Animals that are well cared for have a very noticeable energy about them. Ones kept in captivity- close confines, no access to the outdoors, the same type of feed, etc. all have what I can only describe as a defeated look.
Once you see it you can’t miss it.
I know a lot of farmers, a few of them operate like we do, most of them are still in the “progressive farming” style of operation where the livestock is kept as tightly controlled as possible with x number of square feet per animal. The difference way the the same animals of the same species behave based on how they live their lives is startling.
The same is true of human beings. Free range humans are far less anxious, sick, unhappy, downcast, etc. Income has almost no effect on these characteristics. A highly paid person who is a corporate slave is uniformly unhappy, overweight, stressed out, has sleep issues, etc. Those who exist near the bottom of the economic ladder- if they are living on their own terms- are uniformly fit, upbeat, and radiate a calm serenity.

HF, Watch a documentary called, “Happy People Of The Tigre” it is a great example of free range humans.
Imagine this calm serenity and the knowledge that you would not trade 10 million dollars if it means a life without reindeers. We should all be so lucky to find a calling in life that leads to the knowledge of being in just the right place where destiny, God, history (whatever you choose) has placed you with certainty and purpose. Best 5 minutes I have spent today, watching this inspiring video.

Freedom to be who and what you want is not dictated by others .
It is inside you.
You determine your level of freedom.
It works only for you.
Just as no one can dictate your level of freedom, you cannot dictate the level for others.
Free people in a tyranny are called criminals.
Look at anyone called a criminal and ask the most important question:
Who was the victim?
If there is no specific victim (an real individual with a name), there was no crime.
Everything else is a construct of the state.
The criminal is merely a person living free in a tyranny and the tyranny discovered their freedom.
