One of the things I have always admired about you is that no matter how bad things look, you never lose sight of your priorities.
If there were any justice in the world men like you would be running the show.
edit to add: That song was always on my Grandmother’s lips when she was busy in the kitchen. I can see her clear as day every time I hear it. Thanks for the memory.
And you’re correct about running the show, anyone who wants that power ought to be disqualified.
Mostly off-topic, but I wanted to take the opportunity to note this before it slips my mind.
Charles Hugh Smith wrote A Dimly Lit Thanksgiving and I immediately thought HSF has a kindred spirit…
“I recently expressed my worries for the nation to a correspondent. His reply was thought-provoking:
you may be nervous about the coming 5 months, but I’d say don’t. Collapse is inevitable but doesn’t have to be unsurvivable. I’ve always thought it better to live with purpose and what better way then to pass on to my children skills and survival techniques as we pass through the fires of change.
You might assume this correspondent is just another doom-and-gloomer in a remote log cabin. He is not. He is a physician in an overwhelmed Covid ward…”
CH Smith is a go to as much as TBP.
They both keep my resolve up and my protective cynicism at the forefront.

In this day and age, 30 years is one heck of an accomplishment. Congratulations.

Dear Citizen,
It has been brought to our attention that you are in contravention of state lockdown regulations.
Please be aware that travelling anywhere non essential has been deemed illegal by your state governor and as such we must caution you that continued violations of these orders could result in heavy fines or jail sentences.
Please note that these regulations are in place for your safety and the safety of others you may come in contact with.
We appreciate your cooperation on this matter, you selfish, old folk murdering bastard.
We hosted this year. The front drive still looks like a car lot filled to near capacity with shiny rigs. The indoor living areas are permeated with sunlight and laughter (and leftovers) by day then yielding to warm light and pleasant conversation at night. Nearly every age group is represented but the majority consists of unmarried twenty-somethings, their friends, and significant others; the spare rooms engulfed by pillows, blankets, bags, and hope for the future. Quite the party. Best Thanksgiving ever.

I owe it all to Dani. She’s the optimist who somehow convinced our two sons they would have fun at the beach in late November.
I can barely run this website, let alone the show.
I’ve come to the conclusion that anyone who has a desire to run the show, shouldn’t be allowed to run the show. It’s quite a dilemma.
I do know who I don’t want running the show and I will dedicate all my efforts to keeping them from doing so.
In just proud to be in the show. Enjoy.
