SUNDAY MORNING CLASSICS ON TBP

A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
nkit, Austrian Peter, and Steve C.

Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.

We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.

Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.

We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.

A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.

We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

This one comes to us from DougL

The Piano Guys

If you haven’t seen any Youtube videos of The Piano Guys, then you are in for a bit of a treat. Rather than I try to explain them to you, I’ll let them do it themselves in this short video.

Personally, I find their music to be incredibly good. I find their religious affiliation to be inconsequential,as I hope that you will also.

Kung Fu Piano:Cello Ascends

They have a goal of producing a video in front of the Seven Wonders Of The World.

In this first piece they play “Kung Fu Piano:Cello Ascends” on The Great Wall of China.

The Mission / How Great Thou Art

Next they play “The Mission / How Great Thou Art” at Iguazu Falls in Brazil. They also include Steven Sharp Nelson on cello with Christ The Redeemer in the background.

Over The Rainbow / Simple Gifts

Next up is “Over The Rainbow / Simple Gifts” produced in Hawaii.

They readily admit to borrowing some parts from Iz’s version, which they love.

The Jungle Book / Sarabande (Mayan Style)

After Hawaii, they move to the Third Wonder Of The World – Chichen Itza in Yucatan State, Mexico where they play “The Jungle Book / Sarabande (Mayan Style)”

To The Summit

We’ll follow that with To The Summit (Featuring Ray Smith on Tenor Sax).

Beethoven’s Five Secrets / One Republic

Next up they play “Beethoven’s Five Secrets / One Republic.”

This piece features Steven Sharp Nelson on cello with The American Heritage Lyceum Philharmonic Youth Orchestra with director Kayson Brown.

Charlie Brown Medley

Last, but not least, is a piece that I really like, not just because of the music, but because of what the music means to the residents of this facility where they had a surprise concert.

The happiness that The Piano Guys brought to these people is truly a beautiful thing.

The song, well, everyone knows it.

That should give you some good “feels” on a Sunday.

Have a great Sunday.

Thanks, Leah. I agree on the Charlie Brown Medley, and I believe I did enjoy it as much as they and their audience did. The Piano Guys are fantastic. Thanks for listening in this Sunday morning.

Nine hours of Top 100 classical pieces. Yup, I listened to it all this week …. it’s my background music when I’m reading/writing on TBP. Huge variety, all wonderful.
