of my support to any of it.

Thanks for your kind words.

NickelthroweR,

I ran across one of your comments a while back on Zero Hedge on an Admin post they had picked up. A few blather mouths were deriding him for his views, and you were stanch in defending him, and TBP’s commenters.

We have exchanged a few comments but it has been years. I always found you thoughtful and witty.

I too am an internal State expat from a Liberal/Progressive Looney Tune Bin (NJ) having learned to despise my hometown for all the Right reasons, every pun intended.

I wish you the best in your next chapter, what you will lose in weather you hopefully will find in personal security and community sanity, and as LLPH states every time he posts, Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

After you are settled and the LCTSD (Left Coast Traumatic Stress Disorder) is treated with heavy doses of common sense liberty, freedom, and hopefully seriously armed self-defense in your new castle, please write an update to the new adventure!

Nickel, you have been around here a long time, and have shared many stories and insights of your life and business. I’ve always found you to be one of the more interesting points of view around here. The plague around the Platform for a while has been nutjob liberals who don’t believe that they are nutjob liberals. They have no grounding. So instead of getting wisdom and reasoning that comes from negotiating the minefield that is life, you get teeth marks on the cuff of your pants. I’d have left, too. I’m sure the fucktards did not read his article. They merely read that somebody from California wanted to leave and they jumped on his ass like he was the one who shit on the streets and supported a drug habit with scrounging and shoplifting. Some go into brainwashed overdrive and claim they don’t want him coming to ‘their’ state. The damn pecker puffers don’t own even a quarter acre of land but they somehow own the entire state.

That’s the state of affairs in ZeroHedge as well and probably nationwide; absolute morons that have been programmed to respond to certain triggers and stimuli with knee-jerk phrases like ‘commiefornia’ ‘cuck’ ‘liberal left’ ‘USA USA USA’. The knuckle draggers have reverted to a Biff mentality, bullying and attacking new things that make them afraid. Fucking Mongos.

There is no place that is safe. The governor of Missouri, along with several other Rethuglican governors, has offered to take in more refugees than the Federal Gov has asked. Wasn’t that nice? Then, when some people at a town hall tried to hold his feet to the fire, he basically told then to “eff off” because “you will still vote for me, anyway”. At least with the Demorats, you know what you are getting.

So, you might be safe in the midwest for a couple years, if you are lucky. There is only one way to stop this, and you know what it is.

Btw, some of you are…I’m looking for a word that is stronger than rude without being crude and I can’t find one. Anyway, Nickel is the kind of California refugee that you would want for a neighbor. There’s a house going up for sale across the road from me. It’s a mite bigger than an artists loft, though. Too big for us and we have 1650 sf. But I would take you any day for a neighbor. I have a bass guitar! 🙂 I also have 21 other guitars ranging from cheap SX guitars for travel to Gibson Les Pauls, SGs, Fender Strats and Teles. I also have a few acoustic guitars. Namely a 12 string Simon and Patrick, six string Fender, Martin and a Yamaha. Yes, I have a home studio! All of these instruments are of the left hand variety which means I am actually in my right mind! 😀 Whoops! Left out the fact I have more than a few electric Epiphone guitars. Ha! Ha!

However, I currently live in Memphis, Tennessee. I will also be relocating sometime in the near future to get away from the gangster/thug environment prevalent here.

Haven’t been to Steubenville for years, a bit big for my tastes but OH has a lot of nice places still. We live in Western PA, but would like to eventually move to West Virginia for lower taxes, warmer weather, and more similar politics. Philly has way too much influence and PA could easily go the way of Virginia, whereas most of the small towns and rural areas end up having to deal with CA style gun control and all the rest.
Good luck to you and your family, hopefully you can hide from some of the insanity at least if you don’t spend too much time on the internet. Moving isn’t an easy thing, we contemplate it alot but having our parents still in PA makes moving even 3-4hours away something that would be difficult. We have some friends in Pittsburgh and we are lucky to see them twice a year, proxemics is really powerful and with work and kids traveling is extremely difficult, when the drives are longer then the visits.

Unfortunately few people realize just how on the brink PA is. 5 counties on the PA/NJ border + Philly & Pitt control voting in national elections. After the State Court redrew the election map D’s feel quite emboldened. It’s only a matter of time and I’ve been working on my exit strategy for quite some time.

I don’t even mind that she made 2000% (2000 per acre versus 100 per she paid 15 years prior) profit from the sale: she’s a savvy businesswoman and her husband invested in her business and they got richer after he retired.

Anyway, she still owns that 9 acre lot and I told her we are interested in paying her 500 dollars more than anyone else will give her for it. If we decide we don’t want them next door.

My opinion of the Cali mess is that it has been very slyly contrived by the usual suspects. The opportunities for making serious bank in Cali has maxed out, so they have let the place go to hell and once the decent folk leave, they will seriously burn that mutha’ down.

When it has been destroyed, the phoenix will rise again when they can sell the real estate for big profit or construct retail areas in the future style they have on the drawing board. California will boom again when it is more profitable for the elites..

“The seasons of time offer no guarantees. For modern societies, no less than for all forms of life, transformative change is discontinuous. For what seems an eternity, history goes nowhere – and then it suddenly flings us forward across some vast chaos that defies any mortal effort to plan our way there. The Fourth Turning will try our souls – and the saecular rhythm tells us that much will depend on how we face up to that trial. I was outside enjoying the weather and strumming some guitar. Three bicycle policemen rolled up on me and threatened me with immediate arrest if I did not stop. The authorities ignore all the problems that we are having and harassed me over some “law” that you can not have music in public unless you have a license or permit.

That was the final straw.

The police are just armed tax collectors. Anyone not living on the street is harassed to no end so that they can collect more money for their liberal redistribution. After the fire, friends and family of those that lost their homes allowed people to park an RV in the driveway or allowed people to live in an empty garage – anything to alleviate the suffering. Anyway, the authorities ran around levying massive fines against the people that tried to help.

There are now many places in the US that, it saddens me to say, I have written off. I will no longer visit, LA, New Orleans, St Louis, Detroit, SanFrancisco. I grudgingly go to NJ because I have some family there. My mom is too old and stubborn to move, rest of my side has. I used to enjoy things cities had to offer, restaurants, ballgames, theatre -no longer. Despite the “hate has no home here” signs which proliferate, the feeling all to often is just the opposite. All too often it ends in some unpleasant experience. If nothing else, more people are just plain rude, many are totally obnoxious. I now limit my exposure to it and save the money I would have otherwise spent. Starting to be a decent cook as a result. If you want to hurl insults at the VP from the stage, kneel for the national anthem, have a vegan menu. Go right ahead. Don’t expect me to be any part of it or in any way support it with my $.

I get really torqued with I stories about crimes against children, and awful domestic abuse in which women have their fair share of guilt along with men. I don’t know if that woman was a facing divorce or just mental or both- but the child visitation laws, restraining orders, and divorce courts are so corrupt and harsh in some states that children and adults KILLING THEMSELVES over custody battles is a very real occurrence.

I lived in So Cal for he first 58 years of my life. As a boy it such an amazing place to grow up in. Very little traffic, great places to ride my bike, hiking and so many other good things. As a young adult there was inexpensive housing, no litter and trash and so many jobs everywhere. At that time gangs were almost nonexistent and drugs were something that you only heard about. Fast forward to my 50’s and it had all changed. I know everything does but everything that was good there was gone. Replaced by illegal aliens, horrible traffic, gangs, lot of drugs. bums and drug addicts everywhere, a worthless education system that caters to the children of illegals many of the good paying jobs left, etc etc. Sold my home and I moved to the mountains of Montana 5 years ago and it’s wonderful. And I did not bring any of Ca with me. When people ask me where I lived before I make something up like Utah or Idaho. R.I.P. California. It is circling the drain. Get out while you can.

As long-time ZH readers know, I was born in Kommiefornia. My parents divorced and we left the state in 1972 (I did return to visit grandparents during summer vacations in either North Hollywood or in Paradise which most people know the name of, now, and not in a good way.)

The guy who wrote this article sounds decent enough. I will probably never return to CA again.

The worst part is I understand him. My father and my father’s GF are two of those mentally ill people living on the street. By the time I realized my father had deteriorated, or by the time I understood he was mentally ill, there was nothing I could do.

I asked him to sell his house and offered to buy a house with a MIL unit. He claimed he didn’t like the weather where I live and he was in love with a woman that was a millionaire. How do you argue about that? He was an adult, he could choose his own life. I made that offer in 2007.

By 2017 I realized that my father was not right in the head. I called Adult Protective Services. They sent out professionals to his home for an assessment. I was told that other than “grandiose thinking” he was fine. At that time he had a house and telephone. I tried to get him to do long-term planning, including medical and financial POA. His response to my offer of help? He loudly proclaimed “I’m not going to die!” and hung up the phone. He was 82 when he made that statement.

As some of you know, I advised my father to not sell his home. He was concerned about owing property taxes. If he had given me POA I could have easily contacted the county tax assessor’s office and filed forms which would have delayed the payment of any taxes until after my father had passed away. So he sold his house and ended up homeless at the age of 83 with a schizophrenic / alcoholic GF that was 54.

I hate the homeless charity groups. I don’t see any evidence that they fix the problem. Those charities exacerbate the problem they don’t make it better. Those groups enabled my father and his GF to get free airplane tickets to Hawaii, where they lived for seven months, and once they had worn out their welcome in Hawaii, they were able to go to another charity and get free tickets back to California. To anyone that had to sit on either flight, next to them, you have my sympathy.

I have had numerous conversations with the police, with social workers, with the VA, with Adult Protective services. Basically, they told me that there was nothing they could do and if my father wanted to live on the street that was his choice. Staff at the VA became hostile towards me when I asked why my father could not be declared mentally incompetent and placed in a locked facility.

Asking about having someone locked in a facility, against their will, is where I really began to learn how the legal system has been destroyed with regard to dealing with the mentally ill and addicted. The ACLU broke those laws and now it is impossible to have someone committed to a mental facility (unless they go on a shooting spree and are declared insane).

I understand the frustration, anger, and pain of this author. I have had many of those same emotions over the years.

The saddest part of this story (very good writing btw) was that you raised your daughter in that world. I can only imagine how that will shape her world view in the future. I’m reminded of the stories of China in the 1800’s and the Opium epidemic. It got so bad entire regions of the country were just collapsing from everybody just giving up and getting high. The problem didn’t end until a revolution, and the new regime gave everyone 30 days to get off drugs. After that, if you were still addicted, they shot you in the head.

Wasn’t the opium addiction intentional? If I remember there was a great economic crisis that caused massive unemployment and the Emperor sedated the people in opium dens.

I’m probably butchering that history, but I’m fairly sure getting everyone addicted to drugs suggests there may be additional problems with giving Big Pharma so much control of our lives.

From my memory it was a huge trade imbalance between the UK and China that prompted it. China wasn’t buying anything for all the tea Brits were buying. Could have been the emperor thought it would be in his interest to buy the opium as well. There is always more than one agenda going on. Prominent in this story was Skull And Bones, who were heavily involved in the opium trade and made fortunes off of it.

Greetings,

The moving truck appears in 20 minutes so I’d like to say this on my way out of the door now that I’ve read 800 or so angry comments:

When ISIS appeared out of nowhere I had a good idea that it was a State Sponsored Terrorist Army. I knew this from being an Officer in the US Army and the logistics of moving a Battalion out into the woods and the massive amount of resources something like that takes.

Well, outside of my door is an army as well – an army of the homeless drug addicts and the insane. Just like ISIS, they could not be there without State sponsorship. After all, those people do not live on air alone but, too, require just as many resources as a battalion on the move.

What has happened here (and other places) is what the State wants for the whole USA. California is just a bit ahead of everyone else and given that we can no longer have electricity when the wind blows, the final collapse is not that far away.

Finally, those of you with your “don’t move here” bullshit – well, don’t flatter yourselves.

Nick, I wasn’t surprised at the vitriol aimed at you for leaving CA. Don’t come here, don’t come there. A lot of states were dumps in the 80’s, but they held on and didn’t succumb to the rot as fast as CA did. Most people who leave CA are not high income liberals, but middle class white folks who have to leave.

I lived there 20 years. My late husband wanted to go back there when we first got married, thinking Orange County was like it was when he was a kid. He had a huge culture shock in 1990. He’d be rolling over in his grave as to the state of it now. After he died in the mid 90’s, there was no reason for me to live there. All my family were in the Ozarks. Leaving CA was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

My rent kept rising. Then the economy went off the rails in 2007. Despite my many years of working in finance and accounting, I couldn’t find a job to save my life. I quietly left.

After leaving Orange County, a year later I got married to a good man. We’re living in flyover country and it’s pretty nice here. Easy to get a pistol permit. Virtually no crime, unless you count the occasional tweakers. Cost of living is low and since I live in an unincorporated area where there are no building codes or code enforcement. You can do what you want, within reason.

First thing I did was changed my license plates. Didn’t want someone confusing me with some east coast liberal and try to run me off the road. Actually when I tell people around here I lived in CA, they understood why people like me had to leave. They see the same internet blogs and TV news shows we all do.

That don’t move here irks me too. We all have the right to move wherever we want. Just like those who hate boomers, middle class folks like myself didn’t start the fire. We tried to put it out, but there were too many arsonists burning the land after we cleaned it up.

I live in an area receiving Californians. They generally suck.
Yeah, sure, they can go where they want, we just don’t want them to. Same thing with NY and NJ and IL and others. Liberal Retards fuck up their homes, then expect to come to ours and turn them into what they left. They don’t come to join us, become part of our community, respect our culture, and leave us alone. They’re more like nasty in-laws who complain about everything or insurgents coming to force their retarded politics on us.

Debbie Johnson
Debbie Johnson
  gilberts
February 22, 2020 2:54 am

Gilbert, places like Florida, Texas and even many parts of the south have been a dump for a long time. Newcomers in the last 5 years didn’t cause that. The locals did by their indifference to what was going on.

You talk about joining you, becoming part of your community and culture. That’s difficult to do. A lot of small towns will shun any newcomers, but will welcome with open arms refugees and other invaders from South of the border. Heaven forbid they might insinuate a hint of racism.

I know people in the greater metro area where I live constantly talk about yankees, outsiders…etc…but have zero problem with other invaders. i.e. churches around me will travel to Guatemala or Mexico to preach the gospel, but wouldn’t cross the street to help a poor white man or woman in their own community, local or not.

Hell in the South a man would rather his beautiful blond blue-eyed white daughter to marry a local yoof who’s into football, vs…an outsider young man who would make a good husband/father.

In all my 60 years of living (and I’ve lived all over the country for my job) did I once complain about my AO. I kept my mouth shut, was grateful to have a job and live my life. And I suspect most newcomers are the same way. The ONLY people who have the time to bitch and moan about how things are in their new area are the retired government employee/communist left leaning cucks that were that way or will be anywhere they move to. The working stiff don’t have time to complain and try to change things. They just want a peaceful life without getting robbed or shot.

gilly, back in 2010, the boss and his cohort were daydreaming about leaving Cali. The talk was all about finding a place where they don’t have a state income tax. Arizona and Texas came up. To hear them bitch about Cali you would think they weren’t born and raised here (ok, one was born in Georgia but raised here).

I don’t know how to describe them, maybe call them California good ole boys. They say you can’t take it with you but California dudes want to cash out the built up equity and look for greener pastures. It happens internally too; people for LA cash out on their hovels for half a mil and come up here to the Antelope Valley where they buy for $300K and still have money left over for several cars, new appliances and granite counter tops.

The increased house values and rising rents in LA have impacted poor folks worst of all, cheap apartments go for $1500 to $2500 per month and some resort to living in tents right next to the downtown skid row. My wife and I took a shortcut through downtown last month and she was shocked to see all the tents. We got out of the downtown area and headed across East LA on Olympic. In a region considered poor, we did not see any more tents.

I have never been surprised at what people call changes, East Austin was just as bad back in the late 70’s. Downtown LA, before Villaraigosa’s gentrification of the area was said to be populated by druggies, hookers and nutjobs. Skid row is still alive and kicking. The streets in that area are something you might find in a poor neighborhood of Tijuana. Yet, it is surprising to see white people walking around thanks to the new apartments and clubs in an area that had not seen blues eyes since WWII.

I’ll tell you, as an eyewitness, there are no turds to be found anywhere outside of downtown LA (I didn’t stop to look for them in the downtown area). There are no turds in East LA, Commerce, Glendale, Arleta, Sun Valley, North Hills, etc.

What you do find all over the basin – LA and surrounding cities – are the small houses built up in the 50’s boom years, most of them look cheap with wrought iron fences and gates. Some neighborhoods in San Fernando, North Hills and Burbank have managed to keep looking decent. White people sold out in Burbank after Lockheed closed shop in the 80’s.

I think they all went to the paradise west and south of the 405; Fountain Valley, Irvine and the rest of Orange County. Santa Monica Beach has a few holdouts but downtown Ventura is a wasteland. You have to drive up to Montecito and Butterfly Beach to enjoy the sea without the riff raff in Santa Monica or the horrendous traffic of the beach cities like Huntington and Newport.

California doesn’t have a homeless problem. It has a drug problem and a mental health problem. It’s by far the most beautiful place in the world and it easily has the most potential for civilization. A super long coast line, most fertile valley in the world, and a wealth of natural resources, including oil. But in the 1960’s the Brown family and all the drug using hippies teamed up to send this place back to the third world. What should be the best place in the world is a literal crap hole in every direction. The leaders here thought they could have paradise with no rules- I mean who wants to be mean to people who are just expressing their desire to be in an altered mental state? They failed. The state has failed.
And you’re right. My wife and I were saying two nights ago how this place sucks the life, love, and joy right out of a person. You live around these crazy drug addicts long enough and you find it’s really hard to not hate them. They have destroyed a beautiful place, they will steal everything you own if given the chance and crap on your front porch if you don’t give them what they want. We are sad, tired, and jaded. We, along with most people who don’t live behind gates, have grown to look upon the homeless with scorn and distrust. That’s sad. But that’s what California will do to you.

The problem with Californians escaping California is that they try and turn their new place into what they fled. Nothing but Locust People. That’s what they are trying to do to my Alaska right now. I say build a wall around the damned place!

And so ya have to pause for a minute, and ask yourself; “what would Lee Marvin say?”

I was born under a wandrin’ star
I was born under a wandrin’ star
Wheels are made for rollin’
Mules are made to pack
I’ve never seen a sight that didn’t look better looking back
I was born under a wandrin’ star
Mud can make you prisoner, and the plains can bake you dry
Snow can burn your eyes, but only people make you cry
Home is made for comin’ from, for dreams of goin’ to
Which with any luck will never come true
I was born under a wandrin’ star
I was born under a wandrin’ star
Do I know where hell is?
Hell is in hello
Heaven is goodbye for ever, it’s time for me to go
I was born under a wandrin’ star
A wandrin’ wandrin’ star
When I get to heaven tie me to a tree
Or I’ll begin to roam, and soon you know where I will be
I was born under a wandrin’ star
A wandrin’ wandrin’ star.

I lived in hollyWEIRD for awhile in the early 80’s, BEFORE this homeless problem. I loved the beach and went to Santamonica or Venice beach regularly. Loved it !! Today it’s obviously a “different world”. Almost a different PLANET !! Good Lord it’s disgusting. And, of course, the G.D. LIBERALS/Progressives/COMMIES, deserve ALL the blame. Rotten UN-American CREEPS !! Liberalism is truly a MENTAL ILLNESS. They have destroyed the most beautiful state in America !! I remember one afternoon, taking a walk down Sunset Blvd, I walked by a street bench and saw a guy sitting there, having a lively ARGUMENT, with his SHOE ! And that was over 30 years ago. God help California !

South Florida is hardly the same as what Nickelthrower describes. Try shitting on the street here, and you’re going to jail or you’re going to get your ass beat. I have never once seeing a discarded needle on the street.

The True Solution to Crapipornia is to Neutron Bomb it. Wipe Out All Life, Disease & Virus then just Wait for the Radiation to die down Quickly & Repopulate with Only Americans = No Commies, Illegals, Chinese, Arabs, Muslims, Indians, No Welfare Recipients, No Homeless, No Mentally Ill & then see what happens.

Locked up in rehab is not a punishment but one of compassion and yet the corrupt officials do nothing and let their people destroy themselves and push these drugs onto the new generation. The army is looking for recruits and the homeless are everywhere lost with out meaning, take them, clean them up and if they repeat their drug offenses, repeat.

Legalizing drugs is not a solution but sheer madness brought to you by drug obsessed officials, start the testing with the officials.

More thought needed for the part about the army. When they are in operation there is no place for some stoner. That alone makes all the difference.
