My wife snores like a 300# longshoreman(yeah I dated myself)! I’ve worn foamies for 41 years, every damn night. She saw this ridiculous continuing infantilization of these children, who have yet to start their adult lives, and declared “I would clear this place with my snoring!”

Best of Luck

For the sake of your wife’s health, she should have a sleep study done, as she likely needs a CPAP unit. Long term snoring (partial airway obstruction) causes pulmonary hypertension, right heart failure, and a needlessly shortened life.

What kind of imbecile wants to live like a rat in a cage? It’s fine to stay in a hostel for a few days when you’re 21, but beyond that most people aspire to being able to own a few items, have a place to store them and have room to stretch out their arms. All so that you can live in LA and nurse the fantasy that you’re going to make a living in some aspect of the entertainment industry.

Geez, I don’t know what is the matter with Mom’s basement if it works for everybody in the household? Keeps the family tight and allows for the offspring to eventually launch. The POD people likely now need Hall Directors and RA’s for programming. Here comes da gubbamint wit some grants to POP: Program Of Pods.

Like fish in the refrigerator, even your relatives begin to stink after 3 days. I can imagine a few problems with pod living.
Maybe not so much for exhibitionists?

This is a nice (really!) version of the ‘albergues’ or ‘refugios’ one usually stays in while walking any of the Camino de Santiago routes in Spain. For 8-12 euro a night you have a roof over your head and access to a toilet and shower…maybe some laundry facilities.

It’s okay for 40 or so days in a row but I cannot imagine it as a long-term proposition.

As someone has already noted, the snoring can be horrendous.

Worse, somebody brings a norovirus or even just a cold into the place – – the outcome is “un-good”. Oh, and once bedbugs get into a place, they are a bitch to eliminate. In the albergues, they turn out everyone each day at 8 am and use until 2-3 pm to clean and disinfect the place. Even so, they don’t always get every bug which will result in a major closure.

Good luck to them but I don’t see the demographic for this being very sustainable.

I did 300km of the Camino last year. Most places I stayed didn’t have laundry but the set menu along the Camino de Santiago was varied enough. If I did it again I would bike the whole distance and carry only what I could fit on my saddlebags. I walked and packed 26#. If walking send your bag ahead for 3 to 5 euros per day. Miss the egg sandwich, Tortilla Francesca.

@subwo –

Good for you… fun innit?!

Yeah, the 26# can be a damper if you want to walk long distances. I only have done 2 spring, 2 fall (both from SJPP), and one short winter walk (from Ponferrada) between 2012 and 2017.

My pack never exceeded 19# except for the rapidly used water and daily snacks. If you want to try it again walking, go to: caminodesantiago.me and research packing lists – – lots of good, practical advice there at no cost…unless you want to donate.

Da P,
A friend I walked with sent me the list of all that we needed and I packed per list but when we met at airport he had reverted back to his army days of travel light freeze at night thinking. I got Black toes coming down from Cross of Iron which put damper on rest of walk. But I would do it again. Thanks for tip.

It’s not like it was in our time. They all retreat to their spots, put on their headphones and nothing else exists. Virtual reality is their reality. Makes me very sad.

$40-60 per night at the Podshare site. Not that cheap for what is a transient lifestyle. Have backpack will travel. I could see it working for the young that have a fallback plan. I think air B&B or VBO may be cheaper for singles to a group. But if you like the social aspect and all the ramen noodles you can eat, knock yourself out. I guess day work or temp gigs would be the jobs that accommodate this lifestyle.

For those who say this won’t work…youre overestimating a great many Americans future expectations. Sad days.

It’s been several years now, but just this last week I was in a mall as my son wanted to go and get pants immediately. So much empty space in the mall. I was shocked. Maybe the malls will be set up for Pod People now? I understand why the homeless mostly prefer the woods behind the supermarket.

You clearly haven’t been to the ghettos of some of our bigger cities. I will never forget wall to wall mattresses (no sheets and heavily urine+ stained) in every room in various apartments in the South Bronx. 40 people living in a two bedroom apartment where a husband, wife and two children live on a single queen sized mattress. Literally walking over people sleeping; stepping on their mattresses to get to a woman in labor.

After one good meal of hot vindaloo I would clear the entire building. Humans used to sleep many to a room (still do in some parts of the world) and it was a loud, smelly existence.

I could see this being more than enough for a certain sector of millennials. Thank God my son got another software engineering job right away that required he move for WiFi purposes (He is STILL working from his apartment and has not actually MET anyone he works with except via video conferencing. They FedExed a laptop with introduction, HR paperwork and all his guidelines and contacts for work. Then, he got his clearance and they sent him another work computer with all the necessary security stuff on it. The company he works for is creating medical version of skynet, I think.)

I do not think he could live in a pod, but I think he could work from one. I think he could sit cross-legged and code with his computers for hours (multiple screens and keyboards… a real whiz kid) in one of these pods, but he would not live there.

I am thanking the Lord he managed to acquire a skill someone wants to pay him to do at home. He isn’t even impacted by the mask nonsense.

If you want to freeze them in large quantities, you can fatten them up faster by putting them on a timed light. They are eating machines from 4 to 10 weeks and if you want them strictly for weight, they can max out at 4 to 5 pounds at 10 weeks if you keep them eating.

Either extend their day by four hours or have a light come one before sunrise to give them more eating time. They are eating pooping machines.

So… with 70 million on the unemployment rolls and box office earnings down 80%… has Amazon’s earnings made up the difference? WIP? what about that 5% drop in GDP?

Maybe 35%

I can’t tell you how many code violations I see. Granted, different municipalities have different codes, but they don’t vary too much. The extension cords going to each pod makes these places look like fire traps. I didn’t see evidence of a single C of O (Certificate of Occupancy). I also didn’t see evidence of the number of required fire exits, fire alarm system, etc. I wonder how many of these places still exist, COVID-19 notwithstanding. Sooner or later the bureaucracy will catch up with the proprietors.

I lived like that twice in my life. The first was YMCA summer camp. The second was also something like camping – an entire platoon living in a USMC Quonset hut.

This is what the W.E.F. wants for everyone. All rural populations will be moved to the “smart cities”, also known as prison, to protect the “enivorment” ahem… centralized control. Pods will be provided which are modern “stack and packs’ for “carbon footprint” reasons, which are provided by the state for low cost. Notice these arrangements aren’t family friendly which means there will be no families just workers raised by the state from cradle to grave. Critical race theory education will ensure the masses never rebel against their suppressors and instead fight each other over perceived injustices.

Meat will be excluded from consumption as it is the primary method of testosterone production through amino acids, which will make males less testosterone positive and prone to “going along” and not rebelling. Coupled with a “soy” diet, high levels of estrogen should ensure timid, weak, males unable to overthrow the system for years to come.

They want this for “minus-people” which will be the people who do not meet the social credit criteria.

Their net cost to the system will be negative, requiring they be removed.
