HISTORY LESSON

Guest Post by Jim Kunstler

Now I am going to tell you why BLM is a hustle, and how it came to this. Here is an opening to that honest conversation about race everyone’s been pretending to ask for. That’s been a hustle too, so far, because when anybody actually ventures to launch it, the cries of “racist” shut it down.

The BLM hustle has turned into a violent insurrection supported by a body of bad ideas geared to driving the nation insane. The action on-the-ground is like the Jacobin phase of the French Revolution seasoned with the violent derangement of Mao Zedong’s Cultural Revolution. As biologist Bret Weinstein said in his podcast last week with linguistics prof John McWhorter: “If you attempt a Maoist takeover of the US, you’ll get a civil war.”

What we’re seeing in the looting and burning, the “canceling” of careers and lives, the toppling of statues and the attempt to rewrite history, the pathetic obeisance of political leaders to raging mobs, and the lives lost in senseless acts of violence is the unfinished business of the civil rights movement. That business was the full participation of Black citizens in American life. The main grievance now is that Black Americans are still denied full participation due to “systemic racism.” That’s a dodge. What actually happened is that Black America opted out and lost itself in a quandary of its own making with the assistance of their white dis-enablers, the well-intentioned “progressives.”

Let me take you back to the mid-20th century. America had just fought and won a war against manifest evil. The nation styled itself as Leader of the Free World. That role could not be squared with the rules of Jim Crow apartheid, so something had to change. The civil rights campaign to undo racial segregation under law naturally began in the courts in cases such as Brown v. Board of Education (1954). So-called public accommodations — hotels, theaters, restaurants, buses, bathrooms, water fountains, etc. — remained segregated. By the early 1960s, the clamor to end all that took to the streets under the emerging moral leadership of Martin Luther King and his credo of non-violent civil disobedience.

Many acts of non-violent street protest were met by police using fire-hoses, vicious dogs, and batons to terrorize the marchers. This only shamed and horrified the rest of the nation watching on TV and actually quickened the formation of a political consensus to end American apartheid. That culminated in the passage of three major federal laws: The Public Accommodations Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and the Fair Housing Act of 1968.

Meanwhile, something else was going on among Black Americans: not everybody believed in Dr. King’s non-violence, and not everybody was so sure about full participation in American life. Altogether, Black America remained ambivalent and anxious about all that. That full participation implied a challenge to compete on common ground. What if it didn’t work out? An alternate view emerged, personified first by Malcolm X, who called MLK an “Uncle Tom,” and then by the younger generation, Stokely Carmichael, the Black Panthers and others retailing various brands of Black Power, Black Nationalism, and Black Separatism. It amounted, for some, in declining that invitation to participate fully in American life. “No thanks. We’ll go our own way.” That sentiment has prevailed ever since.

So, the outcome to all that federal legislation of the 1960s turned out not to be the clear-cut victory (like World War Two) that liberals and progressives so breathlessly expected. The civil rights acts had some startling adverse consequences, too. They swept away much of the parallel service and professional economy that Blacks had constructed to get around all the old exclusions of everyday life. With that went a lot of the Black middle-class, the business owners especially. In its place, the liberal-and-progressive government provided “public assistance” — a self-reinforcing poverty generator that got ever worse, especially in big cities where de-industrialization started destroying the working-class job base beginning in the 1970s. The catch was that Black America did not ask for or demand an end to those poverty-generating “welfare” programs. Rather, they objected loudly to changing them. It was, of course and unfortunately, a form of addiction.

How did white liberals and progressives react to all that? Increasingly with shame, disappointment, consternation, and amazement that the civil rights campaign had worked out so imperfectly. Despite all their idealism, American life had not become a nirvana of equality, fraternity, and amity. In the most troubled places, the urban ghettos, the statistical markers of out-of-wedlock births, crime, drug use, failure in school were getting demonstrably worse year by year. It was embarrassing, confusing, galling to the sociology professors, the congressional staffers, the school boards, the media pundits, the arts community, the literati, the clergy… really everybody who had hoped to right all the wrongs of history in their lifetime.

The solution was multiculturalism and diversity. These credos declared that a society didn’t require a common culture, a consensus about behaviors, manners, and values. Multiculturalism and diversity (M & D) provided a rich repertory of rationales for moral grandstanding, not to mention countless well-paid jobs administrating institutional policy, without requiring anything of anyone. But, contrary to good intentions once again, that didn’t work. It only increased friction between groups of people and induced more failure.

For example, the language problem. Black children in the centers of poverty were not learning how to speak English coherently. Their poor language skills were arguably a greater impediment to success in school, and in adult life later on, than the color of their skin. Yet the dogmas of M & D militated against fixing that. And, of course, it is still a deep taboo to broach the subject. Really, America, if you want to begin somewhere, require the teaching of language skills in the schools. If you continue to deny it, you are condemning people to failure.

Eventually, M & D evolved into the identity politics that turned the universities into lunatic asylums and finally infected the already badly fragmenting culture at large. The figments and phantoms that preoccupy “woke” revolutionaries are a product of that still-vibrant shame, disappointment, and hysteria that progressive America feels about the outcome of the long civil rights campaign. That is what all those Ivy League Maoists are acting out in the streets now, abetted by their elders in the Democratic Party establishment, the city halls, and the state houses.

The economic collapse underway is intensifying these quandaries, paradoxes, and predicaments because from now on life is going to get much more difficult for everybody in the USA. It will require everybody to get more serious about what actions they can take, what behaviors they can follow, in order to remain civilized. Do we really want it to become a fight over the table-scraps of history, or can we clear the phantoms out of her heads and play it straight for a change?

Careful JP! Statements like that can get you doxxed, looted, burned out, plus even get your career (possibly even your life) canceled™ by the woke™ social justice warrior crowd. By the way, where have we heard that phrase “social justice” before? Lemme take ya back from this Year of the Rat to the Rat year 1984: (worth seeing full 13 mins, but you can stop at 6 mins)

Speaking of Year of the Rat, Eric Blair aka George Orwell penned that bummer of a novel 1984 (also Rat year) back in Year of the Rat 1948, and apparently he had some inside knowledge as to the eventual plan for the west. In the above clip, we have Yuri Bezmenov draw out the engineered 4 seasons of a marxist/communist takeover —looks like the 20 to 30 year timetable he spoke of is turning out to be more like six decades in actual execution (~started Year of the Rat 1960):
1) Ideological Subversion (Active Measures)
2) Demoralization
3) Crisis
<— we are HERE
4) [New] Normalization

RATS!!! That’s an apt descriptor of the “raging mobs” perpetrating the current day “Jacobin phase of the French Revolution seasoned with the violent derangement of Mao Zedong’s Cultural Revolution.” Unfortunately this woke mob doesn’t realize they are esteemed as rats to their handlers as Yuri says.

JHK is getting mighty close, with his metal divining rods and writing implements, to that third-rail moment where the truth about Race in America is touched upon and roasts the messenger in a high-voltage, high-amperage induced immolation conflagration.

How the Jackals of the Left would feast upon the charred carcass; howl and laugh in their murderous Commie ecstasy.

Be careful, Jim.

Indeed.
Truth? They’ll have none of that!

It was the late Earl Nightingale who said:
“You can disregard the laws of man, but the laws of nature cannot be ignored without peril.

Cause and Effect.
So simple.
So true.
And so misunderstood, by so many people, who habitually fail to learn the most basic fundamental law that governs all of our thoughts and actions.”

I agree civil rights were on the right track in the 60’s. I call it moral evolution, but nothing says moral evolution has to proceed towards MORE morality, at least not every generation, every decade. The same true for political systems, economic systems. At least I was born in the sweet spot 50’s, and skipped most of the horror of evolution going wrong at least here in the USA. Lucky that.

Whenever I hear or read the word “Maoist”, I can’t help but think of Abimael Guzmán, aka “President Gonzalo”, the crazed philosophy professor who created Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) in Perú. A movie worth watching that is a fictional treatment of the hunt for Guzmán: The Dancer Upstairs.

There’s considerable literature on Guzmán and Sendero and it’s worth reading. I have a personal interest because of a lady friend whose brother lost an eye in the Calle Tarata bombing, three blocks from my friend’s home.

This group is not so different from what one is seeing now in the USA. One hopes the BLM, “antifa” and others who probably find Guzmán a hero. It took the military to finally put an end to it. One thinbg is certain: if the USA is to remain a coherent society, an end must be put to the rise of the Maoists.

Good one. We have an IQ deficit in the USA and it isn’t just
cultural Black lifestyles.
Look around you and see overwhelming numbers of fat people
waddling around, bags of chips in hand. Many proudly announce
their incurious brains with declarations of never reading a book.

46 murders in Baltimore since May 25th, the day George Floyd was killed. Only 3 of the dead were known not to be black. 43 blacks killed by other blacks if a good guess. Black Lives do not matter to other Blacks. Here is the page to look up stats : https://homicides.news.baltimoresun.com/recent/

Here’s another piece of forbidden history one only learns after they have lived in West Africa – the Africans sold their “own kind” into slavery to the European slave traders. I put “own kind” in quotes because nearly all West African ethnic groups hate each other and the dominate ethnic group had no qualms about capturing and sending the other ethnic groups off to the Americas in chains in exchange for guns, ammo, steel machetes, etc. The entirely contrived narrative in Alex Haley’s “Roots” where Kunta Kinte (even the name is contrived) where white slave traders capture him deep in the interior is ludicrous and has been a constant source of misinformation that serves only to drive white guilt and black victimization. It was just too dangerous to send a small party of whites into uncharted, un-mapped regions with no logistic support – instead, slave traders either sat in the port cities waiting for Africans to bring their captives to them or enterprising slave traders would establish operations up-river to get first dibs on the product.

Also, the Arab conquerors of East Africa from modern day Oman had extensive slave operations going back to the 13th century. Do we ever hear anyone decry the evils of the Arab slave trade that went on for nearly 650 years? Nope. And, there is still slavery in Africa today across the Sahel – my former employer got into big trouble with NGO community with big PR disaster when they found this out only AFTER they had farmed into Mauritania’s Chinguetti oil development.

How did I first learn of this? At the slavery museum, located in Luanda’s Fortaleza where slaves were kept prior to shipping them off to mainly Brazil. Try telling this to all the BLM folks. I tried to discuss this with one of my Angolan coworkers and he was rather dismissive, so I asked him one last time and his answer was, “I don’t care – slavery is not my problem. My family were never slaves.” So much for that united black front.

When Anthony Johnson was released from servitude, he was legally recognized as a “free Negro.” He became a successful farmer. In 1651 he owned 250 acres (100 ha), and the services of five indentured servants (four white and one black).

Slavery has a VERY long history, as long as humanity itself. The Native Tribes of North America waged constant war against each other, stealing women and children and making them slaves was very common. The impoverished Irish sold themselves into indentured servitude/slavery and the Romans, Greeks, Norse tribesmen and a host of others were real quick to catch and make slaves out of anyone they could get their hands on, mostly those of a lighter mien. The Gladiators were all slaves.
In America black freemen owned slaves, Jews were especially prominent in the slave trade, slavery was not the exclusive or majority domain of white slave owners, something the current crop of race baiters choose to ignore. They also conveniently ignore all the actual slavery happening in Libya and Mauritania. Odd and ironic how America’s first black president was so very instrumental in creating a slave state in a once free and prosperous country. Libya’s ruination is directly the result of Hillary Clinton and Barrack Obama.

Nope, the current ‘slavery/racist’ bullshit is there to make some people very wealthy while handing over large swaths of political control to the permanently and constantly aggrieved and angry black folk. This has zip, zero nada to do with slavery and everything to do with power and control.

The IOM said in April that it had documented reports of “slave markets” along the migrant routes in North Africa “tormenting hundreds of young African men bound for Libya.”

“There they become commodities to be bought, sold and discarded when they have no more value,” Doyle said in the April statement.

Funny you mention the IOM.

Did you know it’s former Director General was previously appointed ambassador to Haiti by Bill Clinton? You know, the planting the flag days for the Clinton business there? Trifecta here – Haiti, Clintons, migrants. So, a very close Clinton ally was the Director General of IOM, whose mission is to facilitate the movement of people from the 3rd world shit holes into 1st world countries. Note “Ambassador to Haiti” under Clinton is missing from his official IOM bio.

He was also a big time Clinton bundler in 1990s (Pelosi knows him well) and Bishop of Northern California for the Episcopal Church (Grace Cathedral, San Fransisco). Introduced communion to gays. His wife’s niece is married to one of Leon Panetta’s sons, but their social media presence were kept online before and after Osama Bin Laden was supposedly assassinated, including work addresses and residential addresses. Why wouldn’t the guy who was head of the CIA three months before Bin Laden’s assassination have his son’s and daughter-in-law’s social media presences wiped as they presented soft targets for retaliation? You know, the dog that didn’t bark.

The rabbit hole goes deep here. I’m surprised this has never been investigated on dark web. This post will probably get TBP demonetized.

`BLM was incorporated in Delaware in 2016 by 3 black women who openly admit to be devoted marxists . Their goal is to dismantle the entire government of the US by force and social engineering .
Thanks to the treasonous nature of our congress and senate all either bowing down to their ultimate demands or being complacent as they riot loot and burn . By BLM’s own admission “give us our demands or else”
That is not the tolerant peaceful coexistence the ridiculous bumper stickers push !

Except NOBODY mentions that every time MLK gave a speech, that city experienced rioting, looting and burning. Take a look at Watts and Newark to name just a few – areas that took many decades to (partially) recover at HUGE taxpayer expense. Non-violent my ass. Minneapolis and Seattle were also non-violent according to the MSM – we experienced PEACEFUL PROTESTS, right?

This is actually the same Marxist cultural revolution that was attempted in the 60’s. Notice the same themes? Yes, Vietnam was part of it then, but they called it the civil rights movement. They called the cops ‘pigs’ back then. Has anything really changed?

If they succeed this time, expect to see the exact same things that happened when Mao exterminated his opponents.

Same as Saint Nelson Mandela. ANC was avowed communist organization with funding from Cuba, Angola, etc. The large number of liberal Jews living in South Africa polished up his image in the early 1980s and the Mandela we were all sold on TV emerged from prison. Then, most of those same liberal Jews pulled their money out of South Africa before the ANC enacted the capital controls and they moved en masse to Melbourne and Perth Australia. Now, 30 years later after their arrival Australia has a zionist, evangelical PM. Evangelicals in Australia didn’t exist 30 years ago, or were only imported from USA and considered lunatics. We’re all worried about the wrong virus spreading.

Most of the revolutionary and BLM talk coming out of the Ivy League and the entertainment industry is just that, talk. As soon as personal action or sacrifice is required, those folks will go silent. A white professor shouting “white privilege” should admit, if she or he is honest, that if white privilege is real, then they only have their well paid sinecure because of their whiteness. And if that is true, then maybe they should resign. Yeah, no way. The self-righteous actors and TV hosts who wore black face would have to admit that by doing so they perpetuated black stereotypes, that they are therefore racist, and that their career deserves the same treatment as the statues of the founding fathers being pulled down. What, and lose all those millions of dollars? All these people egging on protesters are the same. Notice how that nut case mayor of Seattle went ballistic when protesters showed up at her door. It’s really different when your family is being threatened, isn’t it, yer honor? See, revolution is all fun and games until it is their head on the chopping block.
