If you have been sentenced to die, as you kneel prostrate before the king, do you ask for favors, or do you beg for any mercy whatsoever with no qualifier? Even a sip of water before the axe falls would be a mercy.
OTOH, the case could be made that the west is run by an openly demonic cabal, which would therefore be worth fighting. Then of course you would have to decide which is the most pressing theater of war; the physical, corporeal fighting, or the eternal spiritual battle looming behind it all.
