A Nation Divided: The Majority of Americans Believe Its Time to Make it Official

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That, to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.

“That, whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it., and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.”

The opening paragraphs of the Declaration of Independence are universally familiar. Those great words began the separation of an oppressed people from a totalitarian regime. It was the beginning of the United States of America; our republic threw off its colonial shackles and declared itself independent of England.

Such words, however, have not been used since. Perhaps it is time they were.

Millions of Americans believe so. A surprising new poll published this week has found that many supporters of Joe Biden and of President Donald Trump actually agree on something; The time has come to split the country in two.

The poll — conducted by the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia in partnership with Project Home Fire — found that 41 percent of Biden voters and 52 percent of Trump voters favor dividing the country in two between Democrat-voting and Republican-voting states. Yes, it has gone that far.

The relevant points of the poll: “Significant numbers of both Trump and Biden voters show a willingness to consider violating democratic tendencies and norms if needed to serve their priorities. Roughly 2 in 10 Trump and Biden voters strongly agree it would be better if a ‘President could take needed actions without being constrained by Congress or courts,’ and roughly 4 in 10 (41 percent) of Biden and half (52 percent) of Trump voters at least somewhat agree that it’s time to split the country, favoring blue/red states seceding from the union.”

Respondents were specifically asked to address the following statement: “The situation in America is such that I would favor [Blue/Red] states seceding from the union to form their own separate country.” The results show that nearly half of Americans from both major political parties believe the nation’s political divide has become so toxic and irreparable that secession may well be the best solution.

It was part of an alarming trend uncovered by the poll, in which the majority of respondents expressed marked disillusionment with the current system of government.

More than 60 percent of Biden and Trump voters reportedly said they viewed America as “less a representative democracy and more a system that is run by and rigged for the benefit of the wealthy.”

As a way to fix the problems with America’s current political system, respondents seemed to support a more powerful executive branch able to carry out the will of the voters without legislative or judicial checks and balances.

Overall, more than two-thirds support … emboldening and empowering strong leaders and taking the law into their own hands when it comes to dealing with people or groups they view as dangerous,” the report stated.

The UVA Center for Politics called their findings “dangerous and alarming,” but Project Home Fire expressed hope the results could lead to more constructive political dialog in the future.

“Our hope is that, by employing the tools of modern behavioral science, Project Home Fire can develop a deep, data-driven understanding of the fears and concerns animating the increasingly dangerous political and cultural divide in America,” Robert McWilliams of Project Home Fire said in a statement.

“The logical conclusion then, is that it is in the long-term interest of the country to pursue a series of strategies and tactics that encourage bridge-building and constructive dialogue and re-affirm America’s reputation as the world’s leading representative democracy,” Project Home Fire’s Larry Schack added.

There is a very real question as to whether that is even possible at this juncture. In five short years, on July 4, 2026, we are supposed to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States of America. There is genuine reason to fear that may no longer be possible.

From the time Donald Trump announced he was running for president in May 2015, our current system of governance has been under attack from the Fascist left. The nine weeks from November 3, 2020, to January 6, 2020, proved that our system is broken and perhaps is so broken as to be beyond repair. Certainly, it appears many people in the U.S. believe the latter to be the case.

In December 2020, the Supreme Court of the United States disregarded the voting rights of over 75 million people. This is not said because our side “lost,” it is said because it is the truth.

Let’s face the facts. If the current situation was reversed, and what was done to President Trump was instead done to Joe Biden, it is an absolute certainty that hundreds of cities across our nation would have been in flames and would still be burning.

Even now, 11 months later, people would be getting pulled from cars and beaten, and police officers would be under assault. Nothing would have been accomplished in the aftermath, Washington would be in lockdown, the nation would be in the midst of an undeclared civil war and no one of the wrong political persuasion would be safe.

Fortunately, “our side” does not resort to such tactics.

Once the pathway was cleared for a blatantly progressive, Fascist government, the divide between Red and Blue, Right and Left, democracy and totalitarianism grew wider. Almost immediately, the border crisis developed, first with a trickle and then with a flood of illegals coming across the Southern border. Biden immediately ended President Trump’s “return to Mexico” policy whereby illegal immigrants had to wait in Mexico for their asylum hearing. Now over 1.5 million new illegals have entered the country.

The economy is still going strong only thanks to the Trump tax cut package continuing in effect. But inflation is building because of the Biden cabal’s refusal to end the $300 weekly unemployment supplement. That program has some workers who were paid more than their unemployment benefit and the supplement staying home anyway, as they have fewer expenses not working. The extra money is actually paying people to stay home and not work, depriving businesses of much-needed labor.

Twenty-five states unilaterally refused to continue paying the excess in May and June, which provided many people with a bigger income than they would earn at a wage-paying job. Others, like California, continued to pay out the supplement even though any true threat of COVID to U.S. workspaces has been greatly reduced. The benefits package expired for everyone on Labor Day, though some continue to receive enhanced benefits who have not used up their eligibility for the excess.

The Fed continues to print money at an alarming rate, so much so that there is no public statement of the amount of money in circulation as there was 40 years ago. If the world and the American people knew how much money is being printed, all would lose total confidence in the U.S. ability to keep prices down and to pay off its debt. Our national debt will exceed, by year’s end, the yearly GDP, which will cause inflation to soar and drastically curb investment in the U.S. The economy will crash.

Biden has already weakened the economy. He killed energy independence by canceling the Keystone XL pipeline when it was 95 percent complete. He even went to the extent of demanding Saudi Arabia increase production so the U.S. could buy more expensive foreign oil and gas. He also removed sanctions against Russia to build the Nord Stream II pipeline, thus preventing the U.S. from selling gas to Germany if we ever manage to regain status as an energy exporter again.

Biden is intent on implementing the insanely expensive Green New Deal proposed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) in passing the so-called “reconciliation bill” ― named for the process that will allow the Democrats to cut the GOP out of any say in the Senate.

His party saddled the U.S. government with additional major debt through two unnecessary multi-trillion-dollar CCP virus relief packages in 2020. Now they want to overburden us further with an additional $3.5 trillion in alleged “clean energy” expenditures that many of the bill’s critics say will cost closer to $5 trillion ― though Biden says the net cost is zero “because it’s paid for.” The claim is utter nonsense.

Biden’s weakness in foreign policy was spotlighted by his abject failure in Afghanistan. As a result of that grossly negligent and incompetent withdrawal, thousands of Americans and more thousands of Afghan allies and their families were left trapped behind enemy lines. Biden has sought to pretend the crisis in Afghanistan does not exist and his spokespersons have waved off media questions about it.

Allies and enemies around the world have taken note.  China has become exceptionally bold. Over the weekend of October 1-3 and on Monday, October 4, it flew over 140 military aircraft into Taiwanese air space. There is speculation that a mainland invasion of Free China is imminent. Israel has taken steps to be on its own in the event its Arab neighbors attack, European allies were already beginning to enter the Russian orbit of influence since Biden took over.

These are just a few of the dozens of major issues that have the world in turmoil and the U.S. so divided that close to a majority of its people are expressing views in favor of splitting the country in two. The reality is, as with the American Civil War, the government cannot allow such a split to occur, and as states determine to enact cessation, there will be war.

That means a split, regardless of how it is initiated. Neither side will emerge with the influence the U.S. once had. We may be entering a permanent weakening of U.S. influence. The world will be much worse off for that.

That said, many or most may not leave at all.
Even if they do, there will be ‘issues’

– most people will believe the government will save them
– they have nowhere to go and feel safe at home
– no plan for evacuation
– will not leave the cities while there’s still time
– no survival kit, no bug-out bag, no 72-hour kit, no plan, etc..
– only 1/2 tank of gas or less in their vehicle
– traffic jams will inhibit or block major routes
– don’t know alternate routes out
– road blocks may impede travel
– inability to walk very far without major survival issues
– poor health
– many people are badly out of physical shape; difficulty on foot
– not prepared to survive without food at the grocery stores
– most cannot build a fire, shelter, etc…
– people will have false notions about where they will go
– even those well equipped may face difficulty if they don’t leave first
– abandoned cars, roads blocked, ambushes, desperate scavengers, hostility
– many believe that ‘bugging out’ is an easy fix

Really? If we as a country had done a lot less “influencing” the world nd this country would be far better off. We wouldn’t be $trillions in the hole for starters. We were warned by the founding fathers to stay out of other peoples business. That was some very good advice we failed to listen to.
The ideological divide is the deepest. There are those who believe feelings trump facts and the other half of the country believes in facts trumping feelings.
When the rubber hits the road, we’ll find out which is the superior thought process. Duh.

A Free Market Capitalist system, that actually is a function of a fully recognized, and followed Constitution would be so productive that those who are “stuck” in “Blue” states will flee to Red States in droves. Those left behind will either work to feed themselves, or DIE. Either way, the World would be much better off with a nation that is a REAL example of a Free Market, Individualist-Responsible, nation.

Look at Hong Kong. The ONLY reason they failed, is their location. However, before the Xiden takeover, they were the MOST successful example of Free Market Capitalism in the history of the world.

The Chinese cannot be everywhere. Why bother crossing a huge ocean to land an army to steal natural resources, when there’s a huge wasteland to their north with more natural resources right in their own back yard.

Let the world take care of itself.

I agree with you. We need to pull together instead of divide ourselves up. This will most likely lead to CW2. If we become the victor then we can go looking for the ass-hats that started this shit storm. Do it as a nation not a bunch of individual states that resemble rabble. I don’t think anyone needs to worry about having to shoot their enemies. Two months ago I thought otherwise. However, the Feds are doing an excellent job of de-legitimizing themselves, and the longer this goes on, the weaker they become to the point they become a paper tiger. There won’t be any Federal Vaccination Mandates, unless they’re really intent on destroying themselves. They know there’s nothing they can do about it, or they would have already done it.
Eventually the states will declare federal edicts null and void, and they won’t be able to do much about it. We will reach a point where a New Federal System will emerge, and it will feature a central government greatly reduced in size and power, not unlike that Government which existed prior to 1861.

Nope. The Blue areas don’t get an entire state. They get THEIR counties and cities…and that’s IT.

Once you go down that road, the entire idea of a “state” has to be “re-imagined”,(my apologies for the Wokester quackspeak).

Territory doesn’t equal people, but people don’t equal territory either.

You get the turf you can occupy and defend…if you’re willing to do that.
I’m not about to give away vast sections of land because some bloated and dysfunctional human hive just happens to be located in the same imaginary and arbitrary borders…and neither should you.

This needs to start locally with Red counties seceding from Blue states and joining nearby Red states. It only needs a few to start and then it will cascade.

Take a step back and notice that there are at least three kinds of people on Team Blue. The largest group are not ideological Communists or the LGBTs, those groups can’t be helped. The largest group is the people who once worked at jobs that have been replaced by imports, by China, with NAFTA or “free trade”. They’ll be surplus for life unless some kind of work & income can be found for them. They vote Blue out of desperation for more handouts. Team Red can either offer bigger handouts or a meaningful life with real jobs back on this shore. Either that or we go on as-is and it won’t be long ’til a hamburger costs $100.

Also, if you split by state, then millions of each side would be left behind enemy lines. Rural Red will be trapped in blue states, while blue cities (ex. Miami) would be trapped in Red States.
