I don’t remember the TV repairman. I do remember seeing these.
I had an elderly friend who passed away and he had a tube-based AM radio. Clearest sound for AM I had ever heard. He would have given it to me had I asked… nuts.
Yep. Used to go to the hardware store w/ my dad, he’d test the tube(s) and if it was dead he’d buy whatever one he needed.

Grandfather ran a electronics store after Army career. Man could teach and fix anything. I remember going to Dart Drug to use their tester on our tubes growing up…seems it was always the horizontal hold going out!
