On occasion, celebrating the midweek hump with an eclectic selection of the most disrespectful, impolite, disgraceful, head-banging, disturbing, badass, depraved, rebellious, decadent, kick-butt, or just plain enjoyable rock n roll of its time feels like a perfectly responsible thing to do, for some reason. Or no reason at all. Crank it up!
Trigger Warning: If you need a trigger warning, feel free to eradicate what little remains of your dignity and self-respect.
Proof that rap music is bad for health.
She hasn’t improved with the passage of time. Guess Who – American Woman
Got any cake? Hole – Doll Parts
Born without this fear. KONGOS – Come with Me Now
Look what they do to you. Highly Suspect – My Name Is Human
Ding a ding a dang a dong dong ding dong. Ministry – Jesus Built My Hotrod
This is more my style:
Great song, but I like John Lennon’s original better.
Here’s some HEAVY shit.
Moar HEAVY stuff, this time it’s in your face.
Happy Hump Day everyone.
Props for including Hole and Highly suspect.
People enjoy slagging Courtney Love – having ‘stripper’ and ‘crack whore’ on her resume probably doesn’t help – but I genuinely liked this entire album, and still do.
ok. how exactly do you link a video?
The bottom of you mouse contains a tiny microphone. Life up your mouse, move it to about 6 inches from your mouth, and say “Link video”. That’s all there’s too it. Kind of like this …
Paste the url on it’s own line.
Nice eclectic mix you put out this week. If “eclectic” is the theme for this week, how about a cover of Tool’s “The Pot” performed by…..a brass band!? Surprisingly Badass.
Fully and purposefully dedicated to “Dr. Falsey” and his co-conspirators……. eyeballs deep in muddy waters indeed.
Yeah, love The Pot. Tool too. Here ya go.
So, I’ve never been too much of an art aficionado (at least in the category of the plastic arts), but I went to see the Virtual Van Gogh exhibit yesterday. You cannot help be moved by his works. Some are simply so awe-inspiring (Starry Night over the Rhone hit me like a ton of bricks) they just about overwhelm your senses…especially when projected on 30 foot high screens.
Some of the most impressive works were his self-portraits, particularly the eyes. The eyes of some these eyes drawn 150 years ago had more life to them than many I see on the streets. They were almost always very troubled…as if he was constantly staring into the abyss and it was constantly staring back at him.
I’ve also been on a Chris Cornell kick of late. Tell me if eyes do not tell a similar picture. Perhaps we shouldn’t surprised he hung himself in a hotel room…perhaps we should be surprised he lasted as long as he did.
One of the all-time greats. A tragedy that shocked the hell out of me.

Well,Dusty Hill of ZZ top died today, sad fucking news and a great band live in the 70’s,never got into their Eliminator stuff too much so the 70’s was last time I saw em.
This is a newer song from their long 50 year deal and did actually really like it so here goes,RIP Dusty!
Yup, their ’70s output was definitely the best — great tunes and lyrics. I love “Jesus Just Left Chicago”, “Just Got Paid”, “I’m Bad, I’m Nationwide”, and of course “La Grange”. True classic rock; RIP Dusty…
Another great loss. The rock n roll generation is moving on. All the more reason to remember and treasure their legacy.
Thank you, Karalan. Love this week’s playlist, especially Highly Suspect and Ministry. See you next week.
